Chapter 455 - Soldier

"Finally! Let me have my final evolution!"

Darius exclaimed after hearing his name being called. 

He's about 6 ft. tall with a huge physique and he's currently patrolling within the vicinity of the spaceship. Apparently, he has been waiting for a while now to receive his last gene optimization fluid. 

Clank! Clank! Clank!

He removed his Bio-Armor as he needed to enter the medical facility to get injected..

The 12 inches thick metal doors opened up for him as he arrived in the medical room after about 2 minutes. 

"Darius from the Third Infantry Division?" One of the doctors within the room asked as soon as he entered. There was no need for any other kinds of greeting.

"Yes!" 

"Very well. Sit here…"

Darius nodded as he approached the doctor and sat at the chair gestured to him. There are five other soldiers beside him who will also receive their final serum today.

"This will be a bit painful and you won't be able to work for about six hours. Are you aware of that?"

"Yes, Doctor. I'm ready."

Darius said as some of the members of the Third Infantry Division had already received their dosage. Apparently, the soldiers who had received their first serum are those with higher immunity or stronger physique.

He is in the last batch to receive the gene optimization so the doctor is probably worrying about the possible side effects in his body.

The doctor, who had his face hidden by a laboratory mask, nodded his head as he proceeded to use the fluid on Darius…

"AAahhh!"

"My body… Doctor! I think I'm melting!"

"I… I… I can't breathe… Please stop this for now!"

"No… Help!"

The men beside him also started feeling the pain of that optimization fluid!

They have learned that this is the final stage to receive a transcendent body so they have to persevere! 

Nevertheless, they can endure pain several times more than normal people because of their enhanced bodies but this fluid wasn't just causing pain to their muscles! It was as if something is scratching their bones and piercing them with sharp weapons…

It was no wonder why the other wouldn't be able to work for a while after receiving this…

Darius gritted his teeth as he endured the pain without letting out a scream. 

'I can do this… I can do this…' Darius chanted in his mind. He has already gone through a lot of things and his sheer will has brought him to his current position.

'Ugh!'

He had an urge to pass out due to the pain but he had a feeling that once he did that, he would most likely be unable to wake up forever.

The pain lasted for about 10 more minutes and as soon as it stopped, his mental strength has finally been drained as he dropped on the floor.

Darius opened his eyes and looked at his surroundings. It seems that he was still in the medical facility. He immediately sat up on his bed as he started to feel strange on his body.

He didn't know how much time had passed but it doesn't matter now… Something incredible is in his body!

'What's going on?' Darius looked at his hands, he can subtly see the presence of blue smoke around his body…

"Officer Darius, you've woken up." One of the doctors entered his room. It seems that they were immediately notified as soon as he regain consciousness.

"Doctor… What's going on now?"

"You're lucky, Officer… It seems that you have a very impressive affinity with mana. I'm sure that that prince will be happy with that. Only about 30 of us had reached the highest grade of affinity. Soon, all of those with this level of talent will meet his Highness to form a special unit under his direct command. For now, you need to take a rest and explore your current power."

Darius couldn't believe what he just heard. He had never thought that he would become one of the most successful soldiers to complete the gene optimization with the highest grade!

"Amazing! Don't worry, doctor! I'll take care of myself."

The man replied as he asked questions about the existence of mana.

He hadn't been too interested in this before since he had never thought that it will be related to their final enhancement. 

Many days had quickly passed as he had gotten used to the existence of mana… Aside from him, 12 more others in his division managed to reach the same level.

Once all of them received the gene optimization, they will then be sent to the Imperial Flagship to answer the prince's call…

However, it didn't go according to their plan…

Their camp has been attacked by two powerful natives of this planet.

Bam!

Darius dropped to the ground. His body filled with cuts and bruises… He could no longer feel his bleeding right arm and his broken legs.

'W-what's with these guys? Not even the Khrusams and the Mech Frames can stop them!'

The glowing humanoid being could simply crush them in few seconds! If they are not wearing their bio-armor, perhaps the being can annihilate them in the blink of an eye!

"What's going on now?"

The battle happened too fast… They weren't even able to hold until their reinforcement's arrival!

"You're the last guy… It's impressive that you can already use your mana so effectively even though you just learned how to use them."

Darius heard the young man in front of him… The man has gray hair and his glaring eyes frightened him a bit. For sure, this man is exhausted with the recent battle but he can feel that he's still beaming with power!

Aside from that, this person just destroyed multiple Mech Frames alone and he saw it with his own eyes! There was no way he could fight a single Mech Frame let alone tens of them at the same time!

Right now, Darius is in his weakest state, and even his Bio-Armor is no longer working. He could only try to survive for now.

"W-what do you want from me?" He did his best to ask while looking up. He couldn't even sit up in his current state. 

Of course, he noticed the language he used but he could no longer be bothered to ask how this man know how to speak the Empire's language. 

He knows that this person didn't kill him purposely so he must have a use even if it's a little.

The young man looking down on him smiled at his question.

"It seems that you're easy to talk with. Very well. I want information… I hope you have them."
