Chapter 25:Legate

Necromancers would usually take one of two paths while leveling up.

The first path was quantity. These Necromancers would be able to summon large amounts of skeletons and overwhelm their enemies through sheer numbers. However, these while skeletons would usually be weak and rarely put up a good fight.

The other path was quantity. These Necromancers would only be able to summon a single creature, but it would usually be formidable. It was said that Necromancers could even summon the legendary Bone Dragon after their second Class Advancement at level 60.

This particular Necromancer clearly pursued the quantity path. A dozen skeletons formed a tightly packed bone wall before the wizard in an attempt to block the attacker.

"Berserk Enhancement!"

The Berserker cast a buff spell on the skeletons. Berserkers were a profession of the hellions; they were like Priests of the humans. They were capable of casting buff spells on their companions, which made them a natural match for Necromancers.

The skeletons drew swords that shone with glaring red radiance. Their listless eyes flickered with a peculiar red glow as if they were suddenly full of life. They started advancing upon the Barbarian Warrior with sharp sickles and swords in hand.

The Barbarian Warrior did not seem to mind these creatures. He continued charging toward the three Evil Alliance players.

The fragile skeleton soldiers were no match for the Barbarian Warrior's attacks. With a sharp swipe of his blade, all the skeletons that came into contact with it were instantly shattered.

The Barbarian Warrior laughed. "These small fry aren't even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth! I'll show you what a real PK is today." The Barbarian Warrior's huge white swords were brought down like meteors. One of the skeleton soldiers was split in two from its cranium down, and its bones scattered everywhere. The Barbarian Warrior's formidable strength transformed the white swords in his hands into divine weapons that could crush anything.

"Be careful, guys. He's got a rank-7 legate outfit," the Berserker exclaimed with surprise.

The military ranks were divided into 12 ranks. They were rank-1 private, rank-2 private, rank-3 new recruit, rank-4 sergeant major, rank-5 centurion, rank-6 senior tribune, rank-7 legate, rank-8 brigadier general, rank-9 general, rank-10 grand general, rank-11 marshal, and rank-12 generalissimo. They would be granted earldom based on their military achievements, and were eligible for certain rewards in any of the main capitals of the Angelic Alliance. If they had enough money, they could even buy outfits forged by dwarf or human Blacksmiths. These outfits often had powerful attributes. A legate's outfit was equivalent to a level 40 Epic outfit. It was no wonder that the Berserker was feeling flustered.

Climbing up the ranks from a rank-1 private to a legate was a long process. As a legate, he would have at least achieved 20,000 Honorable Kills. He was a player who was baptized in the blood and fire of war. There was no reason to doubt his PvP abilities. It was no wonder that he faced off against three players on his own without fear.

The Berserker and the Necromancer staggered backward under the cover of the skeleton soldiers. The Death Knight rode on a Skeletal Horse whose body was covered in scarlet flames. He wore black armor and wielded a black lance that was two meters long. He circled the perimeter of the battlefield, ready to give the Barbarian Warrior a fatal strike.

Xiao Ling's curiosity compelled him to continue watching this battle. It was one against three. Although the Barbarian Warrior was formidable, the three Evil Alliance players were not weak, either. They were players level 40 and above, after all. They must have had their fair share of PvP experience while leveling up. They were definitely not pushovers! Why was the Barbarian Warrior so confident that he could defeat the three of them?

The Barbarian Warrior lifted his right arm and rested his sword on his shoulder. He stood there haughtily, observing the three Evil Alliance players silently. The sword was more than a meter long and forged from mithril. It did not look light. However, the Barbarian Warrior lifted it without difficulty as if it was nothing. This frightened Xiao Ling. The Barbarian Warrior was too powerful.

The Barbarian Warrior carried his sword and guffawed. "I've fought five opponents at once before, and I've never lost against three. Prepare to die, little ones."

"You might've spoken too soon." The Death Knight tightened his knees around his steed and the Skeletal Horse reared as it hissed. Then, it galloped toward the Barbarian Warrior.

Long-range Raid!

The Death Knight leveled his two-meters-long lance and charged at the Barbarian Warrior like the wind.

Bloodthirst!

The Berserker cast a buff spell on the Death Knight. The Death Knight was enveloped in a radiant scarlet glow. His stats rose.

The Barbarian Warrior seemed calm and unruffled in the midst of all this. He lifted his sword slowly.

Berserk!

His body swelled and grew taller by a head. He now resembled a primordial beast, and was even taller than the Death Knight on his mount. The sharp aura he was unleashing was like an unsheathed steel blade.

His huge body was reminiscent of a creature endemic to Evermonde Island, the Behemoth! It was said that a Berserking Barbarian Warrior could fight a juvenile Behemoth!

"Rargh!" The Barbarian Warrior roared and charged toward the Death Knight.

The Berserker and Necromancer began preparing their spells. Two black balls of light appeared at their hands. Xiao Ling found himself breaking out in a cold sweat for the Barbarian Warrior's sake. Could he really defeat the three Evil Alliance players? After all, they were level 40 and above.

With a metallic ring, the Barbarian Warrior parried the Death Knight's lance with his right huge sword. He brought down his left sword mercilessly onto the Death Knight.
