Chapter 237 - Saving One’s Tail-III

Taken aback, Che Hara was rooted in her seat. She knew she should run but neither the place nor the situation gave her a chance. Ara, her friend had turned to something else, turning the real one to a corpse and the fake one looking at her with a smile as if ready to finish her off.

"W-" the vampiress bites her lips. Never in her life had she been in this situation, where fear made her stutter and her lips turning wobbly. If she had continued to stand, by now her knees would have given out and slumped to the cold floor. "Were you the one who killed Sunji?" she asked. The name, she remembered to be, "Danni?"

"Sunji told you?" the witchess raised her eyebrow, and the slight change had Che Hara's heartbeat to spike, "I know he was not a man with tight lips but to be this loose mouthed. It was you who saw me that time," concluded Numhae. She had created a false name by calling herself Danni in front of Chu Sunji.

Her words confirmed to Che Hara that the woman was the same witch who had killed Chu Sunji and now her friend, Ara. She can't stand the urge to yell and scream. Most vampires wouldn't be affected by other's death, but Che Hara was born spoiled rotten by her family, seeing death was not easy for her to digest.

"W-what are you going to do to me?"

"I am not going to do anything, of course," replied the witchess, "I just want you to help me. If you well you would only turn to a body like your friend here andChu Sunji. I am not tolerant of people who have proven to be useless like the vampire before. I clearly told him to let me inside and open the door, but he chickened out after letting me inside."

But why the Associates? asked Che Hara but she didn't question. Her life was her priority! She didn't want to die!

"I will do great," Che Hara pulled a smile, her eyes shifting to the head of her friend, "Whatever you told me to do I would do it!"

"Good, the name you said earlier, Associate Jung. I want you to kill him," stated the witchess calmly, "He took something for me that I can't ignore and I want his body in front of me, of course, if you could even take the book he took from me, I will leave you safe and sound."

"K-Kill?" She had to kill Jung Hwa?

"I don't mind any means you use as long as it doesn't point a finger to me. Others can kill him too," the witchess didn't take the tea from the cup as it was blood tea of vampires, made from a tea leave that helped to curb vampires' thirst for blood. She had stared at it blankly before looking at Che Hara who was weighing her choice.

"What do you think you would do? Kill or not kill?"

Che Hara saw the witchess pulling something from her pocket, fishing out the vessel that had her to fear, and quickly say, "I will! Of course, I will! After h-he is dead, w-what will you do?"

"Take what he stole from me," Numhae stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

She didn't have much choice. When the first time she entered the Associate, it had been easy with the weak guard but she was not able to open the door because of a certain white witch's potion that was covered all over the door and knob of the rooms in almost the whole building.

The second time, the building was put up with a spell that was not easy for her to enter. She managed to hide inside the trunk where she had placed a spell and potion in using the witchcraft she cast to prevent the spell used to secure the building to injure her, but the vampire chose to stop midway by saying he didn't want to enter the building.

Numhae didn't know what was the trigger for Chu Sunji to suddenly change his mind, but she was too desperate to contain her anger, killing Sunji in the process. Getting out of the Associate was not easy and even cost her a leg.

The woman Ara, the vampiress who was the friend of Che Hara had pretty legs and the witchess took it from the woman to stitch for her own.

"I will give you three days, and contact you on the second day. If by that time you are not able to kill him, I will finish everyone in this house including you," Numhae threatened without knowing her fate prevailed her to live on the second day. "Remember I will be watching you."

After some deliberation, Che Hara searched for ways to kill Jung Hwa. All only to realize, Jung Hwa was a pureblood with a dominant rank and power. She couldn't land a hand on him and if she does that, her neck would be first to be cut.

That was when she came up with a better idea. The way was to put the accusation of Chu Sunji's killer to be Jung Hwa. They both had friction in the past, enough reason for Jung Hwa to kill Chu Sunji. What was needed from her was only a witness statement which she could forge.

As the only witness was her and the evidence was close to nothing, Che Hara believed that this was the only way. No matter what, he would not follow Chu Sunji to bite on the dust, thought Che Hara before breaking her gaze from the cemetery.

Seoyeon, who was finally left alone, pulled out the paper from her pocket which was written by Jung Hwa.

The paper said, 'I will be alright.' Jung Hwa assured Seoyeon before anything and this resonant to her heart.

'I didn't kill anyone. Don't be bothered by the false accusation and relax while watching, darling. If tomorrow came where I am still under the Associate, please do me a favor and go to Che Hara's house, silently if possible. You can bring the white witch with you, he could be useful. If push comes to shove where you are captured, push the white witch as a decoy. But if I am out, we could visit her house together and have tea.'

Somewhere the paper could bring a sonant voice to Seoyeon's ears. It was as if she could hear Jung Hwa saying the words right beside her ears.

It came as a shock for her. Yesterday everything was peaceful when suddenly this happens, Jung Hwa was caught and put under the wrong allegation and she couldn't feel at rest. Seoyeon wondered what makes Che Hara change her mind.

The last time she had met the vampiress, she could see the fondness and love over her eyes. Yet now, she turned her back, saying lies for what? To kill Jung Hwa just because he rejected her? Seoyeon didn't know if Jung Hwa had rejected the girl.

Leaving the washroom, Seoyeon saw that there was no one. Gu Manyeong, the same man who had led her to the washroom. She felt the name was familiar.

Walking past by the hallway, Seoyeon turned to take the right side from the corner to the room where Jung Hwa was when she saw Mrs. Valerie. The woman was as posh as the past days Seoyeon has seen her.

It reminded Seoyeon of their last conversation where Valerie had told her the inaccurate story about Jung Hwa killing his brother and mother. The woman didn't stop there, and despite being his aunt, she had tried to put him under trial for execution.

The view where Jung Hwa had always been a violent and ruthless person was now with a reason to Seoyeon. He had no one to trust in, which why he never showed mercy or kindness on people who had evil intention lurking to him; Else, they would be nothing less than his aunt now who could betray her own nephew.

Now seeing Valerie, it reminded Seoyeon of Gu Manyeong. The memory rouse to her that Gu Manyeong was the man Barbara was interested in.

"You are still here," said Valerie curtly. Hands crossed, her eyes didn't stop gauging her expression and what was on her. Barbara Valerie's daughter looked at Seoyeon with the same look; like mother like daughter.

Seoyeon doubted that Barbara holds a compassionate mind. It would be a miracle if that happened.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Valerie," she answered, not bothering to react to Valerie's sardonic comment. People have manners and even if others do not, she has one. "Did you come to meet Hwa?" she asked.

"Yes, my poor nephew is under trial for something that I believe he doesn't do," Mrs. Velerie shook her head and exhaled breath as if she could not get the idea of how her dearest nephew would be put under trial. "I know he would not do that. To kill a vampire and bury them in the same cemetery where he works is just foolish. Yet there is a witness. They do say that a witness always says the truth."

Mrs. Valerie's words lack trust for Seoyeon. Could it be that the woman was in truth the person who had told Che Hara to faux lies?

"Not necessary, I believe," Seoyeon had no fear when it comes to replying to the woman's words. And now, after hearing Valerie's deed to almost kill Jung Hwa, she can't trust any single word from the woman.

She didn't see Hwa's aunt's expression, and asked directly, "Was that what happened to the time Hwa was captured? Because at that time there was a witness for it?"
