Chapter 211 - Sinking Fangs-I

Seoyeon knew he could tell whatever lie she said if she gave one, recalling when she was called by the associates where he could vouch for her lies or not, lying was not an option for her.

Jung Hwa did not have to ask to know what Seoyeon was asking for. Now by questioning her it reminded him of the time before they left to the cemetery when she had asked of his liability. After the question she posed, it makes clear to him that there was someone who had put seeds of doubt on Seoyeon.

"What did you heard from my aunt?" Jung Hwa questioned directly.

Seoyeon's heart didn't beat in surprise because somewhere she could tell Jung Hwa knew with his own power. "That... you killed your mother and brother," she whispered, her voice was not loud but small because she felt inquisitive.

"What do you think?" He asked.

"I believe you didn't do it and if you do... I trust that you have a reason." It was hard to think anger and hatred were what drive Jung Hwa to kill his mother and brother and the thought was what Seoyeon had faith in.

"Hm," Jung Hwa hummed, not continuing as he was saying for her question. "Ask me then."

Jung Hwa was waiting for the question to come from her own mouth and Seoyeon felt the air she took turning heavy Taking a deep breath, she asked him with her voice coming to be louder than before, "Did you killed your mother and brother?"

"I did," Jung Hwa twisted his lips, knowing that Seoyeon was watching his expression from the small mirror. His hand then loosened at her waist. "Do you want to run away now, Seoyeon? There's a killer in this room," he whispered to her ears, the words he stated after his question sounded somewhere painful to her.

Even though the room was closed and the windows were shut tight, she could feel the room turning cold. She shook his head. She was a dark witchess but Jung Hwa didn't kill her. To understand him, she would not run they instead make a misunderstanding.

"No, I want to know and if you want to tell me, I will be here," said Seoyeon. She didn't she could accept Jung Hwa if he had no reason and had plainly killed his family for his dislike. But she would try.

"My mother as I told you was poisoned. It was on one bright afternoon that time she took a walk after lunch when she suddenly berserk to anger. Her eyes were bloody red, and somewhere it was not the eyes of a sane vampire. She killed most servants who tied to help her and by the time I saw her, she looked nothing less than a beast. She wasn't even worse than a vampire and became like a monster."

"Was she turning to a hollowed vampire?" asked Seoyeon for Jung Hwa to shake his head and she could feel his nose brushing the skin of her shoulder,

"It was something different. Vampires called it howls of death. It is a unique state in which only affects vampires who were about to die. To put it simply their scream of not wanting to die. Everyone who stood near her was killed and I had no choice but to put her to rest," silence impend after his words, she could still see his lips twisting. Was he keeping the smile so she would not be saddened? She thought that way because before he had made up a lie to keep her from being saddened.

"My brother had another reason. He was looking frail, nothing like how he looked before where there was only skin and bone on him. The sickness was going worse and he looked nothing like a corpse and I killed him," Jung Hwa raised his hand as if to show it toward Seoyeon and with a still smile, he whispered, "With this hand, I stabbed my hand and made a hole in his chest. If you think of it, considering everything, yes I killed him. I killed my family and now are you scared?"

Seoyeon didn't reply and Jung Hwa thought he should wait for her reply when he felt a warm drop of water fell on his arm that rested on her waist. In one swift movement, he turned her body, taking her legs to one sigh and his hand holding her chin to look at him.

Tears were covering her large black eyes, a look of sorrow covered her face as she had imagined the pain Jung Hwa had gone through. The tears didn't stop and a sob broke from her lips. Seoyeon covered her face, wiping her tears, "I will..." she sobbed and he gushed her.

"Don't cry," he cooed, smoothening his hand on the back of her head, "What happened in the past maybe was about three or twenty decades ago, I can't even remember the exact date."

"But you still remember," the guilt and how he had killed his own family, thought Seoyeon. It had not been easy for him, to kill his own family as there was no other option left to him. "Is it still hard to this day? Remembering everything," drawled Seoyeon whose voice faded as she speaks.

"They appeared at times to my dream. They will come bloodied with blood all over their bodies, angry and questioning why I am still alive but that's a dream," Jung Hwa spoke as if he was telling other's experiences. There was no emotion contained in his words she could find which at one point had her question if he was truly feeling not sad or otherwise. There was often a say that if one was too deep to sorrow, they can't feel or show the pain any longer. "Now tell me, darlin' who was it that fed you with words that I killed my own mother and brother?"

"Your aunt," Seoyeon answered him as she sees no reason to lie and she feels his thumb rubbing her eyes, going down across her eyes to wipe away the tears that were covering her eyes. "Mrs. Valerie." She paused while looking at him, their eyes meeting at each other, and to this minute she still couldn't stop to feel sorry and tears for him.

Jung Hwa seemed unaffected but as a person who had only heard him, she felt saddened. "How did she know that you killed your mother and brother?"

"She doesn't know," replied Jung Hwa and Seoyeon looked at him curiously that now her eyes were free from tears. "In my mother's case, she had a feeling and in my brother's case, she made an accusation. It is easy to blame and she had done it not because she loves my mother and brother but out of spite. You have seen how we talked earlier this day. That was our usual exchange."

Seoyeon didn't know what to say. Thankfully Jung Hwa still has his grandfather. With his brother, father, and mother gone, it would be unthinkable how worse his life would be if he was alone with his aunt who didn't like him.

"My aunt had called the Associates on me after my mother's death," Seoyeon looked startled at this. She could tell that the Associate didn't only act as the third party between humans and vampires but also between vampires' affairs. There was the authority the Associate hold where they could execute people just like the way they had called her to the court.

"Why would she call you there? You were the victim, not the killer," Seoyeon said, feeling injustice on his behalf who had just suffered from an immense loss which he was forced to take on his own.

Jung Hwa chuckled with a cynical look on his eyes which she could see better now as their expression was against each other. "Would she ever listen? Valerie is a woman whose ears are stuffed with rotten cotton. She called them to accuse me that I have killed the people in the house along with my mother. At that time, my brother was not there and most servants died under my mother's attack which left me to be the lone suspect. I was soon cleared from suspicions and allegations but I have no intention to be on the same page and get chummy with her."

"I would not either if I was you," Seoyeon responded in a whisper. "Did she called the associates you on again your brother's death?"

Jung Hwa shook his head, his lips twisting to a wicked smile, "I called the associates on her before she could on me."

Seoyeon looked curious and the rim of her eyes which reddened after dribbling tears had soothed by this time. "What did she do?"

"I put a body on her house, calling the associates after," receiving Seoyeon's eyes, he chuckled to say, "No worry, the body that I placed on her house was someone who was close to her and someone who had bothered me for a long time. She nearly got executed until someone foolishly claimed to be the killer."

"Did the person came because of Mrs. Valerie?" The timing was too convenient, thought Seoyeon.

"Yes. That sly woman threatens the man's family in exchange for him to take her blame," Jung Hwa noticed the grim expression on Seoyeon's face which disagrees with what Valerie had done, "It's not that rare in vampires' society. Everyone inside my world is dyed in the same cold and ruthlessness. Other's life is not important to their eyes than their own and if it was not to their own benefits they wouldn't lift a finger.. This is how vampires live."
