Chapter 239 - Judgement-II

Seoyeon stared at him in disbelief. She wouldn't fall for another trick of him, she thought. "I don't think it's needed," especially when they were about to go to the court where Jung Hwa would be investigated. Her heart felt unrest, and she was not in place to bother about

"What a pity, at this hour it is usually the time for the ghost to appear," it was Lee Young who had answered from the side. "Although if you had replied with wanting to see we could push the court for a few minutes to see the ghost."

A panic flitted in Seoyeon's mind when she thought she had lost the opportunity to talk more with Jung Hwa and delay more time for him to be judged. As if knowing what she was thinking, Jung Hwa placed his hand on the back of her waist, "He was joking with you."

"What will you do?" she then asked, "I heard about the execution that if you are guilty you could be killed."

"Where did you hear this kind of things?" Jung Hwa asked her with a light rub on her cheeks, "I like it if you are to worry about me, but don't heed to such rumors. Even if I was judged as wrong, there are some tricks in my sleeve I could use to solve this problem."

At that point, they have arrived at the courtroom, the place that Seoyeon knew well because once she had come and judged inside. "Let's go," Jung Hwa said as he went away from her side but his track was stopped when Seoyeon held the hem of his clothes tightly.

He turned his head and waited for her, to see how her brows were furrowed, "Come back safely."

"I will," Jung Hwa took her shoulders to his embrace, happiness bounced on his lips.

Entering the court, Seoyeon noted how full the courtroom was. There were even more people than the time she was about to be judged. Had these people knew beforehand and had been waiting to see what the court would declare?

There was the mother of Chu Sunji sitting on the far left side of the room, she stayed at the position closest to where she could see Jung Hwa and when she did a mouthful of curse came from the woman's mouth, demanding the people to immediately kill Jung Hwa.

Finding how quick the people was to judge Jung Hwa, a frown deeply knit on Seoyeon's forehead. The court had not ruled anything, there was no concerts evidence presented yet that could proof Jung Hwa as the killer, but the people was quick to point finger at him as the killer, and she found thus both baffling and nonsense.

Jung Hwa was brought to a different seat, while Lee Young and Deok JiHyeang went to their perspective seats, with the former taking the seat as the judge. Meanwhile, the person who came to show her the seat was Chung Gon.

"You found it strange how these people in this room already turn their blades to Jung Hwa don't you?" Chung Gon asked as if knowing what she was thinking.

Remembering what had happened between Chung Gon and Jung Hwa, she doubted the man was on Jung Hwa's side. She then wondered who else was on Hwa's side. Other than her and Lee Young, she didn't see anyone else would want to help Jung Hwa.

"Is this normal for vampires' society?" asked Seoyeon to the man. Although she found him dubious, she could feel that the man wasn't as dangerous as Jung Hwa's aunt.

"You mean to suspect people without proper evidence?" The way Chung Gon had put it, her words sounds worse than what she meant but she nodded. The man nodded faintly, "There are many people on this room who hates Jung Hwa, but more than that, there are people who want to enjoy seeing a pureblood sentenced to death. The way the vampire's world worked is world apart different than how it works in the human's world. The vampires believe that cutting the root of the problem as quick and fast is the best, it wouldn't matter if the person is not guilty. And if they find another possibility of the culprit in another person, they would kill that person next, until they found the true culprit. It wouldn't be weird if they immediately sentenced Jung Hwa as the killer and killed him on the spot."

Hearing this, Seoyeon's blood run cold and her heart grew weary. But in her position, she could only watch and pray that the worse would not happen. The way the vampire's court work was too careless, they would rather kill bunch of people rather than finding the true culprit.

"Furthermore, the problem is that woman," Chung Gon's finger pointed to the single woman who was sitting on the witness's side. Her hand was clutched together with one thumb between her teeth. It was Che Hara. "It is because of her witness statement that Hwa is the killer, and this witness's statement is enough to have all the people in this entire room to bet that judges would rule him as the killer."

Seoyeon didn't believe the woman, "But she could lie," there was never the saying that the witness sees it all. It was even more possible for Che Hara to be the killer, and this was more believable to Seoyeon than believing Jung Hwa had killed someone in a very careless manner.

"Oh? Why do you say so?" asked Chung Gon, a smile on his lips as he was purely curious at Seoyeon's brave answer, "I think you know that most vampires even half-vampire would mostly be able to detect heartbeat to discern whether they are lying or not?"

"I know, but a vampire's heartbeat can escape from being detected of lies unlike that of a human's, making it difficult for the judges to determine the legitimacy of the witness's words," and after her reply, Seoyeon caught Chung Gon smiling toward her.

"You are very clever, Miss Han. If not for seeing you flirting with Jung Hwa, I would have courted you," the man sounded sincere with his words, but Seoyeon could see the joking tone he made underneath his words.

"I refuse," Seoyeon replied, and her eyes turned to see Jung Hwa, that Chung Gon noticed, "I have someone else who is occupying my mind."

Chung Gon grinned, knowing what she meant, "That's a shame."
