87 If they beg, I might change my mind

"Directly approach them?" Sung Na-Mi frowns. The purebloods might be able to help them with this problem. The instability is affecting the converts only. That's why she needs to talk to the antisocial king. "Do you think that I didn't think of it? They live in a goddamn castle on the top of the mountain. They have a strong barrier around the castle. Even gods cannot break it."

Se-Yong flicks her forehead. "You are a heavenly-blessed immortal. How come you are cursing the gods?"

"Heaven isn't listening." She shrugs, "And I am cursing the gods, not heaven. They are not the same."

"I dare you to curse in front of Father when he comes back." He narrows his eyes. "You can't do it, right?"

"Oppa, can you focus on the current problem?" Na-Mi points at the bloodbath outside the window. "If this carries on, we will have too many ghosts on earth. I am sure that Arius is behind this."

Se-Yong sighs. The god of death, Arius, has been planning to cause an apocalypse using a medium. The god of time turned back the time to save their mother and prevent the apocalypse in the original timeline. Arius' medium was no one else other than their grandmother who was sent to the unbreakable prison by their father. It happened before they were born, but all of them knows the story.

"We can't be sure if it's Arius." Se-Yong states, "He dislikes the creatures who cheat death. Vampires are those creatures."

"They don't have souls." Na-Mi tabs the table with impatience. "Only if that lazy cat shows up and helps during these perilous times... I am sure that he's sunbathing somewhere without any worries. If I could get my hands on him, I would have --"

The god of time might have done everything to save the world once, but he has grown more aloof toward the world over time. He is even more antisocial than the pureblooded vampire king. He can't understand why his cousin married him. After marrying her, he took her on an indefinite honeymoon. It's been years. They haven't heard from them. Even his father couldn't find his cousin's energy in the current world. He's sure that the god of time took her in a different world or in a different time in the same world.

"You won't do anything. Cousin Ri Na would toss you in the oblivion. You know how much she worked hard to marry that cat." He shakes his head at his sister. "She's also a 10th ranked sage."

"I am heavenly blessed." Na-Mi squints at him. "What do we do now? We have to do something to stop all this."

"We should not be waiting for their message. Instead, we should go to them," Se-Yong suggests. "I am a demon. They will probably find it easy to talk to me. I will convince them."

"Will they?" Sung Na-Mi only has theoretical knowledge of the pureblooded vampires. "They live in C-country. I will open the portal."

In the castle, Fu Sheng looks at the letters -- one from the hunter and one from the council.

The letter from the hunters arrived around two hours ago. The council sent the letter last night. Since no living being can enter the castle without the king's permission, the hunters left the letter near the lake. They knew that the purebloods would know their presence by their scent. The letter from the council was sent using a teleportation device. The current council's president also sent a 'text' to Aiken's phone. The president asked if they received the letter or not.

What is going on?

"I replied to her text, but the message wasn't delivered," Aiken tells him with a neutral tone. Kai has tinkered with their phones before. So, he doesn't know why it is still working. There are things that only Kai knows. The boy must be snoring somewhere in the castle at this moment. "My King, who should we respond to?"

It's clear that the hunters and the council are not working together. They have had doubts in the past. Some decades ago, there was a change in the council. More than half of the council's members were sentenced to the unbreakable prison by the council's president at that time. That person also sent his father to the unbreakable prison. Then, the president left someone in charge of his position and disappeared for a while. After he came back, he never took charge of the position again. However, the council was reformed. But things didn't improve for the purebloods and the converts. Though the new laws gave a lot more freedom to the vampires, the hunters still hunted the vampires without any cause. The new council failed to control the hunters.

"We won't respond." Fu Sheng glances at Aiken. He won't trust the council or the hunters. It could be another ploy. If there's a chance that it isn't, he still can't see a good reason why he should help the council. He will reject the hunter because there's no way that he would let his mate associate with the hunters. "I want to see their sincerity. If they beg, I might change my mind."
