Chapter 216 - Mother’s Advice

The Cayenne stopped as it reached her office. Li Qin Yao turned to Zhang Yu Han and smiled apologetically. "Sorry. Just give me five minutes to retrieve some documents."

"I'll go with you and we can share this good news with everyone. I have already prepared some sweets to be distributed," Zhang Yu Han smiled.

Before she could say anything, he had already exited the Cayenne. He helped her out from the car and took out a few paper bags from the back seat. Then, Zhang Yu Han extended his hand to her and the couple walked into the building while holding hands.

Liang Sheng immediately went to Li Qin Yao's side when he heard of her attendance. He gave her a questioning gaze and asked, "Miss Li, I thought that you won't be coming to the office today."

Li Qin Yao glanced at the man beside her and saw his smile. "Hmm… I have something to announce," Li Qin Yao said. "Liang Sheng, help me to gather everyone in my office in five minutes."

"Understood," Liang Sheng nodded.

"Right. Did anything happened while I was away?" Li Qin Yao stopped him before he turned around.

"I have already reported everything that should be reported," Liang Sheng said and hesitated. "Just that… it was fortunate that you came here at this time. Earlier, Mister Chen from WS Group came to look for you. I explained that you won't be coming to the office today. Of course, he did not believe in my words and chose to wait for you. It was ten minutes earlier that he left. If you came earlier, you might run into him."

Li Qin Yao felt Zhang Yu Han's hand tightened around hers when he heard about Chen Hao's appearance. She thanked Liang Sheng and led Zhang Yu Han into her office.

"Why is that man still coming to find you?" Zhang Yu Han said as he shut the door behind them.

"Who knows what is he thinking," Li Qin Yao said. She saw the discontented look on his face and stood tiptoed to link her arms around his neck. "What are you worrying about?"

Zhang Yu Han placed his hand around her waist to support her. Of course, he was afraid that that guy would pester her and tried to sway his wife with sweetened words. Just imagining that scene made him annoyed.

"You don't trust me?"

"It's not that I don't trust you. It's more like I did not trust him," Zhang Yu Han leaned in to kiss her on her forehead. "I worry that he might do try to harm you when he could not get what he wanted."

Someone knocked on the door before she could say a word and Li Qin Yao quickly pulled away. She opened the door and invited the staff into the room.

Everyone walked into the room with an anxious look on their face. They could not help but speculate on what their boss was going to announce.

Once Li Qin Yao was sure that everyone had come in, she turned to Zhang Yu Han and faced the staff together with him. "I have something to announce." She noticed the way some were whispering words of worry and laughed. "Don't worry. No one is getting fired or anything. We're only here to announce a happy news."

"Happy news?"

Li Qin Yao linked her hand with Zhang Yu Han and said. "Director Zhang and I had registered our marriage today."

Auspicious and congratulatory words could be heard in the office. Hearing their warm wishes, Zhang Yu Han started to distribute some sweets for the staff. Of course, once they saw that it was some expensive and popular brand of sweets, the staff were happy that they continue to spoke more happy words.

The two of them left after Li Qin Yao had retrieved the documents she needed and head over to her apartment. When the two of them arrived, Xu Yilan had finished cooking and the dishes were served on the table.

She greeted the new couple with a smile and demanded to look at the red book. Her tears threatened to fall at the thought that her daughter was now someone's wife.

She could still remember holding her daughter for the first time after delivery.

When did she grow up and marry someone?

Xu Yilan took a deep breath and quickly invited the two of them to sit around the dining table before her daughter could notice the change in her expression.

Zhang Yu Han looked at the dishes served and saw that most of them were the food that he preferred. It seemed that his mother-in-law had noticed the food he liked after eating a meal with him a few times. The thought that she had paid attention to his preferences warmed his heart.

The three of them ate amiably while the couple retold the process of getting their certificates.

Once they finished their meal, Xu Yilan insisted her daughter to return to her room and packed up whatever she might need in her new home.

Li Qin Yao watched her mother with misty eyes at the thought that she will now have to live separately with her mother to follow her husband.

"What are you crying about, you silly girl," Xu Yilan laughed as she patted her daughter on her head. "It's good that you are now married and will now live together with Yu Han. This way, I would feel a lot more at ease too. You know that I am always traveling around due to my job. At least I don't have to worry much when I leave for outstation."

"It feels that I haven't lived with you enough and now I have to leave your side."

"It's not that we're not going to see each other again," Xu Yilan smiled. "We can still see each other and you can always come here whenever you missed me, right?"

Li Qin Yao looked at the luggage on the side and slowly nodded.

"Since you are now married, everything will be between you and Yu Han," Xu Yilan said. "Yao Yao, I wish for your love and relationship to grow stronger every day."

Li Qin Yao had just suppressed her tears, but now that she heard her mother's words, a drop of tear fell on her cheek. "Ma…"

"Listen to him well, and don't throw tantrum when you have a disagreement. Sit down and discuss things together properly." Xu Yilan continued. "Work as a team. The two of you need to be each other's best supporters. Always have trust and respect for each other. Once you lost them, it would be hard to get them back."

"Un." Li Qin Yao continued to nod as she listened to her mother's advice.

"Most importantly, you need to be happy," Xu Yilan let out a helpless sigh as she watched tears streaming down her daughter's cheek. "Yao Yao, I wish a happy married life for you and Yu Han."
