Chapter 357 - Empire's Descent ( Part 5 )

"Kazan? That's a bit of a problem…" Aaron softly said after learning the location where the aliens would land.

That country barely has any connection to Zairus… They are not even in any kinds of trade due to them allying with Guwain and being situated on a very far island.

"Raven, what do you think will happen to them?" The young man asked his companion. He doesn't have that much impression of that country.

They do not have a strong military force buy they probably have the most cargo ship or merchant ship. Their main source of income was their trades to their allies in the mainland.

"They'll be destroyed, for sure… However, they were allied with Seiji and Guwain… They should be helping them at this time."

"Mhmm… That's true… Perhaps if they accepted our offer, we could've done something for them as well."

Since the island country did not accept their defense treaty thinking that they'll be safe in their islands, Zairus and their allies could only watch Alien's Spacesh.i.p.s descend to their land.

"I'm sure that Wallace would still move…"

"I wouldn't doubt that, young master… I'm sure that he already has a plan in motion… We just have to wait until our nation, or perhaps our allies get affected in their descent."

The Lucent Force is currently scattered throughout their whole country… It is to ensure that they would be able to respond to any emergencies in any part of the kingdom.

After all, even though they have an army and mage battalions, the Lucent Force was still on a different level.

Just a single squad of their force can already take on a rampaging Grand Sage… Although it happened a long time ago, it is proof that their members were being trained differently.

"Alright… I guess we can only wait for the news then…"

Somewhere in the rural town of Kazan, a group of young magicians was practicing with their newly bought Mana Artifacts.

They are the latest Artifacts from the mainland and were recently popular among the new generation of magicians…

The Mana Artifacts with Baseless Series.

Although it's expensive since it was probably acquired through illegal means and copied most of the Traceless Series' Mana Spells, they were still quite happy with all the new magic it has. There was even a free Magic Jammer Canceller included in the product…

Now, they wouldn't have to worry about those rich people that monopolized the few Lamat Stones…

This group also has a young teacher observing the way they cast the Mana Spell, how well they control it, and how much Mana they spent in casting a single spell…

If he finds something off with their performance, he would quickly try to correct them to achieve a good result.

"Mhmm… Good… Try to target the dummies and use Laser Shot."

Vedran just turned twenty-three and have completed his Arcane Baptism two weeks ago… He is now a genuine Adept Mage but he still has to teach these young elites of the country in order to gain connection and experience…

After all, he came from a humble lineage and has nothing to show off aside from his talent as a magician.

Boom! Boom!

The dummies were utterly destroyed by the power of Laser Shot… The Laser Shot is copied from Traceless Series' Laser Focus.

Aside from that, they also strengthened it by increasing the diameter of the laser making it even more dangerous.

Accuracy no longer matters as it is a weapon made to destroy anything on its path.

"Good… How was it?"

Vedran asked his students.

"Urgh… I'm already tired, teacher. It consumes a lot of Mana… A single shot of that can probably let me use the Archon Series's spell more than 5 times."

"That's right, Sir! This is indeed powerful like the rumors say… However, I don't think this is meant to be used by magicians… It's not practical…"

"It also takes some time before we can fire it. It is good against stationary targets but not in a battle that requires extreme speed… We are no longer just in the Brain-Boosting Era, we have to consider the Physical-Boosting that other Mana Spells can offer."

Vedran is very impressed with his students… They quickly realized many things about the weapon after firing it a few times.

It means that they have a good battle sense since they are considering things from the perspective of combat magicians…

Though none of them pointed to the amazing Mana Structure and technology behind the magic, he wasn't disappointed but instead quite happy as he realized the concerns of his students.

After all, it would be easier to teach some things if he knows their capabilities and preferences in their weapons.

During the remaining time that he has to teach the young magicians, he decided to give them clues on how to properly use the Laser Shot…

"Well, you don't have to pour all of your Mana in it… It is a common misconception that magicians need to pour more mana into their weapons to make them stronger… For me, it's not true, the real dangerous magic requires precision and not power… It requires adaptability instead of inflexibility…"

Vedran then held the gun-like Mana Artifact in his hands.

There are still 5 dummies in front that weren't targeted by his students a while ago… After calculating a bit, he pulled the trigger on it.

The mana spell activated…

Unlike the large Laser Shot that the students fired, Vedran's shot was only with the size of his finger…

Bam!

It created a hole in one of the dummies at the farthest left… It is the human's throat that was targeted on the shot… However, the mana spell was still not disappearing… I

It had actually turned and hit the other four dummies on its right and pierced their necks…

"What?!"

"Teacher! Is that possible?"

"It can do that too?"

"Please, teach us how to do that!"

"This is one of the Traceless Hands' special features on their Mana Structuring… As long as you created a thin laser that you can control, you can direct it in another direction once. That is what happened, which is why I told you, strong power might be good but it might not be the best… a simple power might just do the trick."

Vedran then reminded them of his teachings before letting them realize the importance of listening to his lessons.

After discussing a few more things with them, he ended the private class with these young elites and decided to walk around the town to pass the time.

The cool breeze in the air was quite relaxing and he already wanted to take asleep even though he hadn't eaten yet.

However, as he was about to go to his house… He noticed a huge shadow covering the sky…

"Will it rain?" Vedran muttered as he looked at the sky…

"Isn't this a bit too dark?"

He was about to ignore it but he suddenly noticed the flashing lights from these dark clouds…

He squinted his eyes to try as he looked above him and finally realized that the shadow was not a cloud!

The siren that is meant to inform them about a disaster was heard throughout the whole town…

"W-what's going on… Wait--- Don't tell me—"

He finally realized what was the thing covering the sky and why the siren started going off even though there isn't a tsunami or a storm coming…

"This… I knew it… Wallace is telling the truth. The aliens are coming…"

Unfortunately for them, Kazan is one of the countries that Wallace and Avalon were unable to reach and set up an information network.

The only method they have to inform them about the imminent threat was through their Virtual Pod.

However, only about a hundred people in the whole country have the virtual pod from their over five million population.

Vedran has one of them. He felt his body shaking after remembering the virtual reality's prediction and Wallace's revelation about the aliens…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

He suddenly heard marching steps from afar and found their country's mage battalions spreading throughout the town…

"We will defend this town from a possible threat from that airship above… The soldiers from Seiji would be arriving soon to help us... We just have to hold on for a while…"

The commander of the battalion shouted and everyone in the town heard him clearly. They are the quick response unit of the army and were spread out around their land.

He then gave series of instructions to the two hundred magicians under his command…

However, a sudden light covered the whole sky.

Boom!

An explosion from one of the spacesh.i.p.s occurred…

It was a succesfful shot from Wallace's Super Mesospheric Altitude Gun!
