21 Is this how I die?

"Aaahhhh!"

Lila screamed as she saw the Commander pushed the ejection button. She continued to scream as she saw the blackness of space surround her sleeper cell. The cell rotated as it exited the ship's air lock. Spinning 360, Lila was able to see the void of space all around her.

Her breath showed on the cell's tiny window. She knew she was hyperventilating, but she couldn't stop herself. 'They ejected her. They really ejected her.' There was nothing she could do. Stuck in a coffin, and shot out to the oxygen deprived space. 'Was the only thing she could do was wait for death?'

Banging her head and hands against the cell's walls pitched the sleeper cell to a vertical position. Lila stopped moving, hoping she didn't break the latch of the lid open in her tantrum. Seeing nothing was wrong, Lila though maybe she could turn the cell back towards the ship. Shifting her body to the side. Her felt the cell rotate to the side. When the window finally caught a glimpse of the fleet's ships. She saw them separate, and prepare their engines for hyperspace.

One minute they were all there and the next just endless space.

Lila had always felt alone, but this was petrifying. All Lila could hear was she breathing.

"Is this how I'm going to die?"

Even when she didn't receive a ticket, she didn't feel as helpless as she did now. Fate has a cruel way of dealing with her.

After the helplessness washed away, rage set in. Lila cursed Kara, Pace, the Commander, even the whole crew on board the fleet.

"These assh*les!" Tears coursed down her face.

_______

Tired out from her yelling and crying, Lila laid silently in the cell. Floating pass distance stars, Lila's eyes lids felt heavy. Her mind was begging for her to escape reality with rest. Maybe she can die in her sleep.

Moving her body into a better position. Relaxing, she slowly closed her eye lids.

*Boom*

Loud thunder-like sound pierced into Lila's sleeper cell. Followed by a force that knocked Lila's head against the walls of the cell. Eyes snapping open. Lila frantically looked this way and that. Thinking perhaps the fleet came back for her, but instead a giant colorful hole appeared in front of her eyes.

"Th-Th-This can't be what I think it is? Can It?"

The hole's opening became bigger bigger as light illuminated from inside bring forth the most beautiful sight Lila has ever seen.

"It's a wormhole. It's a wormhole. How could it just pop up here?"

Lila laughed as she tried to take in every inch of the wormhole in from of her.

So caught up, she wasn't aware of the surrounding stars being sucked into the hole.Comprehension finally dawn on her when the hole's opening got closer and closer to cell's window.

Feeling the gravitational pull of the wormhole, trepidation first set in followed by a serene feeling.

"Why are you scared Lila? Not many get to see this kind of sight in their life time. It least I can see and experience this before I die?" Lila laughed as she decide to enjoy the ride.

Sucked into the wormhole, her sleeper cell travelled at a faster speed than the fleet's hyper speed. Hoping the cell shell can hold up against the pressure. Lila relaxed watching the stars zoom pass her.

"This is amazing. Will I make i-"

Just as Lila was thinking of where the wormhole will take her. The alarms of the sleeper cell started to blare into her ears.

"Warning! Warning! Oxygen levels are low. Please refuel. Warning! Warning!..."

"Damn It! Couldn't it have hold on until I made it out. You screw me over once again fate!" Lila yelled when she knew she wasn't going to be able to see the end of this wormhole.

Determine to not let her imposing death destroy the last moments of her life. She tune out the alarms. Her breaths were becoming shorter and shorter. Body feeling lethargic, Lila knew the end was near.

One inhale, one exhale.

One inhale, one exhale.

One inhale...

_________

Weightlessness, that's what Lila felt. Airy, free; nothing but feathery lightness. Lila opened her eyes, she was still in the wormhole.

"How is this possible?"

Turning behind her, she came face to face with herself. Her body laid inside the cell, eyes closed. Face calm without any pain. She was dead. Looking down at her hands there was no solidity to them. She was corporeal. Lila had never believed in anything spiritual but she now believed in souls.

"It must be the wormhole."

Thinking that this wormhole has more to it than it seems. Lila tried jumping back into her body, but her hands just passed right thru.

"Why go back anyways Lila? Just to die in a coffin?" Lila laughed at herself for her foolishness.

Watching and waiting for the end of the wormhole. Lila started to see changes in the sleeper cell that wasn't there before. When she looked at her face, it showed signs of decomposing. Within a few moments her skin look dry and grayish. This wormhole not only allowed her to travel space at fast speed it also sped time up.

Lila continued to watch as the cell and her body degenerated into dust before her eyes.
