134 No Turning Back

Xander glares at me and says "Don't be stupid." I reach real deep for patience as I say "I'm not. You have no chance against Enzo. If you stay here, you will either be killed or get me killed trying to keep your furry ass from getting killed."

He grits his teeth in anger and slowly steps to the side. As I walk past him, he suddenly says "If I run into you while with the others, I'll have no choice but to fight you. My pack wants blood and as their alpha, I have to give it to them."

I stop to look at him with a smirk as I ask "Is this a warning?" He stares down at me with conflicted emotions but he doesn't say anything else. I shake my head and say "As an alpha, you should be controlling your pack, not allowing them to control you. Don't worry, you and I have no reason to see each other ever again."

Without waiting for a response, I walk straight into the graveyard without looking back. I walk in between all the large gravesites until I find the very center. I start to hum as I look up at the now darkened sky.

I've been to many places in my long life but nothing compares to the feeling of New Orleans. It's rich with history, heritage, magic, and wonder. It's like a whole new world... even these gravesites are different.

The very soil they reside on is one of rich, old magic. The gravesites are all up above ground because the city of New Orleans is actually below sea level. Any time it rains hard or we get bad weather and it floods, the caskets would float up out of the ground so they do it this way.

It just adds to the magical feeling of this land and the people who once lived here. The clouds above me hide the night sky but the incoming storm felt like my mother was somehow with me. I take a deep, calming breath before calling out "Enzo..."

At first, nothing happens but when I feel the air around me beginning to change, I turn to my right to find him looking around the cemetery with amusement. When he finally looks at me, he smiles and asks "You called?"

I nod my head and say "I wanted to talk... Is there really no way for you to stop all of this?" His smile grows as he says "Are you kidding!? This is the most fun I've had in years! Look around you Eris. The world is literally mine for the taking. Why wouldn't I take it?"

I toe the dirt under my foot as I say "I don't know... maybe you can find it in you to walk away and not throw the whole human realm into chaos." He gives me a knowing smile and starts walking to me as he says "Find it in me? You speak as if I have a soul or something. My dear little Eris... There's only heaven, hell, human, and Fae realms. The Fae realm has been forever lost and gone."

He comes to a stop in front of me and says "I'm already the King of hell... I will stop at nothing to be the King of this realm as well. You'll remain by my side as my beautiful, exotic pet and together, we'll take the heavens!" He reaches out and touches the side of my face as I chuckle and say "Your pet... how nice."

He leans in closer and says "You can rule by my side as my woman if you wish. My arms are always open to you my dear." I stare up into his dark, evil eyes and say "Why don't I accompany you back to hell." I quickly stab my enchanted blade into his stomach but he barely even flinches.

If anything, his smile grows as he leans in and says "I have no problem taming you my love. I think I would quite enjoy it." I twist the blade and say "Both of us are dying tonight." He reaches down and slowly wraps his hand around my hand. The one still holding the blade...

His eyes lock onto mine as he says "No one's dying tonight." He rips the blade out and backhands me so hard, I fly straight into a gravestone several feet behind me. I use my magic to immediately heal myself and wipe the blood off my lower lip as I slowly stand up and crack my neck.

As I walk over the fallen, crumbled gravestone, I glare at him and say "We'll see about that." I lace my hands in hellfire and shoot it straight at him as I whisper "Expergisci" Awaken and watch with a smile when the cemetery starts coming to life around us.

He looks around, mildly impressed as I whisper "Expergisci et coercere." Awaken and restrain. The ghosts begin moving towards the outer gates of the cemetery blocking anyone from coming in but most importantly, blocking Enzo from leaving.

He may have the upper hand on the living and the damned/cursed but he doesn't have control over ghosts. He chuckles low and says "This is actually kind of cute. Eris, my dear, what do you think you'll accomplish by facing me? Do you really think you can beat me?"

My heart races in fear and dread as I say "I will kill you tonight and send you back to hell or I will die trying." His smile falters a little as the little voice inside me says 'And die you will...' He rolls his shoulders and says "Then come. I will show you just how weak and stupid you really are."

Binx suddenly says "This is a suicide mission, Eris! I can feel his power from here!" I feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest as I shake my shaking hands out and say to Binx "I thank you for your service old friend." I hear him curse as I pull out my dual blades and spin them.
