48 Meeting the Pickpocket Once Again

Kirou was currently walking out of the subway station when he caught sight of a familiar silhouette just outside of the crowd of people. The person seemed to be looking for someone but was dejected as they couldn't find them. Seeing the person, Kirou only looked on with a raised eyebrow before deciding to approach them unseen. He had a feeling that he was the one that person was on the lookout for.

As Kirou approached the person, he couldn't stop a thought from entering his mind, 'I wonder why she looks so dejected? It doesn't look like she's out for revenge so what's up with her?'

**********

Leaning against a wall, roughly thirty meters away from the entrance of the subway station was a girl with short, red hair. She was currently dressed in a navy blue T-shirt, black jeans that went all the way to her ankles, showing off her tall legs and a pair of comfortable running shoes. All in all, this was a trendy college student that most men would try to hit on after seeing her from afar.

Such a thing wouldn't happen now, however, as the girl was currently in a very bad mood. For the last few days, she has been waiting outside of the subway station both in the mornings and evenings in order to catch the person that got in her way that day. This feeling became even more pronounced when she remembered that he got the drop on her in that alley, as well as the note he left. Thinking back on those moments caused the girl's face to turn red. Whether it was from anger or embarrassment, only she knew.

"I'll definitely get you back for that day, you bastard," said the girl under her breath. She said this quietly, not expecting anyone to hear her with how rowdy the area currently was. Unfortunately for her, there was someone nearby to hear all of it. In fact, this person even adopted a smile on his face afterward.

The man approached her quietly and stopped right next to her before leaning back on the wall and spoke up just enough for her to hear, "Well, here I am. How do you plan to get even with me, young miss?"

Following those words, the girl immediately turned her head in the direction of the voice. To say she was shocked to find that someone had approached her and got so close without her knowledge would be an understatement. She carefully looked over the man who was now smiling at her with a fire burning in her eyes. The girl wanted to punch the man right then and there but before she could muster up the courage to do so, the man spoke up.

"How is your head? There wasn't any swelling when I last checked but I want to hear your personal thoughts on the matter." When the man said this, he acted as if he didn't see the rage in the girl's eyes, nor was he talking about something that he did.

Hearing his question, the girl was slightly startled at first before this turned into a buildup of rage within her body. She never expected the man to actually have the nerve to ask about that when he was the one to cause it. Seeing the girl's reaction, the man's smile only got bigger.

The girl eventually released a deep breath, forcing the anger to subside just long enough for her to speak, "It's doing fine now. It would have been much better if a certain someone had never used a brick on it in the first place." When the girl spoke, it was as if the rage she had just suppressed was threatening to explode once again.

The man just nodded his head at the words the girl just spoke, as if the ordeal itself had absolutely nothing to do with him. Seeing his nonchalant attitude, the girl's anger exploded and she threw a punch at the man. The man caught the girl's first and before she could do anything else, pulled her close so that it looked like both were hugging from the point of view of the passersby. A few of the people that were paying attention to the two started to look elsewhere, pretending to not see what the two were up to. Secretly though, from the corner of their eyes, those people were paying very close attention to the two.

With the man now so close to her, the girl was visibly flustered and wanted to pull away. Before she could do so, however, the man spoke into her ear, his warm breath tickling her ear, "No need to be so hostile, young miss. There are better ways to settle this score of ours. How about we take this convo elsewhere? Or would you rather we stay like this, continuing to attract the attention of all those nosey spectators." As the man said this, he turned their bodies slightly, allowing the girl to see a few people pretending to look away while secretly watching them. This caused the girl to turn red once again before she nodded her head, prompting the man to release her.

"Follow me." After saying this, the man started walking in the direction of a popular dessert store close to the subway station. The girl followed the man with her head lowered, still slightly red from earlier.

Now that the duo was leaving, those curious and nosey viewers all clicked their tongues before going about their respective businesses. It seems that the show was over and it was time to return to their usual, boring lives.

As the duo walked, the man made sure to look over his shoulder every once in a while to make sure no one was watching or following them. He never doubted that the girl would follow him as she had seen his note. Naturally, this man was Kirou.

