Chapter 77 - Delusional

Since those inside could see outside while those outside could not see inside, the people inside saw Joreen sitting alone outside. Although they were a few people outside, admiring the sea, it wasn't hard to spot her even though she was wearing a hoodie.

But with the way she was sitting, they could only see her side profile.

There were some lights which could be termed as 'street lights' around the area, which helped brightened up the place. The last thing anyone wanted was staying in an island with everywhere being dark.

"The scandal must have really gotten to her. She's been really quiet." Li Minde said, bringing their attention to her.

Hoy didn't want to talk about the scandal. That was the last topic he wanted to discuss with his brother and cousin. So he decided to look away and focus on his drink instead. It was best to not say a word because he had the feeling his older brother was up to something.

"Would you look at that?" Minde said, his eyes still on Joreen.

"Isn't that Reen's boyfriend approaching her?"

Hoy looked, not because he was curious, but because Minde seemed to be asking a question which was not rhetorical by the way. And just maybe, Minde wanted him to answer, so he looked.

The three of them watched as Kyle said something to Joreen, who was looking up at him.

"He likes her." Muchen suddenly said.

"Really? How did you know so?" Minde asked Muchen curiously.

"It wasn't difficult to notice." Muchen shrugged. Apparently, he was the smartest one among all of them. Maybe there was a time in his life where he acted childishly because he was in love, but that was only something that happened once in a blue moon. He had both the IQ and EQ.

Unfortunately, his cousins were not gifted like him. Minde had the EQ while Hoy had the IQ.

"That's fucked up! Did you know about it?"

Minde turned to ask Hoy. He didn't need to confirm first whether Kyle truly liked Joreen because he completely, totally, wholly and entirely trusted his cousin's judgement a hundred percent.

Hoy didn't answer. He kept his gaze on the two young people.

"You probably do not. You have more important things to look at instead of spending your time trying to notice the guys noticing Joreen." Minde said but it sounded like he was teasing him again.

Hoy raised a brow at him. Something was wrong here.

"Don't give me that look. I mean you spend time looking at documents instead of things like that." Minde said with a short laugh before turning to Muchen, "He is so dumb." He 'whispered' but it was loud enough for Hoy to hear.

"Wow! Just see how he is looking at her. He is totally enamoured by her charm. This is going to be a problem if Reen finds out right?" Minde turned to ask them. This time, he didn't have a smirk nor smile on his face. He looked a bit worried.

As much as Hoy hated to admit, they both looked young and perfect together.

But the sight wasn't pleasant to him. Maybe he hated seeing perfect things, because all he wanted was to pull them apart.

