Chapter 235 - Saving One’s Tail-I

Seoyeon replied, "Yes it is." They had been walking for five minutes and that much time was supposed to be enough for anyone to find their washroom, but this one not.

"I forgot to name myself, I am Gu Manyeong," the man named he then let a silence after his words as if waiting for her to identify name.

"I am Han Seoyeon," she replied briefly. Their meeting would be short, thought Seoyeon to herself. There will be small chance they would talk again so she chose to kept information less.

But somewhere the man's name reminded Seoyeon of something. Did she heard the name before? It was not a rare name but not one that used everywhere.

Gu Manyeong stared at the human girl. His smile was etched on his lips while his eyes continuously staring at Seoyeon and her whole figure. "Are you close with Associate Jung?" He then asked.

Seoyeon's eyes narrowed even lower even though she didn't put it on her face. A sense in her heart told her the man was iffy. Was him getting close to her in order to find anything he could hook about Jung Hwa? It was plausible, and this kept Seoyeon in more guard.

"I am his secretary." Simple answer but enough reason, thought Seoyeon.

"Just secretary?" Gu Manyeong questioned and Seoyeon pulled her shoulders up, "I don't mean rude but I am purely curious. I have to confess Miss Seoyeon," the man stopped his feet and though Seoyeon thought to walk faster she had to stop and followed the vampire's example, "This is not my first time meeting you, we have met before. I saw you first on the court judged for whether you are a witch or not."

"I see," she replied and Gu Manyeong nodded. She didn't know what the vampire had nor over.

"I found at that time of how attractive you were," the man smiled at Seoyeon's surprised expression. "If possible would you like to talk more at some times?"

Did Gu Manyeong meant he liked her?

"I'm sorry but I am planning to stay single," Seoyeon turned her eyes to see the rooms at the hallways, wanting to find the washroom and escape from the situation. Frankly, she didn't know what to react on this. It was sudden.

"We can talk a little," Gu Manyeong continued with his words, "I'm sorry if I came off as too forward, but I just thought that chances like this will never happen. Chances for me to meet or talk to you again. I would like to use the chance to get know you."

Being forward to then apologize, put Seoyeon in a difficult situation where she had to be rude to turn down Gu Manyeong's offer.

"They say chances will come if it's fate," Seoyeon replied. To be honest, she wanted to ask him the way to the washroom to go alone. But it was hard to bring the question. "I'm sorry to cut in but I am a little in a hurry."

"Oh, yes. Apologies for stopping you," finally the vampire took a step, continuing with the walk and this time Seoyeon made it obvious that she was in a hurry.

Reaching the washroom, Seoyeon was about to turn the knob when Gu Manyeong said, "I hope chances will arise again. I don't know what to say whether I am happy or sad to see you when I came for my brother's funeral."

The words struck Seoyeon, "My condolence," she replied and Gu Manyeong eyed her as if waiting for more reaction but Seoyeon didn't know his brother. Her heart felt pity but Seoyeon can't say she was feeling gloom or sadness for someone she doesn't know.

He then smiled and bowed his neck to leave. Having a tall figure and a face that was handsome to human's eyes, Seoyeon thought the man could find someone else. Seoyeon could say she was not much attractive compared to other vampiress in the Associates as she had seen them to be gorgeous. It was doubtful that the man truly liked her when his first words was to ask Jung Hwa.

Without thinking much, Seoyeon opened the washroom door, to meet the vampiress, who looked at her surprised. Her eyes widened. It was Che Hara, the same person who had put a witness on Jung Hwa.

The vampiress showed a prideful look over her. As Che Hara was born in a family who doted on her, she believes that the world revolve around her. She didn't hide the disgust on her eyes to see Seoyeon entering the same washroom she was in.

Seoyeon saw that after Che Hara had concluded her look from top to bottom, the woman then turned her eyes away. Seoyeon didn't care. She had lived without caring other's view on her.

