177 Which century you are from

How many are there?

The number of 'brother' concubines keeps increasing.

All of them are male.

How is she going to manage them?

Shen Mei is rather worried. Her husband is so shameless. He's showing affection to another concubine right in front of her. Even if he saved her life, he should know that there are certain household laws. But he's a demon. Maybe this place has different laws.

"How could this be…" Lei's gaze switches between Kai and Shen Mei. "It's impossible." But it suits Kai. Somehow, it is not surprising that this insanity is happening to Kai. This crazy man deserves it.

"Brother Lei…" Kai drops on his knees and holds Lei's hand. "Save me."

For the first time, Lei has no answers. He feels bad for Kai, but breaking a true bond is impossible. "Why would you even sleep with a robot? Were you that desperate?"

"Huhuhuhu." Kai weeps. He was just experimenting. "It never happened before, Brother Lei."

"Of course, it didn't." Lei releases his wrist. "You can't bond twice."

"I don't even want to bond once." Kai crouches down on the floor and holds his head. "I don't want a wife."

"You want to keep the position of the main wife empty?" Shen Mei shouts. "You can't do that."

"Why does she keep talking about the position of main wife or concubines?" Noah mutters. "Are we in the ancient era or something?"

"Remember that time when Han got married." Izo crosses his arms and frowns. "His wife thought that he would take a second wife."

Han walks away, not interested in any talk related to his past. His wife and children died in that slaughter. He doesn't want to recall that day ever again. Let these little boys play among themselves.

"That's not important." Lei steps toward Shen Mei. The robot wrinkles her brows and purses her lips. Every change in her expression looks authentic. Even Lei is amazed by her. How did Kai create something so real? She looks like a person from every angle. Lei reaches for her wrist without a word. He must check whether she has a soul or not. A robot can't have a soul and the bond only exists between two souls.

The robot steps backwards, letting out a cry. "Don't touch me."

"Erm…" Lei glances at Kai. "Did you give her haphephobia?"

"I only wanted to create a maid who would clean up my lab and bedroom, " Kai defends himself for the umpteenth time.

"Only my husband can touch me. Even if you are his concubine, you are still a man," Shen Mei says to Lei. "A concubine should have shame.

"What are you then?" Lei snaps at Shen Mei. She keeps calling them Kai's concubines. He doesn't want to argue with a robot, but he doesn't want to be called Kai's concubine either. "The main wife? Get a hold of yourself. You are a robot."

"The robot is in denial, " Noah mutters. "This is exactly what we needed. A robot who acts and thinks like a human…" He pauses for a moment. "Will the King accept her? He doesn't like Kai's crazy inventions that go out of hands like this."

"If she's truly his true mate, then she will gain the king's approval," Izo replies to him. "But it could be an error. Bonds exist only between souls. I won't be surprised if Kai's true mate is a buffalo; however, a robot is a stretch."

A buffalo is certainly better than a robot. At least, he can drink buffalo's blood. Kai inches toward the exit. He should run away like Klyn. Maybe he can find Klyn and ask him if he also wants to find a way to destroy the true bond.

The other three vampires have noticed Kai's intention. A lasso of dark energy appears on Lei's hand. He throws it on Kai, freezing the poor vampire on his spot. Kai is dragged away from the exit as he continues to cry and writhe on the floor. "Let me go, please, Brother Lei. I have to find Klyn."

"Don't even think about leaving your problems for us to resolve." Lei scolds him, "You are going to take responsibility. His majesty already has enough problems. He doesn't need this."

"But…" Kai peers at Shen Mei. "I don't like her."

Shen Mei gasps. "If you don't like me, why did you kidnap me from my home and take my chastity?"

"I created that chastity!" Kai screams at her.

"Lord, you are cruel!" Shen Mei bursts into tears. "You did whatever you wanted to do to me. Now, you don't like me. How could that be? I heard everything. You were trying so hard to cure me."

"I WAS BUILDING A MAID ROBOT." Kai defends himself. "How did I cure you? I don't even know your illness."

While Shen Mei is distracted, Lei presses his finger on her wrist. The touch barely lasts for a second as she jumps back, looking at Lei with rage and confusion. Lei blinks his eyes. That's a soul for sure. How did Kai create a soul?

This robot is completely in a different world. Noah sighs. He recalls what Kai had said about finding true mates. "Say, Kai, didn't you say that you were trying to create a spell that could bring the true mate to us?"

"Nonsense." Izo tsks. Did Noah want to look for his true mate? "How is that even possible?"

"I was working on that spell." Kai replies to Noah, "But it wasn't completed."

"Were you working on soul magic?" Lei questions Kai.

"No, I was working on AI." When Lei gives him a dark look, Kai explains, "It's artificial intelligence. I wanted to make one. I only had good intentions, Brother Lei. The place is full of men. Now, we have a queen with us. Princess is also growing up. Female robots could give them some company."

Company? The three pureblooded vampires, who have known Kai for hundreds of years, have different reactions.

Noah stifles a laugh. Izo runs his fingers through his hair, not believing a word that Kai had said. Lei has an urge to choke Kai.

"Kai, Kai, Kai, how many times have I told you to stay clear of human technology?" Lei grimaces at him. "This robot has a soul. What are you going to do about it?"

"How could she have a soul?" Kai scratches his head, trying to remember what he had done before he started using magic on the robot. "Ah… I might have mixed up the research on true mates and artificial intelligence."

"Did he summon a soul?" Noah asks Lei. "But the body is artificial."

"It's possible." Lei turns to Shen Mei who is watching her husband with grievances. "Say, lady, can you tell me what the today date is?"

"Why?" Shen Mei doesn't like Lei at all. "Don't you even know today's date? It's the year of the rooster, third month…"

"Actually, just mention which century you are from." Izo adds after a pause, "I don't think that you are even from this century."

"It doesn't matter." Kai sniffles. "I don't want her. Send her back."

Izo smacks Kai's head. "You brought her!"

"I WAS ONLY TRYING TO MAKE A ROBOT!" Kai cries again. Why is everyone blaming him?