*********

The duo was currently sitting at a table within the dessert store. Kirou had an iced coffee before him while the girl had a few servings of chocolate ice cream before her. Kirou watched as the girl went through all those servings of ice cream while he took his time to enjoy his iced coffee, The duo went on like this for over ten minutes before Kirou finally decide it was time to speak.

Kirou made sure to tap the table a few times, gaining the girl's attention before he spoke, "Now that you've calmed down, would you mind telling me why you've been looking for me for the last few days?"

The girl looked at Kirou for a bit, studying his body language, before she responded, "You saw my ID. You know my name and which college I go to. How could I not go looking for you after that." The girl said this with a tinge of anger laced into her voice, but it seems that the ice cream had done its job and kept her head cool.

Kirou snorted when he heard the girl's words, causing her to narrow her eyes as she stared at him. In response to that, Kirou just gave a carefree shrug before speaking up once more, "You robbed my coworker that very morning and I took back those items from you. Not nine hours later, you try to rob me, only to fail constantly and you refused to give up because of that pride of yours. That resulted in you falling for my trap and getting hit over the head with a brick." When Kirou said this, the girl started to gnash her teeth in anger but Kirou ignored this and he continued, "Following that, you woke up less than an hour later and found a note within your wallet, warning you that I know who you, Su Jinya, are and that you should be careful to avoid me from now on if you don't want anyone to find out your secret hobby. Yet for the next few days, you've been constantly trying to find me. You tell me, should you really be trying to poke the hornet's nest so soon?"

When the girl, now identified as Su Jinya heard this, she lowered her head to face the table. While she didn't want to admit it, Kirou did have a point in saying that she probably should have avoided him for the next few days instead of actively looking for him. Only she, herself, knows that it was due to her stubbornness and pride at defeat that made her continue to search and it was those same feelings that left her dejected when she couldn't find him.

Seeing her like that, Kirou finished what was left of his iced coffee before raising from the table. Su Jinya raised her head, only to see a note sitting before her as Kirou made his way towards the cashier. Su Jinya looked from Kirou to the note before opening it up and reading its contents.

The note went like this;

'You can try to get your revenge by competing with me during the morning commutes. Just know that whenever you fail, you will lose something very important to yourself and it shall only be returned during the evening of that day. We'll go over why you failed along with ways to improve at this shop every time. I'll cover this one but the next round is on you for every day you fail.'

'Ps: I suggest you trade in stripes for solid colors. While the stripes do look nice, I get the feeling a solid color with a bit of frill would suit you more.'

After reading that last line, Su Jinya was visibly confused for a moment. It took her a few seconds before she realized what that line was talking about and when she did, she turned to the direction of the store cashier, only to see no one there. It seems like Kirou was already long gone before she finished reading the note.

Su Jinya tightened her fists and gnashed her teeth in anger, while a slight blush had formed on her face. 'I'll definitely get you back, you perverted bastard. Just you wait.' This was Su Jinya's thought as she was about to stand up and storm out of the store, only to be stopped by a waitress bring over another serving of chocolate ice cream. The college student gradually sat down and ate the ice cream quietly.

'I'll definitely get back at that pervert on Monday. I wonder if I should follow his advice.' That was a subconscious thought that went through Su Jinya's. While she would never admit it out loud, it seems like her interaction with Kirou has given her an interest in the young man that was capable of stealing from her.

Kirou was now sitting within the living room of his apartment. Due to the events that transpired today both during and after work, Kirou decided that instead of jumping into Immortal Era as soon as he got home, he would now do some more research on Immortal Era itself.

As it stood, Kirou was still an ignorant man when it comes to games, especially one as popular as Immortal Era. He was at a loss at how guilds operate within the game and the various relationships each top guild has with each other. In fact, he wasn't even sure how many top guilds even exist in Immortal Era or what they were about. It is for reasons like this why he's decided to take some time in order to check this out online. As usual, information obtained in any capacity would be taken with a grain of salt but Kirou just wanted something to work with.

Another thing that Kirou is ignorant of is the map of Immortal Era. Thinking back on the convo he had with the other security guards a few days back got him thinking and it was time for him to search for all of these bits of info he's missing. And the first place he went with this search was the webpage for Immortal Era itself. If there is one place that such basic information can be found easily, it had to be the website dedicated and created by the gaming company itself and that was exactly where Kirou started with his search.