"Excuse me." He said and stood up but he stopped when he noticed Joreen stood up, she looked alarmed and was hurriedly walking away from Kyle.

~~~~~
Joreen was glad she had listened to Reen and come out here because watching the waves, she felt a lot better. Reen had carried a hoodie out for her so now she was wearing the hoodie, also covering her head but she was still in the tiny short and slipper. Not much to keep her from the cold, but she felt nice.
While she was seated in a beach chair, looking at the sea, Reen was busy exploring around with a camera and Joreen didn't even know where she was at the moment. Reen had tried to persuade her to follow her, but she preferred sitting here and watching the waves than walking around. Maybe if it was during the day, she would have actually liked the idea.
"Hi!" She turned her head to the side immediately she heard a voice behind her.
She was a bit surprised and also not so surprised to see it was Kyle.
"Hi." She greeted back.
"Can I sit?" He asked, looking at the empty seat beside her.
Joreen didn't want him to, but she couldn't just shoo him away especially when he looked sad like something was bothering him.
"You can." She shrugged.
"Thank you." He flashed her a dimpled smile before taking the seat beside her. She noticed how his eyes went to her legs and she immediately became self conscious, trying to pull the hoodie to cover most part of her exposed thigh.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked, quickly looking up at her little pretty face.
"Why are you asking me that?" She asked instead of directly answering his question. Was he talking about the fact that he was just staring at her thighs or what?
"Because I feel you are avoiding me." He said and sighed sadly. "I thought we were going to get along just fine."
'Why does he not sound sincere?' Joreen wondered as she kept looking at his face. There was something about Kyle that she couldn't place her hands on just yet. An alarm rang in her head to stay away from him at all cost.
"Why would I avoid you?" She threw the question back at him.
Kyle sighed deeply. Being handsome was one hell of a problem. One of such problems was finding the right way to style your hair, the perfect clothes to bring out your appearance, and the biggest problem of all was dealing with girls who were smitten by him. He get it, he is quite hot, everyone knows that duh.
He has the perfect body, the killer smile, the dimples that made ladies and even guys swoon. and he was popular in school, plus being the ace of the basketball team crowned just how awesome, amazing and perfect he was.
Reen was a beauty, she was a wonderful basketballer and seeing a girl being excellent at the sport he liked, he was hooked. He had had a thing or two with different girls and even cheerleaders in school, but he thought just maybe, he would be able to last with Reen. Why not? She was very pretty, smart, good at basketball, and to top it all, she was indirectly related to the Song- Wang- Li family.
Maybe things would have gone smoothly if he hadn't met Joreen.
From the moment he stepped his feet inside her house and saw her coming from the kitchen, he was simply enchanted.
He had never imagined himself having a thing for a brown skinned girl, but he found himself suddenly having such thoughts. When he noticed how smitten she looked when she saw him, he realised he wouldn't have much of a problem since she was already smitten by him. It was really cute how she didn't try to hide it. He could literally see the blush on her cheeks whenever he complimented her or when they shook hands.
And he realised... he wanted her. God! He wanted her. And she wanted him too. He could tell by all her actions. Especially how she was avoiding him lately. Maybe it was because he hadn't officially broken it off with Reen. But did she have to give him the attitude?
At first, he thought she liked the CEO of Li Corporation, but he later realised she was probably pretending to like him to make him jealous and it was working. Because hell, he was jealous!
He wished he could just grab her now and let her know he also wanted her just like she wanted him. Maybe he would be able to last long with her if they eventually got into a relationship? Or maybe he would get bored after a week or two? He wasn't sure what the answer was, but for now, he wanted to know how it would feel like to hold her fragile body in his arms, to kiss her, to carress her delicate skin.
"KYLE?!"
He returned to his senses when she called his name loudly. It was only now that he realised he had been lost in his thought. So the whole time, he was staring at her.
Maybe she was flustered because he had been staring at her for too long? It was so hard being handsome and not even trying so hard to seduce girls because everything you did seemed to make them swoon.
"Are you okay? She asked with a frown. What was suddenly wrong with him that made him keep staring at her like that? His stares had made her feel very uncomfortable because he looked like a predator looking at his prey.
'It's so cute when she worries about me.' He thought to himself when he saw how she was frowning. But he shouldn't let her know just yet that their feelings were mutual. If he did, it may cause some kind of trouble for him because her family wouldn't like that. What if she wanted them to date immediately?
No. He had to be patient.
"I am okay. I was... just thinking. Maybe, you would—"
'Where is Reen by the way? What if she is in trouble?' The thought suddenly popped into Joreen's head and stood up from her seat immediately. They were in an unknown island. What if there was some kind of dangerous animal or savages? Or what if she had fallen into a pit? The what ifs were beginning to make her panic so she began to head towards the house which was more suited to be referred to as a hotel or resort, totally forgetting about Kyle.
She wasn't stupid to go look for her sister alone by this time of the night. She would have to at least ask her parents to join her or even the security for their help.
"Hey!" Kyle called after her but she was already running towards the building.
"What is wrong with her?" He asked himself. Perhaps, she thought he wanted to call her out on her crush and she was too embarrassed?
Or maybe she thought he wanted to confess to her and it was too much for her to take?
Why was Luo Joreen so complicated?
'Girls!' He sighed.
