Chapter 20 - Vassal & Electricity

When I woke up, I was sleeping peacefully in my bed. After I passed out, Mimsy must have brought me here to rest. Walking into the kitchen I run into Mimsy, and she was about as frantic as I expected.

"Harry Potter sir should be resting!" Mimsy said, practically dragging me into the living room, and pushing me onto the couch. "Stay here, Mimsy will bring breakfast" she ordered, running into the kitchen as faster as her little body could take her.

"I never knew Mimsy could be so bossy." I said, getting comfortable on the couch. As I sit on the couch, I look at my hand and try willing lightning to appear. Green lightning dances between my fingers, but I mess up and a stray piece of lightning strikes out hitting my television. Mimsy comes running in with a worried look on her face.

"You alright Master Harry?" She said, worriedly looking around until she spotted the television and the lightning in my hand. "Master should be resting! No magic and no training!" She said, vanishing the TV and leaving for the kitchen again. I may have worried Mimsy more than I thought, so I'll just rest today.

While relaxing on my day off, I decided to recruit Damon. I waited long enough and now it's time to see if he's willing to serve me as his Lord or move on once his training is done. I had Dobby get Damon because Mimsy wouldn't leave my side. She's been watching me like a hawk ever since the TV incident. Damon entered the room with dobby leading the way and took a seat in front of me.

"You've been training here for a year now, so tell me how do you like it?" I asked.

"I like it a lot, the elves are nice and I'm getting stronger than I ever thought I could." He said, looking happy about his progress.

"Good, I was wondering what you plan on doing once you leave here?" I asked.

"Umm, I have some personal things to take care of, but after that, I don't know yet." He said, not telling me about his revenge.

"Since you have nothing to do after your personal business, why don't you join my house as a vassal?" I asked, hopefully piquing his interest.

"What's a vassal?" He asked.

"A vassal is a subordinate or servant of a Lord. While you're a vassal, no wizards or witches would be allowed to touch you. You would be a man of house Potter and Black, and anyone who disrespects you would be disrespecting me." I explained.

"Would I have to serve you food, and stuff like the elves?" He asked.

"No, I was thinking more along the lines of the leader of my guards. I have many enemies in the wizarding world and having someone I trust to lead the people who would protect me would be reassuring. You would be the only one for the moment, but I'm hoping to grow the guards over time." I said, seeing some interest in his eyes.

"I'm willing to be your vassal, but only if I can still take care of my personal issue." He stated.

"Yeah, that's perfectly fine." I agreed, taking out a piece of parchment sliding it across the table. "That is a Vassalage Contract. Please read it and sign if you agree to the terms." I said, leaving out that it's also a magic contract, and will be enforced through magic. After reading the contract, Damon signed at the bottom, and hand handed it back to me. "Welcome to the family Damon"

"So what now? Should I follow you around to guard you?" He asked.

"No, you're far weaker than me at the moment, so you should keep training." I said.

"As you wish, my Lord" he said, awkwardly but at least he's trying.

After my day off, I could finally start training my lightning. The first thing I did was test the amount of lightning I can create, and I can control about ten lightning bolts. Then I tried to see if I could mold the lightning into different things. I tried anything I could think of from random shapes, animals, weapons, etc. it was harder to mold it for the more intricate things, so I would probably have to train that.

Since I technically have electricity as my element, I wonder if I can study it to make electronic technology work at Hogwarts. Magic doesn't mix well with electric tech, and any place saturated in magic like Hogwarts will interfere with it rendering it useless. That's why I stay in the apartment and not Black mansion or Pride manor. Those places are saturated in magic and would destroy any TV, Microwave, toaster, etc. I just have to make sure to not use magic on any of the electric tech in the apartment.

I need to test and see if my lightning can power muggle electronics or not, so I had my elves get me a voltmeter. A voltmeter is an instrument used for measuring electrical output. I trained my output to stay at 230 volts at 50 Hz because that's the standard for power outlets in the UK. After I got the specifics down, I took the plug to my toaster, and input my electricity at exactly 230 volts at 50 Hz. I push down the toaster with my other hand and it works perfectly, so now I know magic electricity works for muggle technology. Just in case I use my magic to levitate the toaster and it still works.

Now all I have to do is suck the electricity from the tech then recharge them with my lightning. I wonder if I can absorb electricity, yet another thing to look into. The problem is the things that aren't chargeable and the things that need battery's(AA, AAA, etc). Because of the things that aren't chargeable and need an outlet to function, I would have to supply a constant stream of power. When I want to relax and watch tv that would be annoying, so I need to come up with a way to supply them energy without me as the source. For the tech that needs specific batteries, I would have to find a way to replace the energy in the batteries without a plug.

Maybe later down the line, I could make a battery that recharges itself, so I have infinite energy. I could make so much money if I sold that tech in the muggle world. The number one thing that holds back the development of new technology Is energy. When you can't power what you want to make, you can't make it. If I introduce a source of unlimited electricity development would take place at lightning speed. Free transportation, free electricity, automation in industrial robots will perform all the work without any fuel. The cost of space travel will plummet, opening the door to start colonizing other planets.
