Chapter 284 - The Night Together-III

Reasons for Seulgi not to leave the hospital is due to her body that had changed drastically like a half-vampire. While her condition was in fact, stable and healthy, it can't be said the same when one was speaking about a human's health condition. Her parents, after the kidnapping incident became more adamant about protecting her even if it means Seulgi needed to stay in the hospital for a longer time.

Seulgi at first, thought her stay in the hospital would be boring to her death. That was until she met Lee Taehyung, the doctor who stole her heart and breath in a glance at their first meeting.

Since the last time Lee Taehyung spend a night with her and talked inside her room, it had become a routine for her to wait for his arrival and talked through the night unless and until Taehyung had to leave for his work.

With more nights they shared and their talk that gradually became deeper and closer, Seulgi's love for Taehyung only grew to full bloom. The only question and problem were whether Taehyung shared the same feeling to her. Seulgi tried to find out but there was to an extent that she could do to know the man's feeling when she couldn't read his mind. She had gained the ability to detect a human's heartbeat, but Taehyung's heartbeat had been the very quiet and serene pace, never beating too fast like how she would when he came near her.

Seulgi latches her hope on the fact that Taehyung always visited her at night, which makes her more special than the rest of the patient and she hoped that it wasn't only her wish but a fact.

"And Seoyeon kicked the girls by their knees," Seulgi continued her story, telling about Seoyeon, and chuckles left her lips under Taehyung's watch. "She is very strong-headed when it comes to justice. I have never seen her letting others bully the weak when she was near them. Although it's due to that, most teachers, instead believed that Seoyeon was a delinquent and the bully even though it wasn't true."

"People's perception often comes by seeing the worse. The worse that person's story is the more believable it is to others, and they would believe the false instead of the truth, which why even the kindest would turn to a villain," Taehyung responded, having Seulgi to nod.

"But Seoyeon is different, regardless of what others said, she had always walked on her path. She is the strongest woman I have found in my entire life," said Seulgi and the young doctor could see the admiration she had for her dear friend, "I often hope I could have a fraction of her courage that would make me feel stronger."

Lee Taehyung turned his face to look at her, his eyebrows raising in a puzzle, "But haven't you've become strong enough?"

Seulgi chuckled, not believing in his words, she raised a questionable look, "I am? No, all this time I have spent my life hiding behind people. It's difficult to admit it but once I stayed here in the silence, I realize that was the case."

"That's not true," came Lee Taehyung's quick reply. "Every people have their strength, Seulgi. As your friend, she might not think that she is strong but you do, and I believe that you are strong but you don't. A person's strength and courage cannot be judge by themselves alone. Sometimes we are our harshest critics."

Seulgi smiled, taking in his wise words, "So you think I am strong?"

"The fact that you are here, I think you are strong," smiled Lee Taehyung, his eyes subtly moved down to seize Seulgi's figure. Like how Seulgi had gotten attached to him, likewise, the man also shared the same feeling.

Since the days they have spent together, Lee Taehyung had gotten closer than he thought he would with Seulgi. From the time he had met her, he had found the girl different, not only because of her blood that has turned into a half-vampire but also her own self that set her in a different place than women he knew.

Lee Taehyung was not ignorant when it comes to understanding a woman's affection toward him, nor the gazes that she always stole when he stood outside where Seulgi could see him from the window of her room which he always caught without her knowing. Rather, it was hard to take no notice of the feeling that stirred inside Seulgi's chest and to whom she directed it when her cheeks would always turn pink when meeting him.

In the past, Lee Taehyung had seen women who could be said to be more beautiful than Seulgi, not that Seulgi's wasn't beautiful, but the women he knew was regarded as the most gorgeous woman to others. Yet those women weren't able to pull his curiosity as Seulgi did.

Emotions were hard to predict and it was correct, thought Lee Taehyung. At first, it was a fleeting curiosity that settled on Lee Taehyung's mind. He wondered why Seulgi's body had changed into a half-vampire, but over time the curiosity changed into something entirely different. Before Lee Taehyung became more aware, he too had stolen sneaky glances at Seulgi.

Lee Taehyung's eyes continued to stare at Seulgi's smile that was full bloom, beaming with sincere happiness. He had never seen anyone smiled in such a lovely way that was both innocent and bring him happiness even though the talk they shared was trivial.

The night had sunk, Lee Taehyung wasn't a fan of the night, but one of these days he didn't want it to end any time soon.

"What are your thoughts on the moon? We have been watching it together for a whole month, it's intriguing to see the difference every time," Lee Taehyung said, his eyes catching the way Seulgi look at him with an unbridled smile, her eyes looked shy but that doesn't stop her from staying near to him where their shoulders were separated by the width of a single palm of a hand.

"It's beautiful tonight," and more so because she watched it with him, thought Seulgi, "I think tomorrow would be a full moon?"

"It's a celebration. The full moon is considered to be a celebration," answered Lee Taehyung, shifting his eyes to the sky where he felt Seulgi's burning gaze on the side of his face. Even though he knew her gaze, he didn't turn her face for the sole reason so she wouldn't turn her eyes away and look at other things, letting her enjoy watching him as he did when watching her, and having Seulgi's attention to him make him feel somewhere proud, honored, and delighted.

"I thought it's considered to be bad luck?" Seulgi questioned, she saw Taehyung stared at the sky, his hair was unruffled as they had opened the window and sat in front of it on the bed.

"To my family, it's always been a celebration," because, with the full moon, there were many rituals they could perform, and all those rituals were like a nightmare to Lee Taehyung as he would always be haunted by nightmares from the sacrifices that need to be made in order to have successful dark magic, "But I am not very keen by the full moon. It's always so full that it almost feels empty."

Seulgi wondered how a full moon could be a celebration but didn't put much thought into it. Swinging her legs, she said, "You don't like to be alone?"
