Chapter 12:Honorable Kill

The rogue was hit several times in a row, but he had not even touched Xiao Ling once, and his health was already down to 7%.

He did not expect Xiao Ling's reaction and attack to be so fast, and the damage of his attacks so high. 'Damnit! Is he a demonic warlock, a destruction warlock, or an affliction warlock?' the rogue cursed in his mind. 'How can there be such a freakish player?' Hurriedly, he drank a bottle of instant minor health potion and his health soared to 67%.

Wind walking!

He entered stealth mode once again.

Evidently, the rogue was very rich, because he had just used a bottle of instant minor health potion that cost 5 gold coins each.

Items in the server that could restore health included bread, bandages, and health potions. Usually bread and bandages were used after the battle, and they could slowly restore health. If they were used during the battle, the restoring process could be easily interrupted. Health potions, on the other hand, were usually used during battle. They were relatively rare, and if used properly, they could allow a player to survive the battle or even turn the tables. Of course, they were quite expensive, so Xiao Ling was surprised to see the rogue use one as if it were nothing. Although it was only a minor health potion, it was an item that cost 5 gold coins.

The rogue disappeared from his sight, but Xiao Ling calmly watched his surroundings. Although he had never fought a PvP before, it did not mean he could not fight a PvP. With the skills of three warlock specializations, if he could not defeat another player in a PvP, he had better kill himself by slamming his head into a wall.

Of all his skills, only Force Blast was an AoE (Area of Effect) attack, which could be used to reveal the rogue's position. However, it only had an AoD (Area of Damage) of 5 yards. If the rogue were outside the range, his attack would fail. So, he had to wait for him to come closer.

It was terribly quiet; a gust of wind blew across the vast barren land, filling Xiao Ling with a chill. He was all tensed up as he sensed for any movements around him, and his Force Blast was ready.

He was guessing when the rogue would attack and predicting the approximate position he would appear when he felt a chill coming from behind his head. 'He is so fast!' Xiao Ling did not expect the enemy to come so close to him so quickly and his pupils constricted.

Force Blast!

From sensing the rogue's attack to reacting, it took Xiao Ling only less than 0.5 seconds. However, he was not satisfied, because a true expect would have reacted faster.

The Force Blast exploded like a bomb within an area of five yards, its blast wave sweeping through the area in an instant. As a result, the rogue grunted and revealed himself.

'That was a close call!' If the rogue managed to get close enough to Xiao Ling and used the Sap skill, the latter would be stunned for five seconds. As an intelligence-based warlock, Xiao Ling's health and defense were very low, and with a rogue's powerful dps, five seconds were more than enough for him to kill the other. But, the opportunity was gone now, because Wind walking had a very long cooldown, and the rogue had to wait for it to be over before entering his stealth mode again.

The target was locked down.

Corruption!

Shadow Bolt!

Searing Pain!

The rogue struggled to approach Xiao Ling.

Repellent Ring!

Arcane Bolt!

The torrent of attacks generated a total damage of over 400 points. Few could defend against such attacks unless they were warriors, knights, or similar classes with high health and strong defense. By the time the attacks were over, the rogue closed his eyes and fell to the ground.

System: You have achieved 1 Honorable Kill and received 1 Brakada Honor Point and 1 Player Honor Point.

Brakada Honor Point referred to the Kingdom Honor. For each player from a kingdom of the Evil Alliance killed by the player of Brakada, an honor point would be added to the Kingdom Honor. A kingdom with more Kingdom Honor would rank higher in the Angelic Alliance and have a louder voice, and the players of the kingdom would receive more benefits. As for the Player Honor Point, when it reached a certain level, the player would be given a certain title, which came with some rewards and special treatments.

After killing the rogue, Xiao Ling breathed a sigh of relief. He kicked the body that was sprawled on the ground like a dead dog, and then picked up some gold coins. 'What! 13 gold coins? According to the drop rate of 100:1, he had at least 1,300 gold coins with him!'

'Tsk, tsk...He is so rich!' Xiao Ling thought with mixed emotions, 'How can a mere level-7 rogue have so much money?' After that, he searched the body and found a level-7 Superior Rare rogue leather armor that could be sold for dozens of gold coins. He was pleased with the loot.

...

"What's wrong, boss? Why do you look so upset?" asked Headhunter, an ice mage. It was rather curious for a level-47 element mage who was ranked in the sixth place in the entire Evil Alliance to call a level-7 rogue boss.

The rogue, Hunter, said depressingly, "I was killed by someone this morning and lost my Rare leather armor." What bothered him was not the leather armor, but the humiliation of being killed by someone.

Headhunter was slightly surprised. According to common sense, a rogue couldn't be killed in the wild. If Hunter had encountered a higher-level enemy, he could enter into stealth mode and sneak away. And if the enemy's level was equal or lower than his, given his all Rare equipment and instant minor health potions, he should have slain the enemy. Headhunter opened his mouth and wanted to ask the enemy's level, but the words were caught in his throat.

"He is a level-6 warlock." Hunter could tell the question in Headhunter's mind, and he answered honestly.

Headhunter gaped in astonishment. 'This is incredible! Was Boss ambushed by the player? But that cannot be! A rogue can use Windwalking and enter into stealth mode as soon as he is attacked, so how can he be caught?' He knew Hunter's skills, which were more than enough to put him among all the top experts. Had it not been because he joined the game too late, he would have been one of the top-ranking players. And yet, he was killed by a warlock one level lower than him. It was simply inconceivable!

Hunter did not explain further; there was no need to explain this sort of thing. He was defeated, that was all. A cold gleam flashed through his eyes. If he met that player again, he would definitely make him pay for what he did to him. 'Xiao Ling...' he read the name in his mind. 'A warlock who knows the spells of three different specializations, interesting...'
