Chapter 141 - Private Affair

Only a few minutes after the two sisters got to their room, there was a knock on the door. Reen reluctantly left Joreen and went to open it, then she saw Li Hoy standing there. He looked so unlike himself.

"How is she?" He asked quietly, just in case she was sleeping so he wouldn't disturb her.

As much as Reen wanted to stay with her younger sister, she knew Joreen would be better with Hoy.

"She's awake." Reen stepped away from the door to let him inside. "I'll just go see what is happening out there."

"Thank you." Hoy said in a very genuine tone which surprised Reen but she nodded and left the room. She didn't have to tell him to take care of Joreen since she knew he would do a good job.

When he entered, he saw Joreen on the bed. Her body formed a ball on the bed. She didn't have her head on the pillow neither did she cover herself with a duvet.

He slowly went to the bed and sat down beside her before placing a kiss on her temple.

She turned her head immediately and looked at him. Her eyes were red and misty and it broke his heart to see that.

"I'm so sorry. I should have protected you from him." He said, feeling extremely guilty.

She gently sat up and shook her head. "No. Thank you. You saved me." She told him sincerely. Who would have thought Kyle was that crazy? Now, she understood why everyone was advising her against being free with everyone. She had innocently communicated with Kyle not knowing she was indirectly leading him on.

Hoy sighed before he hugged her. She scooted closer to him and returned the hug while sniffing.

"I promise you Jo, I'll never let anything like this happen again." He swore.

She nodded and broke free from the hug to clean her tears with her hands.

She managed to smile at him. Thankful he had saved her. She didn't want to imagine what would have happened had he not called her at that point.

He used his fingers to clean the residue of tears from her face before leaning closer to kiss her gently on her forehead. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment. Her heart was racing very fast and she couldn't tell if it was because she was still very anxious from earlier or it was because of Hoy.

"What... is going to happen to him?" She asked.

"The family wants to sue him for sexual harrassment and stalking. We won't forget to include the part where he threatened your life. I already spoke with the police chief. They'll be waiting to pick him up immediately we land. I also spoke with his mother to let her know what was happening and advised her against trying to settle."

Joreen sighed. "Do you.... think... it was my fault?" She asked guiltily. "Maybe I said or did something that led him—"

"You didn't." He shook his head, cutting her off. "Apparently, this isn't the first time for him. There was this girl he stalked back then in middle shool. Kyle seemed like the type who isn't used to people not wanting him. The girl made a complain but also had to leave the town because he was creeping her out. I should have checked more about him before we started this trip." He sighed before touching the side of her face gently. Why were the strangest guys approaching her? First it was Wei Yong and now it was Kyle.

"I will make sure he pays for what he did to you Jo. He won't get the chance to play basketball anymore or join the national team this year. He needs to go to prison and also visit a psychiatrist because he is definitely crazy. And do not look at me like that. It is something he deserves." Hoy said when he saw the pitiful look she was giving him.

She remembered how Kyle had spoken proudly about joining the national team this year. But he deserved to be punished for his crime.

"I... don't just want this issue to blow up."

"It's going to be private. The public won't know about it. I'll make sure of that."

"What about Reen? She brought him here as her supposed boyfriend and he... he... did what he did. People would talk bad about her. I'm sure she feels horrible about everything."

Hoy adjusted and cupped her face. "Look Jo, you should understand that I won't ever do anything to hurt you or anyone you love. So trust me on this and let me handle it all. Hmm?"

She felt a lot better after talking to him. She nodded, believing what he had said. "Thank you. You are so good to me."

He smiled warmly at her. "How else am I supposed to treat my baby?"

She snorted. "Look at you being all cheesy. If your employees heard you, they would lose all respect for you."

He snickered. "That's their business."

"I am glad you are better now." He said, looking a lot relieved.

There was a tap on the door before it was opened from outside and Changyu came in with his mother.

Hoy stood up from the bed immediately he saw them enter.

He felt a little uncomfortable with both women's presence, but they surprisingly ignored him and faced Joreen instead.

"You don't have to stand." Hoy's mother stopped Joreen when she tried to leave the bed.

"How do you feel dear?" Changyu asked, sitting beside Joreen and pulling her into a hug.

"Better. Thanks."

"Don't be silly! Why are you thanking me? Too bad I didn't get the opportunity to deal with that boy properly. You uncle didn't let me leave immediately. He wanted me to count to five hundred before I leave the room cause he was scared I was going to kill that boy."

Joreen forced out a smile. "You... wouldn't have done that. Uncle likes to exaggerate."

"Haha! He wasn't exaggerating in this one." Changyu said, surprising Joreen who gulped.

"Dear, we are going to handle this. Just don't think about it or blame yourself okay? If you need a psychologist after this, I would gladly provide you the best in the country." Hoy's mother offered.

"Thank you aun—" Joreen paused. She usually called her 'Auntie'. Was it okay to still call her that now or call her mother?

"Jo... we were discussing earlier, also with your mother." Changyu said seriously.

"Do not take this the wrong way... but we were thinking if you two were considering keeping your relationship from the public for the mean time?"

Joreen avoided her gaze and looked down in embarrassment before looking up at Hoy who looked confused by the suggestion.

"Do not take this the wrong way, but considering all that had happened lately especially with Wei Yong, Bai Aishu and Long Xi, we were thinking it would be best if the public didn't know for now. Well... until we are done with the girls' case and you two think you are ready to make it official." Hoy's mother quickly explained to the two but especially to Hoy who wanted to speak earlier.

Joreen looked at Hoy. She had thought about it before and thought it made sense. If the public knew about their relationship now, they were just going to conclude the scandal had been true so how were they going to justify whatever punishment they had for Aishu and Xi?

Hoy seemed to be cool with that. He wasn't the type to flaunt his private life to the public in the first place.

He nodded slowly at Joreen so she agreed. She wasn't in a hurry after all.

"Good! Thank you for being so understanding." Hoy's mother smiled at the two. At that moment, an announcement came in through the intercom to let everyone know that they had arrived the country.
