35 Chapter 149: Danger 2

By now, all the workers in the hotel already recognised Yi Fei as the fiancée of their boss, so Yi Fei can quickly go in and out of the hotel without any problem.

There were some issues with the construction of the Wu Courtyard, so Wu Chen has been spending more time in his office recently. Jun Liu had it more comfortable since his company is only in charge of the construction. All the internal issues are the Wu Group's responsibility.

There were some issues of the site owner. The last time they checked, they had contacted all the related landowners of the site where the Wu Courtyard will be built. Suddenly, just a few days ago, a few other people emerged out of the blue, claiming that their small pieces of land were also included in the site.

The alleged landowners asked for compensation regarding their rights whatsoever. The people even threaten to sue the Wu Group for invading their private land. The huddle of lawyers for Wu Group had been busy trying to solve the issue.

The landowners also hired a lawyer to represent them – it was Zi Yi.

When Yi Fei reached Wu Chen's office, she saw that Wu Chen was in the middle of a call, so she strode towards the sofa, waiting for Wu Chen to finish his business call.

"I already ask the chef to prepare your favourite food" Wu Chen walked towards Yi Fei right after he finished his business call. Yi Fei's smile is all he needs after working all day.

The food came shortly after that, and both of them eat happily. After eating, Wu Chen asked Yi Fei to wait for a bit because he needed to settle some issues before he sent her back.

Wu Chen will send Yi Fei's back to her house, and Liu Shi will drive Yi Fei's car for her. It has been their normal routine for two weeks now. Inside the car, Yi Fei remembered something about the chilling feeling she has been getting recently.

"Chen Chen, do you think people have a bad intention towards other people for no reason at all?" Yi Fei tried to remember anything wrong she did the past few days but she couldn't recall any. She was confident that she didn't do anything that might offend other people.

"What kind of question is that?" Wu Chen glanced at Yi Fei who was staring right into his eyes.

"You know. Like when you do nothing wrong but people hate you for no reason, and because they hate you for no reason, they have a bad intention towards you for no reason too."

Wu Chen didn't understand what Yi Fei was trying to say, but he tried his best to answer her.

"Fei Fei, there's always a reason for everything. Why are you asking this?"

Yi Fei did not respond to Wu Chen's question, but after a few minutes, she released a loud sigh.

"Maybe I am paranoid for no reason. Or maybe, you are the reason." Then Yi Fei stopped as if she thought of something."Oh my god, it fits" Then suddenly Yi Fei sang You Are The Reason by Calum Scott, and she swayed her body to left and right while pointing towards Wu Chen.

Wu Chen laughed then he pinched Yi Fei's cheek. The little idiot got distracted easily. "Anything bothering you?"

Yi Fei stopped playing and started recounting about how she felt as if someone's was watching her and she felt that whoever was watching her had an evil intention towards her. Seeing how Wu Chen frowned right after she finished telling him about the thing that bothered her, Yi Fei attempted to ease his mind.

"But don't worry Chen Chen. Maybe it was one of the stray cats in school. There's this adorable calico cat in school; I always feed her with kibbles I bring from home. Then, there's also this tabby cat that got jealous whenever I give food to the calico cat. Maybe the tabby cat held some grudges towards me and then watched me with anger, hoping that he could take revenge on me sooner or later".

The way Yi Fei told him about the cats at school temporarily shifted Wu Chen's mood from gloomy to happy. Wu Chen made a mental reminder to send Jason to Faith Middle School.

When both of them reached the apartment complex, Wu Chen sent Yi Fei to the door of her house. He wanted to stay until NaNa was back, but he needed to make a few calls regarding the issue with Wu Courtyard. So, Yi Fei asked Wu Chen to go back and settle his work first.

Wu Chen left unwillingly, but Yi Fei assured him that she will be alright and that, she'll lock the door securely since recently, NaNa never forgets about her keys anymore.

The next morning, Yi Fei felt much better after she told Wu Chen about the things that bothered her. She figured out that the whole thing might be her imagination, but she was determined not to stay late until dark in the school. Yi Fei told Wu Chen that she felt much better after telling him the things that bothered her. Since Yi Fei said to him that she felt better, Wu Chen did not send Jason to Faith Middle School.

The whole day went smoothly without her getting any feeling of being watched whatsoever. Yi Fei was also extra happy today because NaNa and she will go to the supermarket for their grocery shopping. It has been a while since they went out to get grocery. Both of them did not have any dinner date with their respective boyfriend, which is a rare occasion, because both men were busy with Wu Courtyard, so they are going for their girl's outing.

Wu Chen was glad that Yi Fei had someone to accompany her even when he could not for the day, but a bad thing was about to happen without warning.

Yi Fei and NaNa went to their regular supermarket. It was the same supermarket where Wu Chen caught a rapist who went after Li Wei. But since that case happened, the police had been doing an hourly round in that area. So the people rest assured that the place had become much safer compared to last time.

