『It’s been a while』

I’m in Sapporo now.

Hokkaido was way hotter than I expected it to be.

I’ve come back to my blog for the first time after the expedition.

Thank you for all your kind PMs.

I’d like to apologize to all of you.

I’ll be reading all of your comments.

I’ve met an interesting person before coming back to Sapporo.

He was a man behind a mask.

He made me look forward to what’s to come.

P.S. To my team members,

Don’t forget about the charger anymore.

Haruki walked through the dungeon’s first floor while looking at its monsters.

It was his first time visiting this dungeon, so he couldn’t use the gate to teleport to his destination.

Since he had to start from the very beginning, Haruki wondered if he should hurry to the 11th floor.

Still, Haruki took it easy.

There were two reasons for that.

The first one was that this was a dungeon he had never been to before.

No matter what would be waiting for him there, it would be a new experience for sure.

By carefully looking at the dungeons and the monsters that appeared in it, he should be able to accumulate experiences he would normally wouldn’t be able to.

That was the best part of this expedition.

The second reason was Esta.

Since Rhea was comfortably set on my backpack, Esta would inevitably walk on the ground.

But he wasn’t too amused by that.

Shaking its tail as if saying “Big sis is so sly!”, he would coil around Haruki’s legs and climb all the way to his shoulders.

That seemed to annoy Rhea somehow.

Haruki wouldn’t normally be out there on the field with Esta.

He had wanted to spoil him a bit by letting him do as he pleased, but he would get in the way during battles.

For that reason, Haruki decided he would look for a place in his body dedicated to Esta, so that he didn’t become a hindrance during battle as they made their way through the dungeon.

The places he was looking into were his shoulders, his back, and his belly.

Rhea was strongly against sharing my back with anyone else.

–Hey, isn’t my own back, well, mine?

Next was the shoulders, but he would constantly bump into Rhea’s nozzle, which would make Rhea angry.

So in the end, Esta ended up wrapping himself around Haruki’s belly.

He looked like some sort of red buckled belt.

It was like something out of a death metal stage.

After a few battles, Esta seemed to have finally found the right spot.

Just below Haruki’s belly, he settled around his waist like an actual belt.

From time to time, he would leap from Haruki’s waist and hit monsters with his carapace.

He was like a belt that could shoot itself like a bullet.

Because of his own body weight and physical strength, Haruki wouldn’t feel any knockback even when Esta jumped out of his waist to attack.

But the same could not be said for the monsters on the dungeon’s first few floors.

Whenever Esta jumped, the monsters made a really painful sound as he collided with them.

“Ah… Our boy Esta is really something else…”

Haruki was really impressed by Esta’s ability to defeat monsters just by pouncing at them.

It brought tears to his eyes.

Esta was even able to one-shoot Black Raccoons.

After all, it seemed that not only his base skills were higher than Haruki’s initial skills, but his basic level was higher as well.

While totally enthralled by Esta’s performance, Haruki caught a glimpse of another adventurer.

“Wha–!?”

Having noticed Haruki had spotted him, the other adventurer became stiff.

However, he was still in the middle of his own fight.

He had let himself wide open.

“Rhea.”

At Haruki’s signal, Rhea brushed off the Black Raccoon that was about to attack the adventurer.

Once it had landed on the ground, the Black Raccoon looked around him twice, wondering what had hit it.

–Don’t kill it, just knock it away.

The fact that just calling her name was enough to fully convey Haruki’s thoughts to Rhea made Haruki smile.

–That was wonderful.

–Ah, Esta…

–That’s alright, we don’t need to attack it anymore.

Haruki comforted the disheartened Esta who was still attached to his waist.

“Sorry if I startled you. Keep it up!”

“Ah, thanks.”

He waved at the adventurer and then quickly left him so as to not get in his way.

Regardless of this event, Haruki still went on exploring the dungeon with Rhea on his back and Esta around his waist.
