468 Leave it to Chance

"Attention all crew members, this is your Captain speaking…."

Everyone on the navigation deck stopped what they were doing to look in one direction in utter shock and horror. Their Captain is standing right in front of them, and she wasn't talking on the speaker.

That could only mean that the person on the comm right now is the intruder.

"….as of right now, there will be changes happening immediately onboard. First, for those of you who haven't realized it yet. This ship is under new management."

The crew in their quarters and in the rest of the parts on the ship looked at each others in confusion.

Some of the guards tried to contact the real Captain, to ask her what is going on?

"Secondly, the mission of this vessel has now been changed."

This sent a wave of panic through the people onboard.

"New Management?"

"...What is that supposed to mean?"

"Did something happen to the Captain?"

Those in the know, felt cold sweat break out on their backs.

"...And lastly, you will all die here today. That is all. Over."

King Rychell and Lord Voron had made their way to the underground tunnels.

There Voron helped his friend to clean up a bit, before once again informing him about Mikaela's escape into the tunnels.

"What are we to do about this? I'm sure she has seen the experiments happening down here." Voron stressed, after Rychell walked back into his study from changing his clothes in the bathroom.

"So what?...what can she do? We had already sent the ship out to deal with her clan. She'll have no one to rely on once it done." Rychell plopped into a seat, and his body sunk into the chair heavily.

"She is on that ship! I couldn't find her, but I believe she is there…"

"You let her get away and on that ship...!" Rychell threw the blame at Voron's feet.

"You let her get away, Rychell! You just had to play your little game with her, right!?..." Voron refused to be the one thrown under the bus for his friend's lack of responsibility.

Reminded of his recent murder failure, Rychell wrapped his palms on the seat armrest. He has never felt such humiliation in his life from a little fledgling.

"Fine...I'll admit this is my fault. However, why did you let the ship take off if you knew she is onboard?" His cold eyes gave a sharp look at Voron.

"I wasn't a hundred percent sure, plus we are on a tight time constraint to get the honey...but now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should had stopped the ship from taking off."

"You think she'll be to do stop a whole ship full of our people?" Rychell said in ridicule to his friend's worries.

"She made a fool out of you, didn't she?" Voron responded back.

There was silence that followed in the room as both males, watched each other with anger in their eyes.

Rychell was quiet for a while before responding, "No, just sent a second to shoot down the first ship. Why leave it to chance?"

"Okay." Voron rushed off to get another ship to chase after the first vessel.

Onboard the ship heading to the Amara clan, the crew were trying to making a last effort to stop Mikaela.

The guards ran about trying to make a last effort to find her, while the crew on the navigation deck were all fighting with each other to get into the vents to escape.

Mika watched this all from escape pod.

"These are supposed to be the people I need to give up my family for…?" She turned around to show Osonia the video feed of the people onboard on the escape pod's monitor.

"You just told them they are going to die, of course they will be panicking."

"Hmph...so they don't want to die, but everyone else should." Mika turned back around ignoring Osonia's presence again.

Typing in her commands, she shut down oxygen supply to each level one by one. The frantic crew's movements started to slow down until only a few stragglers were left. Osonia couldn't watch and turned her head away.

The friends that she made over the years were slowly dying before her eyes.

The whole ordeal took less than two hours to complete, and Mika couldn't be more satisfied with the results.

Decreasing the speed of the ship, Mika wanted to make sure that everyone onboard excluding her and Osonia, were dead before she continue to fly the ship towards the Amara clan.

It wouldn't do to have the ship land with surviving crew members.

As she waited, she went through the mainframe's logs and files, downloading any useful information she could find.

"Hey, you…" Mika spoke to Osonia without turning around.

"Me?"

"Yes, you." Who else is in here? "Tell me more about this big plan the King has."

"I-I don't know much…"

"Really? Then what good is it keeping you around? I should just throw you out there...", Mika pointed to the hatch of the escape pod, "...with the rest of them, rather than have you eat up my oxygen."

Osonia started to panic, she didn't want to die. This is the whole reason she chose to join the King's hidden experiment.

"I told you everything I know already!"

"Then you should think of something you haven't told me already. I'll give you five minutes." Mikaela said emotionlessly.

Osonia though to herself. What can she tell this young female to get her spare her life?

"One minute left."

When did our minutes go so fast!? Sweat was dripping down her face. The images that showed on the monitor of the rest of the crew suffocating to death, kept flashing in her head. She saw herself just like them, begging for air.

"Three...two….one... You have anything for me?" Mika twirled around in her seat to face Osonia.
