Even before I fell asleep, he was whining about starting a war.

In the end, he seems to have chosen to disturb my sleep in this way.

“It’s no use crying over at it. I’m not going to start a war!”

I thought the rebuttal would come right away, but Harry was unresponsive to my stern declaration.

He just looked at myself with no expression in his face.

Somehow his eyes were lifeless.

“Harry?”

Curious of his unusual appearance, I called for Harry, and instead of answering, he reached out and grabbed my shoulder tightly.

He held so strongly that my face was twisted from pain.

‘Are you upset because I fell asleep, ignoring your whining?’

It was annoying but it was also my job to appease the old man.

‘It’s not because someone ordered me to do it, but because I summoned him by myself, so what can I do?’

“All right, I’ll listen to you, but first let’s put this down…”

But even before my words were finished, Harry lowered his head and bit on the nape of my neck.

What is this?

He even sticked out his tongue around my skin.

‘Why are you biting and sucking my neck when it’s not even a candy?’

It was an act that would never come out of Harry’s mind, considering his usual behaviour.

For some reason, I don’t know but I think he’s out of his mind.

“Hey, old man? Grandpa Harry? Hey, Harry!”

I’ve called Harry several times to confirm, but he hasn’t responded either.

‘It’s not a situation you can talk out of your way. I guess I have no choice but to use my strength.’

“I definitely called. But Harry didn’t answer.”

So no grudges.

I took a deep breath, gathered my strength, and struck Harry in the back of his head with all my might.

An accurate blow.

It was a critical hit.

“Ow!”

Harry let me go with a low groan.

Little by little, Harry’s eyes began to lighten up.

“Uh…what’s wrong with me? I felt a tingling sensation in the back of my head.”

Harry’s eyes open with a confused face, rubbing the back of his head where he was hit.

“You hit me?”

“Yes, I did.”

“What? Why hit a demon that didn’t do anything!”

“You don’t know what you did. Don’t you remember? You just bit me on the nape of my neck.”

“Me? Your neck? No way.”

Harry waved his hand as if it were nonsense.

‘Is this a way of pretending you don’t know?”

I squinted at Harry’s face.

But his eyes were innocent, as if he knew nothing.

As far as I’ve watched, Harry’s lies were clumsy.

It was clear that he was not used to lying because he had no problem in living by saying all he wanted to say.

‘So he really don’t remember.’

“Look at this.”

I showed Harry the neck he biten instead of a long explanation.

It was dark around, but the eyes of the demon would be enough to check my condition in the dark.

“……why are my teeth marks there?”

“That’s what I want to ask. Why are you suddenly biting at the nape of a person’s neck?”

“That’s it…”

Harry, who was looking at me as if he were a sinner, drooped his straight shoulders.

He didn’t need to take such a low position at all.

“I told you so! It’s the limit, I don’t know what accident will happen!”

“I didn’t know that you will chew me in an accident. If you had told me earlier, I would have seriously considered it.”

“I was going to tell you! But you fell asleep without listening.”

“So now you’re saying you did a good job. Is this it?”

“That’s!”

“What about it?”

“Of couse not…”

Harry, who was not backing down, shrugged off his shoulders. He looked depressed.

“I’m not always self controlled but I’m not such a demon! But it’s the first time I’ve never seen so much blood.”

“So, Harry could eat me by mistake if he didn’t see blood?”

A life that ends up being eaten up by a craving, cannibal demon.

I never wanted to die a grand death, but I didn’t want to end up like this.

But I can’t tell you to kill people, can I?

‘Is there any good way?’

It was time to worry.

“Harry, you’re such an annoying match.”

“But it’s the best dryer.”

“Yes, but it’s a lot of work. It costs a lot to maintain!”

I took a long breath holding my head.

* * *

I read books about demons from the library in the mansion, but the answer did not come out easily.

The cases that were introduced of summoning demons were so different from mine that there was no reference at all.

All those who summoned the demons were driven by a strong force for revenge or to rule the world.

This made the basic needs of the demons and the interests of their goals well matched, so there’s no need to struggle.

‘Why is everyone calling the demon for such a grandiose reasons?’

I closed the book with a grumble of discontent. I expected something because the title was <very simple demon summoning>, but it was also not the one this time.

[It’s normal to call the demon for grand reasons. It’s weird calling the demon to light the fireplace. ]

[Harry, is that all you have to say to me, who is working hard for you?]

[Hey, what for me? You don’t want to be eaten. You don’t like being eaten by me?]

‘No, who would like to be eaten?’

My mouth fell open on the absurd remark.

[Of course I don’t like it, who would like to be eaten?]

[Some people like it!]

[Don’t lie to me, I was a little shocked when you bit me on the neck. Who likes that?]

I thought it was natural, but my words made Harry’s face subtle.

He clicked his tongue as if seeing a very pathetic person.

[What are you thinking? That’s not what being eaten.]

Isn’t that the dictionary meaning of eating?

What other meaning is there?

[Then what is it? Do you have anything else to eat? Oh, you suck blood, not flesh? Is blood what Harry wants?]

The sudden realization made my mind clear in a moment.

[I thought it was human flesh because you eat bread and meat. Do you want my blood now? I think I can give you that much.]

As Harry closed his eyes, I pressed about that on Harry.

[…it’s really crumbs.]

He had a lot to say, but he was trying to keep it together.

[Yes, what am I supposed to say about an unripe crumbs?]

[Who said to bite an unripe nape? What’s so delicious about the nape of my neck? I’ll wake you up and ask for a ripe cake!]

[It’s because I don’t have any reason! It’s a kind of withdrawal!]

Harry shouted in a fit of rage, but his voice was drowned by the loud roar of the knights at the same time.

‘Is it the Frost Knights? Is Lionel there too?’

