Chapter 384 - Truth and Lies

Wallace realized that having a conversation with them at this point is impossible. Perhaps, he has to show them that he's not joking around and was truly looking for an answer...

He looked at the 12 magicians activating their Mana Artifacts in front of him. Since they do not have enough time to prepare their magic, most of the skills they were about to cast were only Grade 2 Mana Spells which would barely do anything to his current body.

At this point, only Grade 3 Mana Spells can perhaps affect him and deal some true damage.

Nevertheless, he didn't let them finish their skills and activated his Magic Jammer.

"Ugh! Curse you!"

"It's a Magic Jammer!"

"Use your swords!"

As expected, they do not have a Jammer Canceller with them since they are expecting to face the aliens and not their fellow magicians.

However, Wallace wasn't finished yet... He waved his hand and controlled his formless mana to kill the nearest magicians except to the commander...

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The magicians' bodies suddenly dropped without any resistance... The attack was invisible and they didn't see Wallace use his Mana Artifact at all!

It means that his method of combat was similar to ancient magicians! Manipulation of the formless mana!

Then, the young man looked at the commander again…

"Let me ask you again… What happened in the negotiation? Did you betray the other nations?"

The commander was sweating profusely as he realized that the man in front of him was probably stronger than their Terror Mages.

The most problematic thing about his situation was that he's unable to use his Mana Spells at all. Perhaps, if he has some time to prepare, he could forcefully cast a Grade 4 or 5 spell to throw at Wallace.

After all, the Magic Jammer that they know isn't an absolute spell that would stop any magic… There should still be a flaw in this type of artifact…

For now, he thought of delaying the conversation and find a chance to escape… Perhaps, jumping out of the airship and regroup with the submerged Steel Knights is the best option.

'He's not a Deep Sea Creature… If I managed to escape under the sea… He wouldn't chase me for sure…'

Then, he thought of letting the others destroy this airship together with this man once he escaped.

The airship is an asset of their country and it is extremely expensive at ten times the Steel Knight's price, however, it seems that he has to give up this in exchange for his life.

"I don't know what happened… I only know a little. But can you tell us your name first? Ugh… Men, don't attack… He's a fellow magician he's not allied to the aliens!"

The commander instructed the remaining magicians beside him… They were about to attack Wallace using their swords but he couldn't agitate the man any longer.

Wallace then raised his hand made a slashing motion…

--Ssak!

Thud!

A slicing sound was heard followed by an arm falling on the deck… It took a second for the commander to realize that his arm was cut off!

"Aaargh!"

He screamed in pain as he held his right hand tightly to stop the bleeding… Although he can't cast a mana spell, it doesn't mean that he couldn't emit his mana at all... He suppressed his bleeding arm by controlling his mana in his body…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Just like what happened a while ago, the magicians around him dropped dead after attempting another attack on Wallace.

On the other hand, the other airsh.i.p.s surrounding them were also unable to do anything since their commander is close to Wallace… They can't take the risk of killing their own commander at this point…

At the moment, they can only watch as the event unfolds in front of their eyes. Nevertheless, the magicians on their side quickly prepared their Floating Drive System to get to their commander's side and rescue him as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, Wallace wouldn't wait for them…

"I will ask one last time—"

"Alright! Alright! No more! I'll talk… Just spare me. Haa~ Haa~"

The commander is already breathing heavily.

He had never felt this injury before so he knows that he has to give up already. He can only hope that the man would let him live after he revealed everything…

"Very well… Tell me everything you know..." Wallace replied coldly at the bleeding man. He knows that Avalon's information and analysis about their actions are almost a hundred percent accurate already. However, there might still be a very slim chance that this is a misunderstanding and he wanted them to give the benefit of the doubt.

"T-the negotiations went well with the aliens… We were just told to return to Seiji and wait for further instruction… B-believe me, that's all I know…"

The commander pleaded as he wanted to show his innocence about the current situation. Of course, Wallace wouldn't fall for that easily. The man is a high-ranking noble based on Avalon's gathered data and he's definitely included in the high-level meetings… There was no way that the plan to side with the aliens and negotiate with them was only planned in a day or two.

Wallace didn't reply and only looked at the man, he raised his hands similar to his actions when he previously sliced one of his arms.

"Wait! I remember now! Right, the leaders wanted to infiltrate the Aliens! They wanted to destroy them from the inside! Yes… I must be right! I'm sure of it!"

The commander did his best to make it sound like their country is doing something incredible. His voice sounded desperate as he explained himself to Wallace.

"Heh~ That sounded good…" The young man answered. However, his smirk was scary.

"Isn't it? We will surely defeat them once we learned everything about their powers… The other nations may become a sacrifice during this time but we have a good intention! We won't let their sacrifice be in vain… Once we learned their weakness in a few years or so, we will be the ones who will be destroying the aliens completely! We will avenge all the magicians that will die in this war and perhaps we can even attack their home planet once we settled everything here!"

The commander finished his speech as he looked at Wallace. He's trying to weigh whether his words are effective to this person.

However, his lies were too obvious.

"So you're willing to sacrifice the people of other nations for the sake of the magicians that would be spared."

"Yes… This is for the sake of our future as well! We can't all perish here… You have seen the power of the empire! Even the genius who went to outer space was unable to stop them at all!"

The commander tried to convince Wallace… He can see that his rescuers are getting closer so he decided to continue getting his attention by talking to him.

"If we didn't do that, there will be more magicians who will perish… Do you have the confidence to defeat them at this point? Isn't it better to live under their rule? Who knows, they might be benevolent and that man called Wallace was just trying to put them in a bad light. That's right… We can't judge these aliens based on the words of a single man!"

As he kept talking, the discrepancies in his words get a lot easier to notice…

At first, he said that they were planning to infiltrate the aliens, but now, he's suggesting that it's better to be ruled by these aliens to attain peace…

"Right… The aliens weren't even planning to destroy our planet… They want to get something here…"

As Wallace was about to finish him off since he was getting tired of his lies, the man finally said something interesting…

However, the young man had to deal with the magicians coming to this airship first…

His Divine Sense has been active all along so their sneaky moves wouldn't go unnoticed to him…

He clenched his fist as sparks of lightning covered his arms… After concentrating for a bit, he punched the air in front of him.

Bam!

Roar of Thundering Destruction!

It is the final technique of Awakening of Thunder and Lightning that he learned at Cloud Hawk's Manor.

This is the strongest long-distance technique of the Secret Art and as expected, all the approaching magicians were affected and were heavily injured by the technique…

They trembled for a moment before losing consciousness as they plunged into the sea.

The commander felt the power behind that technique… He was lucky that it was not targeted at him…

"I… I… I told you everything I know… P-please, spare me…" The man begged in front of Wallace as he realized that there's no way out of his situation.

His last ray of hope was defeated just by a single punch in the air… This guy is probably stronger than the aliens! Just where did he come from?!

'If you're this strong… Why don't you attack the aliens?! Why me?!' The commander complained but didn't dare to voice it out.

Nevertheless, Wallace looked at the man coldly and asked another question.

"You said that they wanted to get something here… Tell me more about it."