When she was about to walk over to one stall inside the room, Che Hara spoke, "I advise you Miss Secretary. It is time for you to leave Jung Hwa's side."

Seoyeon didn't want to stop, planning to ignore the woman. Yet, her shoes stopped padding way, going against her mind. "Can I ask why?" Seoyeon asked.

This woman in front of her claimed to be a witness. What did she exactly see?

Che Hara looked at Seoyeon from the mirror, "Don't you see yet the floor beneath him is threading to break? Before you drown in regret it is better to swim when there is still hope. Swim away from Jung Hwa."

"Before I drown?" Seoyeon questioned, her expression appearing clueless that had Che Hara to scoff.

"I see that you don't know yet," the vampiress turned her body to, her back leaning to the sink to look at Seoyeon. "That Hwa killed Chu Sunji. He would be going through court today with the chances of him to win the court as slightly. If you still could turn your back, better do that. Later others would highlight you as an accomplice."

"Thank you for your advise but that would not be needed. I don't often turn my back on others. It's low and I am not low," replied Seoyeon, her eyes looked back at Che Hara without a glint of fear.

For the past few days, she had not meet rude people which why her words were gentle. But since young, Seoyeon had always been a blunt person with a rather short temper, although at times she could compose herself, she didn't tolerate well things like these.

"There is no proof yet," replied Seoyeon to Che Hara, whose face looked as if reaching herself to catch and strangle her neck

"But there is witness who sees it all," Che Hara taught her as if she was a stupid person who can't see when to pull themselves before danger, it irked the vampiress to see the human girls acting high and mighty.

Seoyeon didn't like the way the woman and her words. Seoyeon talked with Deok Ji Hyeang and she knew the woman was the witness. But her words were a hundred percent lies. At first Seoyeon threaded between Jung Hwa had killed the man or not. He might be violent, but not stupid to bury a body where anyone could see and point him as a killer.

She was not stupid to know that the vampiress had done this for a reason which why she talked to her. But when hearing the woman had been saying nothing but to tell her to flee as if Jung Hwa was the killer didn't sit well with her.

"Unless you are blind or stupid, it's better to leave his side," although Che Hara had sold off Jung Hwa's name, she can't have the man she liked to settle with a human. Her pride as a vampiress didn't like that Jung Hwa chose a human than her.

"I am thankful if you worry for me Miss Che, but I don't need an advise. I am not blind or stupid, and I am also not a person with an ugly heart," saying the words she owned the vampiress, Seoyeon saw Che Hara's eyes turned to a furious glare. "I am well versed in the people I know. Hwa would not kill anyone much less burying a body behind the building, excuse me."

Che Hara for a moment was at lost words on Seoyeon's fearless behavior. She didn't stay any longer under the same room as Seoyeon and stormed outside. Anger laced on her face.

The human! How dare she talked back on her? If going by human's age, Che Hara was much older than Seoyeon. The place where they were, the Associates are place for vampires not humans and she can't accept a mere human trying to show her place!

Che Hara was spoiled since little. Everyone followed her words whether vampires or humans. There is to an extent where she can't be selfish in front of a pureblood but her parents was influential that purebloods also treated her with respect.

Except for Jung Hwa who remained indifferent at her. But that was his charm after his wealth and looks. To know that Jung Hwa chose Seoyeon than her, she can't see the reason. Compared to her, she was much more beautiful! And she thought she had a change but what had gone wrong?!

If only the witches test at the court proved Seoyeon to be a witch, Che Hara would hold evidence to her hypothesis that Seoyeon had put a spell on Jung Hwa. She can't wrap her mind to why Seoyeon would be better than her.

The vampiress was shimmering with anger but it stopped when at the corner of her eyes, Che Hara saw the same cemetery where Chu Sunji's body was buried and she felt her blood ran cold.

She recalled the evening before, the reason for her to put a false accusation on Jung Hwa. The single trunk that became her reason....
