119 Are You Worthy Enough to Have It?

"What are you doing here? You aren't welcome here!" Lu Xinyi clenched her jaw as she went beside her husband who kept silent as soon as he noticed Chairman Sun.

They had met each other before but only to represent their respective companies, unlike now that they were both connected through Shen Yi's marriage to Lu Xinyi.

"I will not stay too long. I just want to visit her."

The old man had long since forgotten when was the last time he saw Lu Xinyi smile. He had also forgotten how to move freely—how to be happy. His aches were his constant companions—not his own blood and kin, and it was always with him. His memories both warmed and haunted him, sometimes drawing a bitter smile and other times, a tear.

The girl that was abandoned and casted out by his other children was now staring at him with hatred and disgust. Something he should had expected after the long years of pain and loneliness Lu Xinyi endured.

"Then go. It's too late for you to regret what you did not do for my mother," Lu Xinyi said as she trembled beside Shen Yi.

Too late. If he had been man enough not to zip down his pants for another woman, his wife and Lu Xinyi's mother wouldn't suffer the consequences. If he had been strong enough to keep his other children at bay, they wouldn't force Lu Xinyi's mother to sign away her inheritance.

"When are you planning to come back, Xin'er?" Chairman Sun asked. He was hoping he wasn't too late to make amends with his granddaughter. After all, Lu Xinyi was still a Sun by blood.

"When you are able to return my mother's brooch to me. The one Feiyan took from me when we were young!" Lu Xinyi demanded. It was the only thing she wanted from the Sun family and nothing else.

The brooch had been passed to several generations of the Sun family. Whoever got the brooch would get the right as the next successor of the family. It was red Bauhinia flower rhinestone brooch pin that Lu Xinyi received from her mother on her eighth birthday. Coincidentally, it was also the last gift she received from her mother.

When she was staying at the Sun Mansion, it was taken by her cousin, Sun Feiyan, and Lu Xinyi had never seen the glimpse of it again. Lu Xinyi had been trying to get it back for years, but Sun Feiyan had left the country ten years ago to study abroad, taking the brooch with her.

Sun Feiyan was considered as the genius and the perfect lady within the Sun family. She excelled in academics and had surpassed the other grandchildren of Chairman Sun, making her the best candidate to be the next successor for Sun Corporation. She currently held the title of Young Miss of the Sun family.

An heiress. Something that Lu Xinyi should have been and not Sun Feiyan!

"The brooch?" Chairman Sun narrowed his eyes and clasped his hands behind his back. "You can only have it if you accept your title as my successor."

Shen Yi observed his wife's unusual behavior. He had never seen her this agitated ever since he'd met her in the cruise. Was her hatred for her mother's family really that deep—that the sight of her grandfather had already put her in this state? She hadn't even mentioned the brooch that they were talking about to him.

Sun Feiyan. Shen Yi was sure he heard that name before but couldn't remember when. He tilted his head and pressed his lips together as he tried to remember where did he hear that name.

Lu Xinyi was just taunting her Aunt Ruying and cousin, Sun Qiyan, during the Shen's charity gala. She never had the intention to join the Sun family just to uplift her status within the society and live a luxurious life. She only wanted to live in peace with Shen Yi while taking back everything her mother owned when she was still alive.

"Then you should forget about it. Only the Young Miss can own that brooch. Your mother might have given it to you, but do you think you are worthy enough to have it?"
