Chapter 43 - Clan

After leaving the underworld, Leo, Sona, Akeno, and Rias met Yuuto who was fleeing death. Unlike the canon, Sona and Rias found him before he died and could save his life.

At the same time, Leo tested his skills and "train" with the group of exorcists who were chasing Yuuto and after consuming the soul of the exorcists he was training with, he found a strange barrier that according to memories of Leo was Tosca who had activated her Sacred Gear. After discovering this, he left immediately.

The next day after the previous events, Sona's fiancé Bane met her at the Sitri mansion to introduce her to his girlfriend Ruriko. Hearing this, Sona gave him the ultimatum he had to play a game of chess with her since she would marry no one who is less intelligent than her. Linet, the trusted servant of the Sitri clan upon learning this. All she could do was contact Serafall.

Meanwhile, Leo continues to observe the memories of the exorcist Kusunoki Yachi but on the day of his wedding with Itami Ryo, the memories fragmented and preventing him from seeing more of these.

Sona for her part after her conversation with Linet went to visit Yuuto in the hospital where they informed him that the boy was dying.

In the Tomika's house, exactly in the bathroom attached to Leo's room.

The sound of water resonated in the bathroom, accompanied by a sweet voice that hummed a song of unknown origin.

Once dressed, she rolled the towel around her head again and headed for the kitchen.

"Huh? Serafall, how long have you been here?" Satomi asked as soon as she noticed Serafall.

"I arrived an hour ago, I was bathing in Leo's room," Serafall said as she rummaged through the counter drawers until she found a bag of potatoes.

"Satomi-chan, are you going out?" Serafall asked when she noticed Satomi's outfit.

"Yes, Suezo and I have to work," she replied.

"Did Leo say anything about going back to school?" Satomi asked, concern showing in her voice.

"He has said nothing but doesn't worry, I'll talk to him," Serafall replied with a smile.

"Okay," Satomi nodded, a little relieved.

Serafall nodded and returned to Leo's room.

In the room, she went to a corner and created a small chair with her ice magic followed by cushions made of water magic.

She created all of this in seconds. She was already used to doing it. With a smile, she sat down on the sofa and created a magic circle shaped like a television.

"Sigh ... that's better." Serafall sighed with satisfaction.

Since the exorcist base was found, she had plenty of work, plus Sirzechs was already taking over most of the work so she could escape cough ... finish her job earlier than planned.

Remembering the work, she returned her gaze to the sleeping Leo. He burned the entire exorcist base and pick up that strange barrier.

Since arriving at Leo's house for a brief break, she found this strange scene, Leo sleeping and next to his bed a strange barrier that is surely the origin of the magical pulse that Rias felt.

"Tsk" Serafall clicked her tongue in annoyance.

She wasn't upset that the barrier had protection; she was upset that he altered the spell she taught him.

In all these years, she only taught him one offensive spell and a few more spells like creating illusions, barriers, and entry-level elemental magic.

But he always altered them and create variations. The barrier he put in his room was an obvious example of this, he combined the barrier with illusions, something that seemed simple but was not.

Sighing, she continued to eat her potatoes and watch television. She should thank Satomi. Although she was reluctant to take off her dress, she had to accept that being like this was very comfortable.

As she enjoyed her brief break, a magic circle appeared in her ear.

"Serafall-sama" Linet's voice sounded through the magic circle.

"I swear I was working," Serafall blurted.

"It has nothing to do with work, Lord Sitri has already arrived from his journey," Linet replied in exasperation.

'She's avoiding her job again.' She thought a little annoyed.

Serafall already knew what happened to Sona's fiancé. She initially planned to go immediately to confront her father, but he was not in the mansion at that moment.

Quickly changing into her mahō shōjo outfit, Serafall prepared herself to teleport.

"Serafall, what are you doing here?" Leo vocalized slowly, for the first time in his life, his body felt slow and he couldn't think too well.

Slowly, he made his demonic energy run through his body, and at last, the strange sensation disappeared. It was something he learned after his first time.

"It's something I found at the exorcist base."

"I know that, but why didn't you tell me about this?" Serafall asked with a pout.

"I have no obligation to tell you everything I do," Leo replied.

"Still, we don't know if it's dangerous. Better let me take it with me to the underworld to examine it," Serafall said, a little surprised by Leo's attitude.

"I picked it up, it's my problem," Leo said with annoyance.

'Why is he angry?' Serafall thought. It was easy to deduce that he was not in a pleasant mood and the claw mark on his forehead made the job even easier, it was usually open leaving a gap between his eyes but now the gap was minimal.

She said nothing, she just kept silent

"Sorry but I have something to do," Leo said. After a few seconds, his mark had already disappeared, and he was calmer.

Serafall wanted to ask more, but she held back, she had many questions but no matter the answers she got she couldn't do almost anything, her position as Satan limited her a lot and she didn't want to do it either.

"Sigh ... whatever you do, don't do something stupid," Serafall said, she might as well let Leo guard the barrier, it was better than dealing with those old nobles.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid" Leo said trying to reassure her. He could never know what she thought.

"You better remove that protection spell. That black flame is not a joke" She knew very well what that flame was capable of, her ice spells were ineffective and that bothered her a lot.

"Protection spell?" Leo muttered in confusion. He never put a protection spell on it.

"Also, stop playing ignorant. Your parents worry that you will not class and that you do not interact with children your age," Serafall said before a magic circle enveloped her and disappeared.

Leo just shook his head, he knew he was right, but he didn't want to worry about it right now he was more confused by the first thing he said to him.

Looking at the barrier, he slid his hand across the surface of it, and nothing happened.

Leo sighed, a little frustrated. He would have to wait long before he could see the person inside.

But all things had to follow their rhythm. First, he had to go to a specific place.

According to the memories of the exorcists and researchers, Valper was evacuating the bases where experiments with children the devils, the church, and the angels were hot on his heels, so, he decided not to move the bases too fast.

That was something that surprised Leo. At first, he thought it only existed in the laboratory where Yuuto was, but there were more exactly four. In these four places were test subjects who had had a "successful" result. Some could carry holy swords, but the state they were in was unstable.

He did not know whether to believe Valper's words, but if everything was as he said then all three factions were in terrible shape.
