Chapter 18：Taken Her as His Sister

'He's missing a sister back at home?'

Fang Miaoling stared at the man driving the vehicle with apparent confusion on her face. She then asked, "Umm… Why me specifically?"

After all, girls like Fang Miaoling could be found throughout Ning University.

As such, she was unable to make sense of Bai Yan's decision in picking her.

Moreover, the man beside her was such a stellar individual. Not only had he been selected as a professor at such a young age, but he was also tall and handsome. Plus, the fact that he drove a Bugatti Veyron every day had also proven that he was a rich man.

'Why does someone as rich, successful, and handsome as him want me as his sister?'

Fang Miaoling racked her brain for an answer, but it was for naught.

Naturally, she also felt flattered deep within her heart, and an indescribable sense of joy welled up within her.

"You just happened to be the most suitable candidate. That's the reason I chose you. I'll send you back to school for now, but next Friday, I'll bring you back to my house and introduce you to my parents. From that point onwards, you can treat them as your very own parents, and you can skip the formalities with me as well."

Bai Yan's tone was plain, and he did not even take a single glance at Fang Miaoling. His eyes were trained forward as he drove his vehicle, and a dark expression shrouded his face like a bunch of thunderclouds.

As Fang Miaoling was aware of Professor Bai's cold attitude, she paid no heed to his ominous expression. Instead, she sat obediently in her seat as she mentally celebrated over his words.

Not long after Fang Miaoling and Bai Yan left, Ji Chen left as well.

Before he left the villa, however, he made sure to give Lu Yifei a call to tell him to take Ji Xiaonian back.

With that, the weekend ended on a dull note.

On Sunday afternoon, Lu Yifei sent Ji Xiaonian to school.

Seeing that Lu Yifei was about to enter the school with his luxury car, Ji Xiaonian hurriedly shouted, "Don't enter the campus! Just leave me at the front gate."

"Why should I?"

Without paying her any mind, Lu Yifei continued driving forward.

Ji Xiaonian bore witness to the sports car entering the campus, and once it happened, she glared viciously at the person driving the vehicle. In an angry tone, she stated, "I don't like being high profile. Also, why did you need to drive so fast? Don't you ever dare drive me to school again."

Upon remembering that Lu Yifei was a bodyguard assigned by her brother, Ji Xiaonian felt disgusted.

If anyone were to find out that she had a bodyguard around her, interacting with the other students at school would prove to be quite difficult.

"Fine, I can choose not to drive you to school, but I still need to attend it anyway!"

After driving his car to the university's parking lot, Lu Yifei stepped out of the vehicle and held the door open for Ji Xiaonian. Following that, he then took off the shades covering his dashing face and smiled at her with his oh-so-mesmerizing eyes.

"Wait, don't tell me you're unaware that I study here? I'm currently in my third year, two semesters ahead of you, but I guess it makes sense. After all, there are over ten thousand students in this institution, so it isn't weird that we've never met before."

He was indeed a student of the university. At that point in time, he was in his third year in the arts stream.

Moreover, he was the idol of many of his juniors and was considered one of the most handsome individuals in the university.

However, despite the giant campus they were in, no one was aware of his sexual orientation.

"Wait, what? You're a student of this school as well?"

Ji Xiaonian stared at the man before her in shock. After getting down from the car and carefully scrutinizing him twice, she shook her head in disbelief. "Why have I never seen you before, then?"

"Didn't I already tell you?! I'm currently in my third year, and with the number of students in this institution, it's normal that you've never seen me before. Heck, if it wasn't for your brother asking me to drive you, I wouldn't have met you."

After patting Ji XIaonian's shoulder, Lu Yifei then smiled majestically as he asked, "Need me to walk you to your dorm?"

Ji Xiaonian shuddered and hastily shook her head. "No, no. No thanks. I think I'll walk there alone… Alright, see ya."

With his white and clean casual wear on, Lu Yifei leaned on his vehicle as he waved goodbye to Ji Xiaonian's receding figure.

For every three steps she took, Ji Xiaonian made sure to turn her head back and look at Lu Yifei. The rays of the afternoon sun had filtered through the branches of the trees, landing stylishly on him, and from afar, Lu Yifei looked no different from a fairytale prince. He was extremely charming.

Alas, he only liked males.

Ji Xiaonian waved goodbye one more time before retracting her gaze and walking towards her dorm with a smile.

She was instantly overwhelmed with an air of indulgence when she opened her dorm's door.

Before she had even gotten a chance to respond, her dormmate, Tang Caiqi pulled at her and flaunted the skirt she had on. "Xiaonian, take a look. Do I look good? It's Chanel."

Before she had even managed to respond, another one of her dormmates, Xiao Xiao pulled Ji Xiaonian to her side and revealed the set of cosmetics in her hand. "Xiaonian, look! Look! All of these are cosmetics imported from Korea. Do you like them?"

"…"

The table before Ji Xiaonian was littered with luxury items.

Ji Xiaonian was slightly confused.

'If memory serves, my dormmates would usually deem even a skirt that costs 200 bucks expensive, so what's up with them today…'

"Xiaonian, I'll let you in on something, Miaoling's rich now."

Noticing the look of shock on Ji Xiaonian's face, Tang Caiqi pulled Xiaonian to her side and whispered sneakily.

Upon hearing the word 'Miaoling,' an ominous premonition stirred within Ji Xiaonian's mind.

"What's… What's up with her?"

"She's been blessed with a fortunate encounter."

Xiao Xiao interjected, and with an envious expression, she continued, "You know Professor Bai, right? That tall and handsome man that drives a Bugatti to school?"

Ji Xiaonian nodded.

Tang Caiqi competed with Xiao Xiao for the right to speak, and in the end, she managed to gain dominance as she excitedly stated, "Did you know? The man has taken her as his sister, and from what Miaoling told us earlier, she's going to live with Professor Bai from this week onwards. Say, don't you think she's luckier than those millionaire lottery winners?"

"Also, all of the luxury items on the table were bought using the money Professor Bai gave her."

"Also, also, Miaoling says that she can treat Professor Bai's parents as her own now. Basically, from this moment onwards, Professor Bai will give Miaoling anything she wants."

Her dormmates' words were like a sharp dagger that was viciously thrust into her heart.

It hurt so much that she was unable to breathe.

'Bai Yan… Has taken Miaoling as his sister?'

'If she's already his sister, would it mean that she'll eventually become… His wife?'

'Is he really going to repay his debt by marriage?'

Once the thought crossed her mind, Ji Xiaonian could no longer hold back her emotions and immediately ran off. However, she did not expect to encounter Fang Miaoling at the entrance to the room.

This time, Fang Miaoling's attitude towards Ji Xiaonian had completely changed.

She was cockier and prouder.

Fang Miaoling winked at her two other dormmates and asked, "Could you guys head out for a while? There's something I'd like to talk to Xiaonian about."

The two dormmates had found the situation odd, but upon remembering the luxurious items that Miaoling had given them, they obediently left the dorm.
