137 Thoughts Of A Jumbled Mind

** Loki's point of view **

The wind blew a gentle breeze across my face, I watched silently in the background as a small statured woman made her way towards us. Standing in this form made me feel restless. I couldn't begin to explain how slow the world felt at this very moment.

My feelings were obtuse are strained.

I had watched worlds form and die as Cupid but now I as Loki am seeing the universe I created in a new way, as a feeble being, disconnected from the universe. I took a deep breath in and closed my eyes for a moment.

[ I guess the micro really does mimic the macro ]

I went to make a universe for a young soul whom I felt I owed. My cockiness and arrogance caused nothing but misfortune for him. I then decided to fix the problem by leaving a piece of myself by his side. Still, it was not enough.

[ If I were back in my body with a snap of my fingers he could be content… but would that be enough?]

[ I am being arrogant again..]

My eyes opened and she was kneeling at Yuki's feet begging for forgiveness. It didn't take long before she told us she is an assassin for the guild that Ren was running. I nodded briefly half listening and half trying my best not to slit her throat.

The words she spilled made Yuki sad again.

[ His dad and Ren thought he was dead huh? ]

Yuki's face sunk, he then covered his emotions with a poker face. My lips tightened. I wanted to yell at the girl and tell her " It is enough! " but the grand speech to protect Yuki from his feelings never came.

I just stood there silently and waited.

[When did this small soul start becoming soo important to me?]

If I helped him with my " Godly powers" would it really be helpful?

Haven't I caused enough trouble?

[I was only supposed to play the hierophant. How did I get myself into this mess?]

My throat became dry.

I swallowed with difficulty as I walked in slow steps toward Yuki. I went to touch his shoulder before I pulled away and smiled.

[ Foolish.]

" Oh, so your one of Ren's people. Where is he?" I said butting into the conversation.

[ At least I can help Yuki this way…]

" I am not sure… He.. he said he had a few jobs to do" She replied politely still kneeling.

" And Yuki's father?" I replied with slow and steady words.

" At the hideout most likely," She said with a little strain.

" You will take us to the hideout then," I said impatiently.

" I can't just take you there" She responded.

" Bellen, Take us to the hideout or have to not caused enough trouble?" I said angrily.

[ Stop making trouble you dagger baring goat! ]

" My name is Bela and I can't! You will be killed. Only assassins can get in and out" She grumped.

" It's okay Loki, we will figure this out. First, we should meet up with the others. " Yuki said before nodding gently.

His hand left my shoulder but the warmth and weight from his hand remained. He turned to signal to Kibbles who had transformed back into a human. I touched the part of my shoulder he had left an invisible print on and sighed.

[ Since when was I so unreliable? ]

I knew any attempt to cage him would cripple his wings and his soul wouldn't grow. In this form, I could live with him and change my features so I could " grow old" with him.

[ Would he want that? ]

As we were walking back to our lodging Kibbles stood by my side quietly while Bela and Yuki talked. Kibbles and I looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

We both disliked this newcomer.

" Kibbles your a newly formed organism, what do you think of this world?" I said telepathically so only Kibbles could here me.

"Mm meowster.. I don't really know to be honest" Kibbles replied as he scratched his head.

" You have technically been alive for several years you should have some ideas right?" I responded.

Kibbles inched in closer to me and grabbed my arm with both oh his hands. I petted him gently on his head and his eyes formed small happy wrinkles.

" I have missed this" Kibbles said.

" I keep forgetting you were formed based on a Scottish fold cat" I replied before I giggled.

" Well, you shouldn't! I will forever be grateful to you. You gave me life, Yuki and even the ability to like someone" Kibbles said as he blushed.

My hand stopped on his head and we began to walk forward again. Yuki and Bela were a little while ahead of us now so engulfed in their conversation Kibbles and I were invisible to them.

" What do you like about Undine anyway?" I said as I turned my head to the side.

" Well.. uh.. He's handsome and smart and.. handsome.." Kibbles said in fragmented statements seemly deep in thought.

" Oh, plus he is the only person who could beat me in a fight. Oh, besides you of course!" Kibbles said and nodded.

[ What a kid…]

"I see, well I guess his Mana is slightly higher than yours," I said as I agreed.

" You should have made me stronger!" Kibbles said with puffed cheeks as he tugged my sleeve. I began to sway a little as if I was floating on a ship from the force.

" If I made you stronger and you beat Undine all the time you wouldn't like him right?" I said as I shook my head.

Kibbles looked at me with a blank stare for a moment before seemingly finding enlightenment.

" I guess... Oh, and training every day to beat him is really fun! Plus I get to train with Yuki and everyone else too!" Kibble's voice rung through my head followed by bells of laughter.

He smiled at me with his innocent eyes and my heart felt a little lighter.

[ At least I have done one thing right. ]

" I am glad I created you Kibbles," I said after a moment of thought.

" I am glad I was made too!" Kibbles responded.

" took your damn time!" Heyu's voice spread our breaking the moment.

I looked over to see that we were back in Yuki's room. Everyone was here including the girl who had threatened Yuki's life.

Heyu was glaring at the new girl while Sora stood behind him. Nathan and Undine were quietly reading books.

Unfortunately, Nathan's book was upside down. I decided not to mention it as I knew he had been worried.

Kibbles removed his hands from my sleeves and stood up straight. He then dusted off his clothing and made his way towards Undine.

Kibbles poked Undine's face a few times and before he asked: " What are you reading?"

Undine took one look at Kibbles and responded " How to eat cats in one hundred and one different ways"

" Play nice Undine" Nathan said as he looked over at Kibbles.

" Yeah play nice smelly fish" Kibbles responded before further annoying Undine.

Undine glanced over at Kibbles and shook his head before Kibbles pouted.

[ That's all it takes for young love huh? ]

[ Love.. huh..]

I looked over at Yuki who was standing with Bela. He was in the middle of explaining to Sora and Heyu what had happened. Sora's face went pale and Heyu's face clenched. They both nodded but it didn't take an "all know being" to guess what they were thinking.

[ I am glad that at least there are people who are there for Yuki.]

The conversation continued to flow and a new battle plan was formed. We would not be heading back to the capital like we thought but a few towns over to meet a man called silver fingers. Apparently, if anyone knew where Ren was this silver gentleman would.

The conversation began to dull down to a stop and the hour of the night was late. Everyone including myself yawned at one point or another and it was time for bed.

" Hey Yuki, I was supposed to leave town tonight and as such do not have a room. Do you mind if I stay here with you?" Bela said in an unsure voice.

" Absolutely not!" Sora, Heyu and Nathan said in unison.

" I mean you did try and harm him," Nathan said diplomatically.

" I don't trust you," Sora said with a sour look on his face.

" I just won't allow it!" Heyu said before he shook his head.

" It's really no big deal," Yuki said dismissively.

" You can stay in my quarters," I said quietly to the young Bela.

Heyu, Sora and Nathan all looked at me as if I were an angel and nodded their head in agreement.

" Oh really? Thank you" Bela said before bowing.

" Thanks, Loki!" Yuki said and grinned.

The words " Thanks Loki" reverberated through my mind and I nodded.

[ I hope the roof isn't too cold to sleep on tonight ]
