Chapter 171 - I'm Left Out of It?!

Lu Zhaoying had been going on and on by Qin Ran’s ear, but all she responded was “Oh”.

He had no idea what to feel about it.

He remembered how he had told Qin Ran he wanted to find her a better teacher, and now he felt like a complete fool.

Given his reputation, the best he could do was find Qin Ran a teacher from the National Violin Association. As for those in Master Wei’s league…

Lu Zhaoying thought for a bit and realized that even his Old Master might not be able to achieve it.

The only person who could get someone like Master Wei was probably Cheng Juan, who would have been able to get Master Jiang as well.

He didn’t notice when the van stopped by.

But he was interrupted by the young man who alighted.

His eyes widened and he couldn’t believe what he saw.

The young man probably comes in a hurry, as he was still in the Team OST jersey.

He had taken his mask off and was smiling.

How could Lu Zhaoying, a loyal fan, not recognize Yang Fei?

There was a match against Country H in two days. They had set the venue as Devil City, and Team OST seemed to be wanting to move their headquarters from the capital to Yun Cheng.

They hadn’t gone back to the capital at all for this season.

Qiao Sheng’s car had already arrived, but upon seeing Yang Fei, he closed the door he had already opened.

He and Lu Zhaoying were different. He had bumped into Qin Ran and Yang Fei before and had heard quite a bit from Xu Yaoguang about Qin Ran’s past, so he was a lot calmer.

“Sun God.” He even waved at Yang Fei.

Yang Fei remembered Qiao Sheng too and smiled kindly.

“Didn’t I tell you you didn’t have to come?” Qin Ran was looking down at her shoes, but upon hearing him, she looked up and smiled.

Qin Ran hadn’t planned to call a lot of people. Even Cheng Juan had been invited by Chen Shulan.

And he brought Lu Zhaoying and Cheng Mu along too.

Since so many people were coming, she might as well have let Yang Fei know about it too.

She said it was just a casual meal. Since Yang Fei had training that day, he told Qin Ran that he would be there a little later.

He only knew that it was Qin Ran’s apprenticeship banquet when he saw Qiao Sheng’s post.

That was why he rushed all the way here.

And he made it just in time.

He handed Qin Ran a black bag.

Qin Ran received it and said casually, “It’s not 10 yet, go back for your training.”

Yang Fei looked at the group of people around and asked, “Then, will you come to watch our match? I’ll save the tickets for you for the three rounds with Country H.”

“I’ll see how it goes.” Qin Ran shook her head. “It’s at Devil City, I might not have the time.”

Yang Fei did not say much. He came in a hurry and left in a hurry too.

Qin Ran looked as the van left and then placed the bag Yang Fei had handed her into Cheng Juan’s car.

The gifts from Jiang Hui and the rest weren’t suitable to be brought back to the dormitory.

She walked back after putting the things in Cheng Juan’s car and suddenly realized that Lu Zhaoying’s talking had ceased.

It was rather quiet all around.

She turned to face Lu Zhaoying and saw that his brow was raised.

Lu Zhaoying and Cheng Mu exchanged glances and then finally turned to look at Qin Ran. “Qin Ran, was that… Sun God?”

“Yup.” Qin Ran nodded and slipped her hands into her pockets.

“You’re very close to him?” Lu Zhaoying looked at Qin Ran blankly.

Qin Ran stroked her chin. “We’re okay?”

Lu Zhaoying took a deep breath. He really wanted to grab Qin Ran by the collar when he asked, “How did you get so close to him?”

Lu Zhaoying had turned up for Master Wei’s event as a form of respect, but Yang Fei was an idol. He was completely different!

The car Master Wei had arranged for them arrived.

Qin Ran opened the car door and let Pan Mingyue and Lin Siran get in first.

She then glanced at Lu Zhaoying for a while and smiled. “We met while gaming. He’s busy training today, so I’ll introduce both of you the next time.”

