Chapter 3: Claude Belmont

The tiny little fairy in my arms name was—She doesn’t have one when I asked her about it, so I started calling her Pix. My naming sense is terrible, but I got no choice since she’s so excited about the fact of having a name because they’re nameless creatures. Forward to the important matters, apparently because of something related to my Karma, I was granted a second chance by her so-called mother.

Then I got transmigrated into the body of someone in the world, Spirit Infinite, the world that my brother always plays in his free time. Furthermore, Pix told me that it was a random selection of worlds, that it’s just a coincidence that I got transmigrated here.

Surprisingly, as I converse with the little fella, I started accepting all these mythical things I’m seeing and hearing. Along with that, there’s a mixed, complicated feeling dwelling inside my chest. Acknowledging that I can’t ever go back to my own world, the feeling of emptiness engulfs me. Weirdly enough, the feeling of missing my parent or brother is non-existent. No matter how much I tried to force myself to feel it, I can’t feel anything...

While at it, I questioned Pix about why was I selected.

“Why me, Pix?”

“I don’t know~” Pix shrugged.

“I’ll change the question then. You’re my guide, right?”

“Actually, you’re correct and wrong~”

“Huh? What do you mean by that?”

“I’ll be your guide, but I won’t stay with you~ Think of it like this, I’m your tutorial helper~”

“Oh... Then, after you explained the stuff to me, you’ll be gone?”

“Yes~”

“So, who’s body is this? And, if this is the world of Spirit Infinite, then all the things that’ll happen in the game will come true?”

“The owner of your current body is a nobody, precisely a side character from the game that’s practically a nobody~ For the next question, there’s no such thing definite~”

“Is there a goal I need to do?”

“You can do whatever you want~”

“So, you’re telling me I can do whatever I want, like destroying the world?”

“Yep~”

“Wait, wait, you guys won’t care at all, at anything I will do?”

“Yes~”

“Seriously?”

Pix was standing right on the palm of my hands, looking up at me. She flew right to my face and flicked me with her tiny hand, which is surprisingly powerful because it made me exclaimed in pain.

“Argh—! What is that for?!”

Rubbing the part where she flicked. Honestly, I could feel something is swelling in my forehead. What kind of monstrous strength does this girl have? She’s tiny, but the flick she gave is something not to be ridiculed for. That hurts a lot.

“To wake you up~”

“... Seriously? I’m just aski— Haah... I get it now. No need to explain anything further, but I have one last question. Since I’m living inside this body, can’t you at least tell me some useful information about this dude’s past or something? Like, his family? What if one of this body’s acquaintances approaches me? What would I say? Then...”

Watching her, I could see her temple twitching in irritation. I gulped. Before I could even apologize, Pix suddenly appeared right in front of my face. She lifted her left leg, giving me a devastating kick in between my forehead. Which resulted in me losing my consciousness. Afterward, a ridiculous amount of information started pouring into my head.

────────────

Waking up from my slumber, suddenly an intense pain of headache followed after opening my eyes. A memory started appearing in my head, one by one. This body owner’s name was Claude Belmont, a descendant of the Belmont family, a noble family. However, Claude was exiled from the family because of his incompetence as to why he’s now living in the house which his family provided for him to live by himself. He was banished at the age of 10, and ever since, he’s been living by himself.

Reminiscing those memories, I can’t help myself but grit my teeth in anger. I know those memories aren’t mine but do they really need to be this cruel in a child? They practically abandoned him! He’s just a child! How can they do this!

Belmont family, the family keeper of the Guardian White Dragon or the Lunar Dragon, is one of the most powerful mythical beasts in the entire world, a Deity-level. However, one day, the dragon seemingly disappeared, as if it didn’t exist anymore. Or what the rumors say is that the Belmont family was abandoned by their Guardian.

Because of that reason, the family of Belmont started declining gradually with the disappearance of their sacred beast, along with their credibility as one of the strongest knights in the entire country of Krishna. For hundreds of years, the Belmont Family did everything they could do to appease the sacred once more, but the beast hasn’t found a suitable vessel until the appearance of the person named Morino Shin.

Color me surprised. The person who was chosen among millions of people around the globe, the protagonist Shin, isn’t a Belmont at all, but he’s the only vessel chosen by the sacred beast from its hundreds of years in slumber. However, after that, I’m not certain if Shin was selected to be part of the family because he’s the chosen vessel of the sacred beast. Is the Belmont family an ally or enemy of the protagonist?

Pix did say that I’m a side character, but if the Belmont family is an enemy of the protagonist—Doesn’t that mean I’ll be an enemy too? On the flip side, I’m an exiled member so I have no relations with them anymore. That’ll do.

After waking up, I searched around for Pix, but there are no traces of her anywhere. Although there’s a letter on the desk, I took and read it. It states.

‘You’re annoying. You’re annoying. You’re annoying. You’re annoying...’

And it goes on but at the end of the letter, there’s her signature with a cartoony drawing of her angry face.

What the hell is this letter?

After completely reading the letter, it suddenly vanished into thin air. I’m not surprised by it anymore, I finally accepted the situation I’m in right now. Moreover, I’m in an Eroge game! That means magic and girls!

“Haah... Why am I not the protagonist? That’s so unfair... I’m practically a nobody at this point, an exiled side character with no significant part to the storyline.”

Anguishing about the discrepancy of a side character like me to the protagonist himself, the gap is too huge for me to reach. In addition to that, I do not know how the story would progress at all since I only played a few times. If I ever interfere with the storyline, there are two paths that I can only choose, life or death. My lack of knowledge about the story will surely screw me up.

Mulling over my thoughts, my stomach made some grumbling noise. I prompted downstairs to the kitchen. While heading downstairs, I can’t believe how I’m now living in an enormous house by myself. It’s kind of depressing when I think about it.

Opening the refrigerator, there’s nothing in here other than a can of sodas and bottles of water. It’s completely empty. While at it, I opened the freezer. It all contained ice creams—A lot of ice creams. The devil inside me is tempting me to eat the ice creams, but what I need right now is proper food. Ignoring it, I opened a little shelf to the side and saw the number of cup noodles inside the shelf—It’s full of them!

“How is this guy still alive? There’s nothing in here other than cup noodles with various flavors. This is probably the reason why this body is so scrawny-looking. It’s like my old body with extra few fats. It’s better to eat something than nothing.”

Then I remembered Claude is saving up his money because the amount of money left by his family won’t be able to suffice him for 5 years. And, Claude’s age right now is 13, which means he can’t get a job too until he reached the age of 18. He’ll die of starvation. Moreover, he can’t sell the house because the property is still named after the Belmont household. They deliberately gave him money that’s only good for 5 years for him to rot in this shitty ass house.

That’s the sole reason why he devised a plan for him to be able to survive, which is to live off junk foods that are cheap and sufficient enough to fill up his stomach.

“Tsk, they don’t have souls.”

Claude’s parents didn’t even batt an eye on him when they learned his incompetency, nor even retaliated to the heads of the family when their own son was shunned away. Just because he doesn’t have any talents with swordsmanship and ain’t that bright, that doesn’t mean they need to abandon the child.

“Heartless bastards!” clenching my hands tightly in anger.

Because of that reason, Claude became a depressing child and drowned himself in studying. Even though, he knew that he’s not that smart. He worked hard on studying various theories about mythical beasts. At the very least, he didn’t resort to drugs or anything bad to answer his depression.

If I’m correct, there’s this neighbor girl who’s quite... of Claude...

After heating the water with a kettle, I poured it into the cup of noodles and waited. While waiting for the noodles to be cooked, I heard a knock on the door.
