Chapter 35 - 9

" I will get the things you want to be done. Contact Fox tomorrow. He will make all.the arrangements for this done. " He said before leaving in a similar fashion he arrived.

He glided away from the balcony and headed off to make his night rounds.

" Is there a reason, why you decided to threaten him like that, master?" Lisa asked him as she projects herself as a hologram and appeared with Thomas.

Thomas simply smiled and didn't answer her. He heads inside the penthouse and decided to make himself a drink.

He felt there is no need to add other people in their little secret. The lesser people know about the fact, the better.

" Let's just say he is a good son. And leave it at that. " with those words he headed inside, leaving a confused Artificial Intelligence.

His drink doesn't mean wine, whiskey or anything alcoholic. Some drink to enjoy the intoxicated state, some just for fun, and some because it is good for health.

But Thomas doesn't like to drink. He remembered drinking once in his last life when he completed high school and went to the picnic with his friends back then.

He entered the kitchen with a bag he carried with himself. He picked out some fresh oranges and started to shed their skin and run them through the grinder.

He used the strainer and added a pinch of salt and some ice cubes from the fridge and took a sip.

He is addicted to oranges. The taste of them whether it be as fruit or as the juice is something he liked more than anything.

To savor his addiction, he even bought many orchards around the world. These orchards specialise in Valencia Orange, Navel orange as well as Clementine Orange variety.

Thomas makes sure than enough stock of these oranges are left for himself to enjoy. His stock is completely separate, not even his family is allowed to touch it.

In this matter, he is not willing to share. Not a single piece is shared with anyone.

As for whether they earn him a profit or not, it is never a question.

After he drunk the juice and went to another drink, he looks towards Lisa who has some question for himself.

" What about Mr. Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot? Are you going to agree to that deal he offered?" Lisa asked him.

This Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot is a very popular character in any series related to Gotham and Batman, for one very important reason, he is one of the main rivals and opponent of Batman.

He is popularly known as Penguin. This man is of short and chubby stature and wears a tuxedo, top hat, monocle, white gloves, and spats.

He is an eccentric criminal mastermind, known as much for his love of ornithology and trick umbrellas as for his already shady business dealings.

The distinguishing feature of penguin and other villains of Batman is very contrasting.

A mobster-type criminal, he fancies himself a "gentleman of crime". Unlike most Batman villains, he is sane and doesn't theme his crimes around a psychotic obsession; his intelligence and aristocratic personality starkly contrast against demented Batman villains.

The Penguin recently became a mobster and nightclub owner who engages in quieter criminal activity whom Batman tolerates as a source of criminal underworld information.

" Why should we not agree to his deal? This is a very good offer for us." He said seeing no reason to refuse the deal.

" But no business especially a veteran like Mr. Cobblepot can give us so many benefits. Don't we need to check the things there and then decide whether we should agree or not?" Lisa inquired her master.

Thomas laughed at her words.

In fact, we are now the target and he is reaping benefits behind our back. We have become his shield.

Should we fall he will lose little, but if we rise then he can become our agent at Gotham and reap the benefits along with the underworld of Gotham? " Thomas revealed the things which Oswald, aka Penguin earned from the deal they have signed a couple of hours ago.

" If so then why do accept his offer and become a target?" I am very confused." Lisa inquiries her master and used the best confused looking expression she could find on the internet or through any platform which she is connected to.

Thomas shook his head at her effort to look cute and elaborated, "Whatever we do, Lisa, we will be targeted. So it is better for us to use this in our favour.

We can use our difficult situation to get more benefits for us. We don't lack money, Lisa but we lack able men.

Oswald is a smart shrewd man. He is trying to make connections. Even if he fails, he can have a good relation with us.

As long as I am alive, Allens is going to thrive. This is something he understands better than anyone else. "

Lisa tried to follow what he is trying to say, " So now we are waiting for people to come and make deals with us. With those deals, we can become one with the network of Gotham, later becoming a member of it.

But, I still don't understand why? I have scanned the hat and the control machine, you don't have to personally come and get it, so why?"

" Because of Gotham itself. " he finally replied to her question.

"Huh" she gave a very human-like response to his answer.

"Gotham is a very dangerous city where people are either crazy or become crazy trying to live here. This craziness is infectious.

It has made many skilled people a victim to certain circumstances which made them become a villain.

And that the reason I am here. What I wish to really do is get these people to work under me? They can boost the strength of our family. We have expanded greatly over the years but our lack of leaders at certain field have inhibited that growth.

I cannot just use robots everywhere to replace them. So Gotham will get me the mid-level officers for the job?"

Thomas reason for coming to Gotham is to fill the ranks which are still empty. How will this go, and who all are going to be a part of this?
