Chapter 13：Why Was I on Your Bed?

Ji Xiaonian decided not to worry about her "bodyguard".

She recalled that Bai Yan had carried her home last night, but she did not remember the other things that he had supposedly done to her.

Ji Xiaonian was certain that Bai Yan liked her, even if it was only a little bit. As such, if she put in more effort, she would probably get that man in the end!

It was the weekend, but Bai Yan still went to the office to work overtime. Ji Xiaonian was carried away by a whim as she held a packed lunch that was lovingly made by her housemaid. She was going to deliver it to Bai Yan in a while.

Ji Chen sat beside her and quietly chuckled before he said, "Why did you make him a packed lunch? Since it's the weekend, I've already made plans with Yan to go fishing at the mountain villa. Anyone else who wants to come along should tell me now, haha. We're going to leave immediately."

She had just walked to the doorway of the kitchen when she suddenly heard her brother saying those things and hurriedly stopped in her tracks before she turned around and ran away. The girl stared at Ji Chen and asked, "Brother, are you serious? But when I left the Bai household, Brother Yan told me that he had to go to the office because of work!"

Ji Chen glanced at his younger sister and said, "When have I ever lied to you? It's up to you whether you want to believe me or not."

As he said that, the man stood up and coldly ordered Lu Yifei, saying, "Start the car."

Lu Yifei faintly bowed his head before he turned around and walked out of the door. Ji Chen got up after him and walked out as well.

Ji Xiaonian looked at their silhouettes as they kept getting further. She recalled that her brother had never lied to her before.

The girl watched as the two men nearly vanished past the doorway before she hurriedly trailed behind them. She quickly held Ji Chen's arm and said, "Brother, I'm coming along."

Ji Chen narrowed his eyes and glanced at the little girl beside him for some time before the corners of his mouth curled up into a smile. He could not help but laugh.

He wondered when he had lost to an outsider despite being her older brother.

Ji Xiaonian would resemble an excited dog whenever Bai Yan's name was mentioned. She had truly reached that age when she was constantly only thinking of men.

Lu Yifei drove over after starting the car's engine when they walked past the villa's courtyard. Ji Xiaonian got into the car with her brother. However, she did not see any sign of Bai Yan despite looking around everywhere.

Since she could not sit still, she anxiously tugged at Ji Chen and asked, "Brother, where is he? Did he go there by himself?"

Ji Chen removed the little girl's bothersome hand before he sluggishly leaned back onto the seat. He casually said before dozing off, "He said that he went to Ning University to pick someone up, but I don't know who it is. That person must be quite important to him since he personally went there to fetch them. We'll just go there first. He knows the way so he'll be there soon."

Ji Xiaonian was speechless.

'Bai Yan went to Ning University to get someone?'

She hoped that it was not true!

'Who did he pick up?'

Ji Xiaonian's mind was disturbed by a flurry of thoughts along the journey. She kept wondering who Bai Yan had gone to pick up.

'Is it a man? Or a woman?'

'Is it a fellow lecturer? Or a student?'

For some reason, she had a bad feeling about this.

They finally reached their destination after a car ride that lasted nearly two hours.

When the car stopped, Ji Xiaonian got down impatiently. She felt extremely happy when she noticed that Bai Yan's car was parked in the parking lot. The girl hurriedly ran around to look for him.

Sure enough, she did not have to venture far into the mountain villa before she caught a glimpse of the man's back.

Bai Yan was sitting beside the lake with a fishing rod placed in front of him. It seemed like he was fishing. Since she was afraid that he would notice her, Ji Xiaonian walked gently as she slowly stepped toward him.

The girl had walked right up to him, but it seemed like Bai Yan had yet to notice her. She reached her little hands out and covered the man's eyes from behind.

"Guess who?" she smiled and asked him in a strange tone.

Bai Yan sat in an upright and still manner, but he had actually noticed that someone was approaching him long ago. However, he chose to ignore the person because he was uninterested.