It was quite fun to watch Lionel train.

‘It’s worth seeing you being scolded while being cooped here.’

I glanced out the window and saw a group of knights running in line.

But they were not the frost knights, they were the royal knights. The uniform told me right away.

The knights from the royal islands trained lightly in the morning, and when the sun rose in the middle of the day, they left for the black forest with the frost knights.

It was the fact that I learned indirectly through the loud training coming from outside and the chatter of women praising the wonderful knights.

My radius of activity has become narrowed thanks to the knights roaming the mansion like it’s their own house.

Liddon and El was not among those who were training in the mansion, but my experience in the last hot spring could have led to unexpected moments of meeting them.

‘So it’s the best to reduce contact as much as possible. I don’t want to be bothered by encountering them.’

It’s been a week already.

I like to be stuck in my room and spend my time relaxing, but it felt completely different on staying in my room because I wanted to.

In my frustration, when I asked Emma when the subjugation was over, she answered that it would take at least a month.

It meant I had to stay in this room for another three weeks.

-It takes that long?

-Yes. I think… It takes a lot of time because they have to subdue the Wyverns on the time it gets weaken.

-Time for Wyverns to weaken?

-The Wyverns are weak in sunlight. By noon, when the sun is at its strongest, their movement becomes slower, making it easier to subdue the Wyverns. If we want to reduce their number, we have no choice but to subdue them.

If there was no other way, they might attack ignorantly. However, given that they know the time of the weakness of the Wyvern, they didn’t have to take that risk.

Thanks to this, the progress of the subjugation was slow.

‘Should I spill a rumour that Wyverns is good for stamina?’

If such rumours spread, there would be a plenty of people who would risk their lives to save the eggs and eat Wyvern meat.

Is it just meat and eggs?

‘Drinking bones, and sucking blood from the rind of the nape.’

Then Mr. Wyverns will soon dry up. Later, instead of subjugating them, they might designate them as protected animals and call them endangered species,

‘Oh, but are there any protected animals here?’

A useless thought followed by an another, but suddenly it snapped. It was because of an idea that crossed my mind.

[Harry.]

[Why?]

[Harry said his needs were filled by the sight of blood, right?]

[It’s not just blood. It’s no use showing me your blood. I enjoy fighting, killing, and seeing blood. The process is important. ]

[So you don’t have to see human blood, do you? If you could fight, kill, and see blood, it wouldn’t matter what kind of blood it was?]

[Well, if it’s killing a pleasant opponent, yes. It doesn’t matter if it’s not human. But that’s not often the case. Killing bugs and seeing their blood, it’s not fun at all. ]

Harry shrugged and grunted, but I was confident.

An opponent who is much stronger than a human being and can be suppressed only by combining forces. Still, they has to wait the opponent for it’s weakness.

I grinned and put my hand on Harry’s shoulder.

[Harry, we’ll play a cool war.]

* * *

A knight that followed El, who led the group to the front, whispered in a serious voice.

“Sir, something’s wrong.”

El nodded softly to affirm the knight’s words.

He was also feeling something strange.

“The Wyverns are shrinking. The population has dropped significantly.”

On the first day, they was busy dealing with the surging Wyverns.

From some point, the number of Wyverns rushing in was noticeably reduced.

The Wyverns, who are rushing, ran away without a hitch when the knights wielded their swords a few times.

Thanks to that, the knights were able to easily remove the Wyverns’ eggs.

The pace of subjugation seemed to be fairly rapid and could be completed sooner than expected.

Obviously it was a positive situation, but the knights were not happy.

The flow of the ecosystem does not change easily. If the flow changes, it’s because a massive incident occurred.

Such extraordinary events have a huge impact on the lives of humans as well as plants and animals.

They will be glad if it’s a positive effect, but most of the time it was the opposite.

When the ecosystem falters, the lives of humans become unstable .The same was true of the ecosystem of the black forests here.

The fact that the Wyverns’ behavior changed overnight was an evidence of something terrible had happened.

“Sir!”

Everyone was walking in the woods with nervous faces.

A knight ran with a speculative face. It was from the scout team that was sent to locate the location of eggs that were stored back.

“I, I found this near the empty back.”

He held out a chunk with a size of a child’s head.

The shape was not intact, but they could tell it was part of Wyvern’s body.

The knights pressed their lips together in front of the part of Wyvern’s body that was completely parted.

They all had similar thoughts, but they couldn’t get the words out of their mouths.

Wyvern, who they can only overcome by joining forces.

The mystery predator who has shattered the Wyvern like this.

The thought alone was terrible.

“If this predator comes down to the mortals, to the land of Errel…”

They didn’t want to imagine it.

If they have to deal with this predator who has reduced the Wyvern like this, they had to have a will to fight with their life.

Everyone’s faces were white.

But the captain of the knights, El Roytz, looked at the chunk in the knight’s hands with a grave expression.

‘Traces of fire.’

Then it was not an animal that have no reason.

Only rational beings can handle fire.

‘He’s either human, or if it’s not, it’s a rational being.’

Then we could have a conversation.

Is it a threat or a help?

He can’t be sure of that, too.

‘If you’re a threat…’

There was only one conclusion. El’s hand reaced out for his sword.

***

Every night, I sneaked out of the mansion and headed for the black wood forest. It was for the war that Harry wanted so much.

Of course the subject of the war was not human.

The beasts living in the Black Forest, the Wyvern, was an offering to appease Harry’s desire to kill.

The Wyverns are stronger than humans.

The fun of fighting was enough to relieve Harry’s desire.

The population was so large that he could fight until he was sick of it.

‘And if the Wyverns are reduced, the subjugation knights staying in the mansion will go back soon.’

I can handle Harry’s desires and send out the troublesome fishes of Catherine’s.

Hitting two birds with one stone were found.