She got in the car, said bye to the rest, and got the chauffeur to drive off.

Lu Zhaoying only snapped back to reality when the car had left.

“Gaming? She’s not even as quick as me in the game, and she managed to meet Sun God in the game?” Lu Zhaoying scratched his head in agitation. He sounded envious as he said, “Doesn’t that mean she’s seen Sun God’s god card before?”

One of the best matches Yang Fei had played in was the one with the Nuwa god card. Yang Fei’s undefeated myth card and a few others were used together.

Qiao Sheng was about to get back to his car. Upon hearing Lu Zhaoying’s words, he paused for a bit and turned to look at him sympathetically.

This brat… if he knew that the three god cards were created by Sister Ran, that her skills were the best in Team OST and that she was the one member who had never shown herself… he would surely go mad.

Ah, if he only knew. He would feel like a fool!

The rest of them had gone off, and only Cheng Mu and Lu Zhaoying were left thinking about life.

Cheng Juan was leaning against the back seat of the car. When he saw that Qin Ran’s car had left, he took out a cigarette and narrowed his eyes slightly.

A while later, he tapped the car window, signaling for Cheng Mu and Lu Zhaoying.

Cheng Mu took the driver’s seat. The night had been such a flurry, he felt a little lost even with his hands on the wheel.

He turned the key and looked up, catching sight of the pile of gifts Qin Ran had left in the back seat.

Qin Ran seemed to have left all her gifts behind.

Cheng Mu finally got his voice back when he saw the glass bottle hanging on the violin. “Ah, Miss Qin’s deskmate seemed to have bought a different imitation good this time.”

The previous one looked exactly the same. But this time, the edge of the leaf was a different color, probably due to subpar nurturing.

Lu Zhaoying was on his cell phone, bombarding Qin Ran with messages.

When he heard Cheng Mu’s voice, he turned to the back and recalled the grass that Cheng Mu had mentioned to him before.

But he wasn’t concerned about such things and quickly returned his gaze to his cell phone.

Qin Ran didn’t answer a single question of his.

She simply sent him Yang Fei’s WeChat handle.

**

On the other side, Qiao Sheng had just gotten home. “Mom, guess who I met at Sister Ran’s apprenticeship banquet!”

His mother was sitting on the couch, playing a game on her cell phone.

She didn’t even turn her head when she heard him and said, “Change out of your shoes.”

Qiao Sheng went back to the door and did as she said.

“Master Wei!” Qiao Sheng went over to his mom and lowered his voice. “And the two people from the school doctor’s office that Young Master Xu mentioned to me! Oh, and a person by the surname Jiang. I heard someone call him Young Master Jiang, and there was also Mayor Feng…” Her hands stopped moving for a moment when she heard the first name. It was a surprise, but it wasn’t incredible.

But the names that came after were utterly shocking.

Her fingers slipped and she was killed in the game.

“Young Master Jiang?” His mother couldn’t be bothered with the game as she tossed her cell phone aside. “That’s the Jiang family, and the rest must be the Cheng family and the Lu family.”

Qiao Sheng scratched his head. “Cheng and Lu families? Mom, why haven’t I heard of them?”

His mother side-eyed him. “Of course you haven’t heard of them. Now, go and take a shower.”

Qiao Sheng dragged his feet up while his mother watched him and said to herself, “He just gets to know these people by doing nothing at all…”

She thought for a bit and picked up her phone to make a call.

“Teacher Xu…”

Principal Xu had taught Qiao Sheng’s mother before back when she was studying for her doctorate. He had also helped her out once after that.

When Principal Xu first moved to Yun Cheng, she had recognized him and Xu Yaoguang right away.

She told Qiao Sheng about it, and that was why Qiao Sheng’s attitude towards Xu Yaoguang was different from his usual attitude towards the rest.

Even when the incident between Qin Ran and Qin Yu took place, Qiao Sheng had chosen to compromise. Qiao Sheng’s mother greeted him politely over the phone and told him about what took place that night. “Did something happen in Yun Cheng?”