But some bad people are way too smart.

During the evening, the parking lot in the supermarket was usually a bit deserted because most of the people in City L did their grocery shopping when it was still bright. Yi Fei parked her car in the parking lot near the exit that led to the main road. Even the main street was deserted.

The area where Yi Fei parked her car was well-lit by the lamp post so both the ladies felt safe and walked towards the supermarket without worry. When they were about fifteen steps away from the car, NaNa remembered that she has a discount coupon of the supermarket in her bag so she wanted to take it so that they could use it later.

NaNa was amused by how useful a discount coupon is. She never used them before she knew Yi Fei but seeing how much they saved their money when they use the coupon, NaNa was thrilled. Yi Fei handed her car key to NaNa and waited at the spot where she was standing at the moment – fifteen steps away from her car.

NaNa strolled towards the car, thinking of what should they buy in the supermarket.NaNa was so excited for grocery shopping that she was not aware of the danger in the form of a van that was driving slowly behind her.

Yi Fei suddenly had a bad feeling about the van. The windows are heavily tinted that it was impossible to see anything inside it. But the thing that made Yi Fei suspicious was that the bus looked precisely like the van she saw in the pedobear meme. The only missing item on the van would be the poorly written 'free candy' on it.

Everything about the van was suspicious to Yi Fei, especially how it was moving in a slow speed tailing right behind NaNa. Yi Fei saw this in the action movie she watched when she was a teenager. The van will tail the target, and when they reached the target, the door of the van will open slowly. Then, the kidnapper will pull the target inside their van and fled.

Without realising, her feet started moving towards NaNa. It could be her overly active imagination, but she was very uncomfortable.

After moving five steps, Yi Fei shouted: "NaNa, run!" If the whole thing was only her being paranoid, then let it be. It's not as if people were watching them in the parking lot.

NaNa turned around to look at Yi Fei who shouted at her and then she saw that the van that was only a few steps behind her opened its door.NaNa didn't know what happened, but she saw that there were two pairs of hand from the door tried to reach out for her and Yi Fei dashed towards her in panic.

The two pairs of hands were not able to grab NaNa because Yi Fei pushed NaNa out of the way. Instead, Yi Fei was the one seized by the four hands, and she got pulled inside the van. The van raced towards the exit and fled from the scene. NaNa was so shocked by what happened that she screamed for help while trying to catch up with the van but of course she couldn't keep up.

The hysterical scream from NaNa attracted some people. Some of them called the police. NaNa was crying nonstop because she was the target of those kidnappers, but since Yi Fei pushed her out of the way, Yi Fei was taken instead.

NaNa fished out her phone to call Wu Chen and to tell him about the news. After that, she called Jun Liu. NaNa felt helpless. She stared at Yi Fei's car key in her hand. If only she knows how to drive, she'll go after the van. At this moment, she hated herself for being useless.

Wu Chen massaged his temple. That Zi Yi is a formidable foe.

His phone rang, and he saw that the caller is NaNa. Feeling slightly disappointed that it wasn't Yi Fei who called him; Wu Chen answered the phone anyway.

"Brother…Brother Chen… I am sorry…so sorry… Yi Fei…she...she…Yi Fei…" NaNa was crying at the other end of the phone. Wu Chen had a bad feeling about this.

"Calm down. What happens with Yi Fei?" Wu Chen wanted NaNa to tell him quickly but when someone was crying like how NaNa cried at the moment, urging them to speak faster won't help.

"She is kidnapped, but I can't do anything…" NaNa was crying even louder.

Wu Chen asked for her current location and dashed to the supermarket. Damn supermarket. He swears that he'll buy the whole area and upgraded the security around that area. He was cursing nonstop, and he was afraid. Afraid that something terrible will happen to his Yi Fei.

Inside his car, Wu Chen called Liu Shi. "I don't care how you do it; I want Yi Fei with me as soon as possible."

Yi Fei opened her eyes slowly. She was inside a house; in a tiny room. And both her legs and hands were tied. Okay, so now she felt as if she was inside an action movie. Except that she was the victim here.

She remembered that right after she got pulled inside the car, one of the people inside the van covered her mouth with a cloth.They freaking used chloroform on her. So, the thing she saw in the movie was real.

Then she heard voices outside the room. She felt as if the voices were familiar.

"I told you to grab the tall lady, not the short one."

"But she pushed the tall lady, and we grabbed her instead. Can't she do?"

"To whom are we going to ask for ransom? She's not rich. The tall lady is the rich one."

"Maybe we could ask ransom from the tall lady since the short one saved her, she might pay us the ransom if she feels guilty about this. Let's pray that she has a conscience."

The voices stopped after sometime. Yi Fei got panic. What will happen to her now? The door opened to reveal a person she knows.

"Hello Miss Fei, how are you?"