He had never imagined that the girl would play such a childish game with him.

The man impatiently removed her hands before he said, "You're going to scare my fish away. Be careful. Otherwise, I'll throw you into the lake."

Ji Xiaonian felt a pang in her heart when she heard his stern voice. She felt slightly uncomfortable.

She walked nearer and crouched next to him before she pouted her little mouth. There was a pitiful look on her face when she stared at Bai Yan who was completely focused on fishing.

Ji Xiaonian felt more depressed when she noticed that Bai Yan was unwilling to even look at her.

He was still treating her coldly despite everything that happened the night before. This made no sense!

She frantically tugged at the corners of Bai Yan's shirt while her little face turned red with shame as she said, "Brother Yan, about that… Last night, did we…"

"Don't listen to the nonsense my mother said," Bai Yan interrupted her and answered.

Naturally, Bai Yan already knew what the girl was going to say even before the words left her mouth!

He cast a sidelong glance at her before he said, "Do you really think that I would lay a hand on an inexperienced young girl who was drunk and unconscious? Ji Xiaonian, get those dirty thoughts out of your mind. I'm not as lustful as you've imagined."

It really seemed like nothing had happened between them last night. Bai Yan's face remained expressionless when he finished speaking. After that, he continued looking forward, focusing his attention on fishing.

Ji Xiaonian was frozen next to him when she heard those words. She felt so ashamed that she wanted to crawl into a hole.

'Did nothing… Did nothing really happen between us last night?'

'Why did my waist and back hurt when I woke up this morning?'

According to the novels, she would wake up the next day feeling as though a huge lorry had run over her if they had really done those things together.

She could not believe it. The corners of Ji Xiaonian's eyes turned red as she said, "Can you explain why I woke up on your bed this morning? Also, why does my whole body hurt?"

Ji Xiaonian refused to believe that she had crawled into his bed on her own.

Initially, the girl felt completely hopeless when it came to Bai Yan after he had verbally abused her. However, she was lying on his bed when she woke up this morning. What exactly happened?

If Bai Yan did not harbor any romantic feelings toward her, why did he take her home and let her sleep on his bed?

"Did you really forget everything that happened last night?"

Bai Yan sternly glared at Ji Xiaonian. However, he helplessly knitted his eyebrows in frustration when he noticed that her eyes were red and watery, and she was about to cry.

"Of course I don't remember anything. I was drunk. The only thing I know is that I woke up on your bed. If you didn't agree with it, nobody would have been brave enough to put me there."

"What kind of a man are you? Why are you treating me like this and refusing to admit what you've done? Your mother even told me that you kept coaxing me last night. You said things like 'Niannian, it's not going to hurt anymore. You're going to feel better immediately.' Why did you say all these things?"

"You've clearly taken advantage of me, yet you refuse to take any responsibility for your actions. It really, really hurts down there. You idiot, I'm better off dead now."

Ji Xiaonian noisily complained for a long time before she stood up and prepared to jump into the lake before her.

However, she noticed that the man just sat there, unmoving. Once again, Ji Xiaonian was so furious that she did not know what to do. She turned around and glared at him, stating, "Why aren't you holding me back? If you don't stop me, I'm really going to jump."

Bai Yan lifted his head and looked at her before he flatly nodded and said, "Go ahead and jump. It just so happens that I need more bait for the fish."

"You…"

When Ji Xiaonian noticed that he was coldly looking at her from the sidelines, she was so angry that she nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. She turned around and tugged at his arm before she shook it and acted like a spoiled child. "Answer me! Why was I on your bed? Tell me why!"

Why did Bai Yan allow her to imagine such a wonderful sight, only for him to mercilessly destroy that illusion?

How could this man be so cruel?

Ji Xiaonian was so anxious that she nearly burst into tears.

In reality, Bai Yan had no idea why he brought her home. He had even allowed her to sleep on his bed after he spent the entire night taking care of her.