She subconsciously tightened her grip on her cell phone.

Every single person that Qiao Sheng mentioned was like a time bomb in Yun Cheng.

Principal Xu was still in the capital with his sharp eyes behind those glasses.

He was holding a cup of tea while receiving updates from a few people when Qiao Sheng’s mother called. He got everybody to stop for a moment as he listened to her.

He suddenly froze in his seat and then stood up. “Wait, what did you say?”

“People from the Cheng, Jiang, and Lu families were there. Will they…” Her voice was filled with worry.

“No.” Principal Xu closed the file on his desk and said seriously, “What you said before that.”

Before that? Qiao Sheng’s mother thought for a while. “You mean what I said about Master Wei taking in…”

“He’s taking Qin Ran in as a disciple?” Principal Xu asked.

Qiao Sheng’s mother “Mm”-ed.

Principal Xu hung up and stood by the window, deep in thought.

“Elder Xu?” A few of them around called out cautiously.

Principal Xu snapped back to his senses and wrapped his fingers around his cell phone tightly. “What time is it now, are there still flight tickets back to Yun Cheng? Get me the earliest flight available.”

One of them hurriedly checked on his cell phone.

Yun Cheng was an ordinary second-tier city. Since it wasn’t any special occasion or festival, there were only a few flights each day.

It was close to 10 at night and there weren’t any more tickets for the day.

“Elder Xu, the earliest one will be tomorrow morning at eight.” That same person reported it to him.

Principal Xu couldn’t wait any longer but had no other choice. “Alright.”

He looked down at his cell phone with eyes that seemed filled with jealousy. “Wei Lin’s about to become her teacher and I wasn’t informed?”

**

The next day.

The last period of classes in the afternoon—Mathematics.

Gao Yang was discussing the paper they did over the weekend. It was a difficult paper and he took three lessons to finish going through it.

There was the last question left.

It was an extremely complex question. Almost the entire cohort was unable to do it.

Gao Yang held his chalk as he got to the last bit.

Qin Ran wasn’t too attentive in class. Besides the Physics teacher, no other teacher bothered about her.

They would rather she sleep in class or just practice her penmanship.

She practiced her writing during the lesson stroke by stroke on her paper.

Just as the class was about to end, she suddenly put her pen down and leaned back in her chair. She then took a look at the blackboard and tapped on her desk casually.

Gao Yang got a shock when she suddenly looked up.

He suddenly stopped talking for a while and looked at what he had written on the board, wondering if he had done a step wrongly.

He then wrote the last step down and looked at the final answer a little doubtfully.

Qin Ran didn’t say anything.

Gao Yang cleared his throat and began explaining again.

When the bell rang, he finally heaved a sigh of relief. He dismissed the class and then took a few more glances at the board.

Qin Ran headed straight for the school doctor’s office right away.

She hadn’t even taken her gifts from Cheng Juan’s car the previous night.

Gao Yang stayed behind for a little more. He took the chalk and went through his calculations all over again, only being at ease when he found that there was no error.

He then tossed the chalk onto the desk and left the class with the script.

He saw Principal Xu when he was about to leave. “Principal Xu?”

“Mm.” Principal Xu looked behind him and saw that Qin Ran wasn’t at her seat. “Qin Ran isn’t around?”

There were a few more students in the class who hadn’t left yet.

Someone said, “Principal Xu, Sister Ran must’ve gone to the school doctor’s office!”

Principal Xu had even more mixed feelings upon hearing that.

He nodded and thanked the student before making his way to the school doctor’s office.

At this time, the door was left ajar as there weren’t many people inside.

Principal Xu knocked on the door.

It was Cheng Mu who opened the door. He had an empty teacup in his hand, all ready to make Qin Ran some tea since she just arrived.

Thinking it was a student at the door, he was stunned to see the principal. “Elder Xu?”
