Chapter 399 - Changes

After Wallace dropped the corpses of the Khrusams together with the one he captured, he only rested for a while before using his Void Phase again to check out the situation of the other sites.

He wanted to see the Imperial Flagship since Avalon's network and even their satellite viewer can no longer be used. It seems that they have a device that is blocking any spying device on them. 

However, he was also curious about the situation at Stella Region. 

Since it is closer to him, he decided to check them out for some time and see if there's anything he can help with. 

Whoosh~

His Void Phase activated as he appeared in the place not too far from the landing site… He felt a significant decrease in his energy by using that Void Phase.

It just shows that he didn't have enough rest. 

As soon as he appeared, he saw a massive explosion on one of the Conveyor Spacesh.i.p.s! The explosion that occurred almost destroyed the spaceship!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

It was then followed by several more explosions as he saw a group of people leaving the said vessel.

He used his Divine Sense and quickly recognized that it was his master, Grand Arcanist Slaine, leading a group as they escape towards his direction.

Whatever they did to the spaceship, they seem to be successful as they essentially destroyed one of them.

'Hmm? They're being chased…'

Wallace finally noticed a group of Khrusams and other Bio-Armored Soldiers chasing their group of three.

He can see that Slaine and the others are quite injured and weren't moving fast enough. They will definitely be captured by the Empire at this rate.

'Alright. It's time to help…' He wouldn't just watch it happen so he quickly manipulated his Astral Energy to save them.

However, as he was about to release his ability, he noticed a golden Steel Knight, larger than his Mech Knights and alien's Mech Frames, rushed towards Slaine's group to save them!

'Interesting…' 

"Avalon… What's that Steel Knight? Where did it come from?" Wallace asked curiously. He can't monitor everything that is happening in the country so he wouldn't have an idea about the country's forces unless he saw them or if he asked Avalon directly.

Bam!

The large Steel Knight used Fire Wheel and was blocked by the Bio-Armored Soldier's Force Field. 

However, it was followed by Petrification Caster that caught most of them!

The only problem is that the Khrusam's Death Energy seems to be capable of disrupting the petrification that was cast on the others. It didn't manage to completely petrify them but it bought enough time for Slaine and others to escape. 

Boom!

The Golden Steel Knight was slammed by two heavily damaged Mech Frames! It seems that they've been waiting for the Knight to get closer to their spaceship!

However, the pilot seems to be very impressive as he managed to shake them off and even finished them off by firing his Elemental Turrets mounted on the Knight's shoulders.

Thud! Thud!

The Mech Frames didn't explode but they dropped on the ground after being hit.

'He's skilled…' Wallace thought referring to the pilot's abilities.s

[ That Steel Knight is a project made by Lucent Force funded by the government since the Traceless Hands is dominating the creation of Mech Knights. The model name is Hero-X01. ]

"Who's the pilot of that Knight now?"

"Ross?! That's amazing!"

He remembers his classmate in the Academy since he's a very talented person as well. Aside from that, he's related to Aeolia Schien too.

Wallace smiled a bit after learning the pilot's name. However, it's not the time to think of that as the war is still going on. 

Slaine is already moving into safety as they stayed on the ground moving with their feet. On the other hand, Wallace remained floating in the sky to a clearer view of his surroundings.

He can see Mech Frames attacking some Steel Knights while the Adept Magicians are moving in a group as they fought against the Marauder Gears…

They are so impressive as they know the weakness of the Gears and know how to utilize this advantage.

"Good… I changed it. We can do this."

Wallace muttered to himself. He's referring to his previous dream about the descent of the Empire. It was no longer the same as before.

He can recall that they were too helpless at that time and no backup arrived until they were all killed.

However, right now, they are almost fighting equally against the aliens that should've overpowered them in the first place. 

Nevertheless, he knows that the Empire was still not showing its full force. After all, the genuine soldiers of the empire hadn't shown yet. 

Based on Avalon's calculations, they are most likely dealing with the Mana Suffocation as of the moment.

Perhaps, they needed a few more minutes, a day, or perhaps a week to completely adapt themselves.

Percival leads a group of strong magicians to fight the aliens at Stella Region.

"Everyone! Stay on your guard!"

Their group's task is to ensure the safety of the Elemental Turrets transported to this place including a few Mana Bomb Launchers they have. 

He thought that the task would be easy considering the number of Steel Knights or Mech Knights they have. 

Aside from that, they will be at the furthest back since they could fire the turrets and launchers from a great distance.

In the end, they had to rely on the skills of the Adept Mages that played the Alien Invasion Game to stop their advance. 

Apparently, he learned from them that the  Marauder Gears are fast but their mobility was a bit terrible when moving at such a fast pace. They were unable to easily turn and they could exploit it if they timed their attacks.

Because of the information, they did very well in the battle until a few Khrusams managed to get closer! 

They hid inside the Marauder Gears to get closer to their group!

It was such a good move as they were unable to fight the Death Energy that suffocates them!

Percival started cursing as he doesn't have any ability that could fight this energy. He'd rather take their Psion Pulse or Positron Cannon than facing this!
