451 Drannor Knocking On The Door

Cohnal's body quickly began to sink before everyone' eyes; and not just not height. His muscles began losing to their mass, his hair elongated from his scalp as his teeth started falling out.

"S-Stop!" Cohnal cried out before falling to his knees.

He kept begging as Mano continued. The sight horrified the clan members, especially those who had lean towards Cohnal's leadership. They feared that this may also be their death.

Few minutes passed with clan members looking away or throwing up.

By now, Cohnal was nothing more than a skeleton. He couldn't talk, his eyelids were no longer able to close as his skin had lost all its elasticity. He look like a mummified.

Cohnal glanced over at the clan members who stood around for silent help, but no one moved.

In the next second, Cohnal was gone, followed by his body turning into dust.

Mano hated using his gift this way, as taking in someone's else life force results in too much energy in his body, which could explode. Luckily, he was able to tired out and make Cohnal drain most of his energy before killing him.

"Lord Mano?" His captain called after waiting for him to give out orders on what to do next.

"En...round up everyone on the list I gave you earlier, as well as the rest of Cohnal's supporters." Mano needed to closed his eyes to consume the excess energy into his body safely.

"Yes, sir." Captain responded, but just as he was about to walk away Mano called out, "Is my Uncle secured?"

"Pardon, my Lord?"

"Elder Drannor, He was with Cohnal when we began fighting. Did the soldiers arrest him?"

"My Lord, I haven't seen Elder Drannor among the prisoners."

Mano's eye snapped opened, "Find him now!"

"Yes, sir!"

He be damned if he lets that old crook get away.

In Lyra's residence, knowing what was about to happen within the clan, she told her servants to stay indoors while moving Lady Thalia into her courtyard.

She didn't offer this to anyone else nor did she warn the other clan members about the potential power struggle about to happen.

However, Lady Thalia had helped her and Mikaela, she couldn't leave her to fend for herself.

"Lyra, what is going on outside?" Thalia asked from the bed. She still hasn't recovered fully from her illness, the only thing she could do is lay in bed.

"I'm not sure yet, I just sent someone out to go check the situation." Lyra said as she drew the covers closer to Thalia's body.

Seeing the other female take care of her all the time made Thalia feel thankful and useless at the same time.

How I wish I was young again… Thalia thought.

Her last pregnancy, though was some time ago, was tough on her body and it never fully recovered. Add in, her not taking care of herself over the years, resulted in her sickly body now.

Looking at Lyra move around the room, Thalia was envious.

"Lyra, you're fat."

Thalia's off handed comment caused all the maids to stop what they were doing and stare at their two madams.

Growing use to her friend's snarky comments whenever she is feeling bad about herself, Lyra just glance down at her own body and said, "Mmm...good. Mika says males like fat asses."

Not getting the reaction she wanted, Thalia sucked her teeth and looked away, "Tch! You're no fun…"

Seeing that Lady Thalia just wanted to have some drama, the maids sigh and shook their heads.

However, before anyone could enjoy the relax mood in the room, they heard pounding coming from the front gates.

*Boom* *Boom* *Boom*

"Open up!" A male's voice was heard shouting.

All the servants looked to Lady Lyra since it is her courtyard.

"Stay here." She ordered.

Walking to her bedroom, she quickly changed her clothes to ones that allow better movement and grabbed her short sword.

Once properly dressed in flexible attire, she made her way towards the front gate.

Holding her short sword in her hand. Lyra angled herself away, so when she opens the gate she wouldn't be in the line of fire; nor could whoever was outside banging on her door could see her weapon.

"Who is it?" She asked before unlocking the latch.

"Lady Lyra...it's me, Elder Drannor. We need to get you out of here now!"

Lyra listened to his desperate words and wanted to laugh. There was no way she was going to believe that Elder Drannor, the male who made it his goal in the clan to constantly berate her, was coming to her rescue today.

Instead, Lyra held in her laughter and asked, "Why?"

On the other side of the gate, Elder Drannor stood with a platoon of his own soldiers waiting for when Lyra will let him in.

When Mano stopped him and Cohnal on their way to kill the clan members, who stood against them, Drannor didn't think they would lose.

As the two brothers fought, things quickly took a turn outside of his expectations. Cohnal's men didn't stand a chance against Mano's soldiers, and even though his nephew still thought he had a chance. Drannor immediately realized that they were going to lose.

Making a decision, he gather what was left of his men and abandoned Cohnal to his faith while making his way towards Lady Thalia's residence, only to find it empty.

Panicking, he changed coursed and went to Lady Lyra's residence.

He needed one of the two madams as a hostage, so he and his family can make their escape.

His soldiers went to rush inside the courtyard, but the gate was firmly locked. He was happy as this meant Lady Lyra was still inside.

Smiling, he quickly pounded on the gate.

Once he is able to get his hands on Lady Lyra, he wouldn't have to worry about Mano killing him.

Though hearing Lyra ask him why she should open the gate for him, made Drannor wanted to curse and yell at the female's audacity.

She just a lowly wretch...how dare she ask me why!

However, to not waste any time, Drannor curbed his anger.

"Mano sent me to guide you to safety. Cohnal is on his way over to you." He had no problem throwing his co-conspirator under the bus.

It was silent for a few moment on the other side, that Drannor thought she might have walked off, but then Lyra replied.

"No...that's okay, I'll take my chances here. You go run and hide."

"What! You little-" Drannor caught himself just in time before he could start to curse.

"Lady Lyra open this gate this instant!"

"No."

"You-"

Drannor didn't care to be polite anymore. Turning to his men, he signaled for him to break the door down.
