The spots of green light were like fireflies in the night. These green lights descended from the top of the wall, and touched both the players and the old and weak villagers nearby. Instantly, the dizziness which had come as a result of the gnoll leader’s howl was instantly eliminated.

Meng Yang let out a long sigh and stood up again. He looked at Hera, the middle-aged woman which he had not paid attention to ever since he stepped foot inside the camp, and momentarily felt a sense of wonder.

She had already displayed her healing abilities when she was treating Gustav previously, and she had just saved Liu Chuanfeng as well. Moreover, she had used the orbs of green light to eliminate the negative effects of the gnoll leader’s howl. This made him recall what Hera had previously mentioned about the Power of Nature.

“Once this crisis blows over, I must ask her just what kind of extraordinary system this is.”

Meng Yang had made up his mind. He felt that this attack from the gnolls seemed to have unveiled another strange layer of the Other World.

Suppressing the curiosity within him, Meng Yang once again turned his gaze to the draw bridge at the base of the wall. At that moment, the huge battle had already begun. Phoenix, the female archer whom Meng Yang had always thought was only capable of long-distance attacks, was now displaying shocking melee combat ability.

When she brandished her blow, all that could be seen was an afterimage. As her figure moved and shifted about, not even the gnoll leader was able to gain the upper hand over her.

‘Aren’t your attacks long-distance?’

Meng Yang thought to himself. Phoenix had only shown her archery skills ever since she first appeared. He did not think that she would have powerful melee combat abilities as well.

Meng Yang then rubbed the back of his head. This was the Other World, where players treated this as a game, so there was no way he could treat this the same as reality. Moreover, who said that long-range attackers did not have melee abilities?

On the battlefield, Phoenix and the gnoll leader’s movements were blinding. The wind whistled, blowing up a cloud of sawdust from the draw bridge. This sawdust was the remnants left behind by the gnoll leader’s ax attacks. The gnoll leader had tried multiple times to break through Phoenix’s blockade and rush straight into the camp. However, it kept being hindered by Phoenix’s keen attacks such that it remained trapped in battle.

Even so, after the gnoll leader’s long howl and furious roar, a large number of gnolls and jackals that were wandering about started to direct their attacks toward the inside of the camp.

Meng Yang’s heart tightened; there were many old folks and women on the wall. At that moment, they were already beginning to throw rocks from the top of the wall. The battle had reached its crescendo.

At that moment, a chorus of shouts was heard.

The players, whose howl-induced dizziness had been eradicated by the green light, as well as the resurrected players who had just walked out of the summoning circle, all had bloodshot eyes, their expressions twisted. One by one, these seemingly crazed players started lunging toward the gnolls and jackals before them.

“Kill them all!”

“I want revenge!”

“F*ck you!”

“For the Horde!”

“Get lost, Horde pigs. For the Alliance!” 1

“Glory to Shurima!” 1

“Your father has come!” 1

There was a continuous string of swear words and obscene phrases that filled the air. Shouts rang out one after the other as if they all vented their thoughts in unison.

Even though many players did not have weapons, they resorted to using their hands and feet. Several people even started biting and tearing into their opponents.

Faced with the attack of these crazed players, the gathered gnolls and jackals’ assault was temporarily halted. Many of the gnolls could not understand why the humans disappeared after they were killed, and why this was followed by even more people running out of the camp.

Not to mention, they were attacking with such madness too, seemingly completely unafraid of death. No matter how brutal the gnolls were as they killed, or how much they roared, they were still unable to stop these players from attacking like a swarm of ants.

“Get in formation! Formation! This is too messy!”

Meng Yang, who was standing on top of the wall, watched as the players attacked barbarians and felt his head ache once more. Even though each of them was charging forward fiercely, it was a chaotic battle, and there was no strategy at all. On one side, there would usually be five or six people holding down a jackal as they beat it furiously. And on the other side, there would be players who were just waiting to be killed by weapon-wielding gnolls, as if they were planning on using their lives to tire out their opponents.

In the beginning, he had let Phoenix split up the players into five groups in hopes that there would be the slightest bit of cooperation. However, at this moment, it had descended into total bedlam, such that even the players were indistinguishable from one another.

“Where did those senior players go?”

Meng Yang swept his gaze across the crowd of players below, trying to identify Xu Zhe, Sun Shuai, and the rest. From the battle with the pig-headed monster and the attack just now, he could tell that the old player named Xu Zhe was capable of organizing the attack.

However, after surveying the whole crowd, he realized that some people had only just run out of the resurrection point.

The ones leading the group who were running a bit faster were Xu Zhe and Sun Shuai, the ones he was looking for. These two were leading a few newly-resurrected players into battle. However, the moment they reached the camp’s entrance, they seemed to have no intention of getting into formation at all. Conversely, they had started attacking in a frenzy, charging forward without any regard for their lives.

The moment Zhuang Dafa, whose movements were slightly slower, entered the battlefield, he opened his arms and rushed towards a gnoll that was hacking away violently. Then, as if it were nothing but a meat cushion, he hugged the gnoll and shouted at a few players who were wielding weapons, “Kill this with me, hurry!”

“Coming!”

A player wielding a spear called out excitedly. As he gripped the spear’s handle with both hands, he shouted, “Watch my spear as it shoots out like a dragon!”

“F*ck, do you have a death wish? Don’t rush at my *ss!” Zhuang Dafa had tightened his grip around the gnoll as much as he could. Suddenly, he saw that spear-wielding player rushing toward him out of the corner of his eye, and let go quickly, leaping away like a frightened, fat rabbit.

The player’s long spear pierced through the gnoll’s lower body. However, in a mix of rage and excruciating pain, the gnoll violently bit into the player’s head, spilling blood everywhere.

“Charge!”

Zhuang Dafa barely evaded the “one-hit-kill”, and rushed back in immediately, aiming a kick at the gnoll’s already-injured body part.

The gnoll let out a wail of agony once more, wobbling on its feet. Then, seven or eight sets of feet appeared and started trampling the gnoll’s body.

After one wave of players died, another wave would resurrect. Then another wave would die, and another wave would resurrect again, the cycle repeating over and over.

The fiercest players had already died seven or eight times in that short amount of time, whilst even the more timid players had already died twice or thrice. Some of the female players who were trembling at the start had also gradually started to let go of their apprehensions. Even though they were unable to cause too much damage to the gnolls due to their lack of strength, their fighting spirit had already been awakened. Even though some of them were screeching and crying, they would still charge forward into the thick of battle. Their wildness sent a chill up many of the male players’ spines.

At that moment, the old, weak women and children were standing on both sides of the summoning circle, either trying their best to provide the empty-handed players with weapons like bats or praising the adventurers excitedly.

Meng Yang, who was standing on the wall, had returned his attention to the movements to the gnolls. As things stood, the draw bridge entrance was much closer to the summoning circle. With the players’ fearless attitudes, it was enough to allow them to continuously exhaust these gnolls. Meng Yang had already seen some of the injured gnolls at the back start to retreat as they tried to escape.

On the battlefield in front of the wall, the players started to realize one by one that the gnolls that were oh so terrifying and brutal were gradually starting to decrease in number. Other than the few who were fleeing with their injuries, dragging their crippled bodies behind them, most of the gnolls had been killed off by wave after wave of players.

On the frenzied battlefield, the players were becoming more and more imposing. Every time a gnoll was defeated, the players would start yelling excitedly, as if they were celebrating Chinese New Year.

The trajectory of the battle was slowly growing more and more obvious. At this point, only the fight between Phoenix and the gnoll leader that was happening in the open space outside the draw bridge made Meng Yang tremble in fear,
