Chapter 48 - Only Woman In His Life.

"Are you out of your mind? What do you think you were doing in there?" Heya asked Liang angrily. He had excused himself to take a call in a more quiet area and so she took the chance to escape. Unfortunately or fortunately, they bumped into each other again so Heya decided she had to give him a piece of her mind.

"Did you try to remind yourself that your fiancee was sitting just across us and so was her brother?!"

"Why do you care?" He asked with an indifferent tone that made her angrier.

"Are you being serious right now? Why do I care? Maybe I should remind you again that she is your fiancee! You should show her some respect. Also, I consider Suyin my friend and do not want to hurt her."

"Why?" He asked calmly. "You suddenly do not like to hurt peoples' feelings?" He added.

She wanted to respond but she realised she was tongue tied. He was purposely taunting her.

"I didn't know you cared so much about other peoples' feelings after breaking up with me like that. Why do you suddenly care about how she feels?"

"One has nothing to do with the other Zhu Liang. She is your fiancee and nothing is going to change that."

"We can always break up."

"What... are you talking about?" Heya asked in surprise.

"You will break up with Suyin? Are you crazy?"

"Do not act like a saint here, Li Heya." He said sharply.

"I hate the fact that you can all do whatever you want but when it comes to me, everyone keeps telling me what I am supposed to do and what I am not supposed to. Do you realise how silly that is?" His eyes looked sad and angry.

She was quiet for a moment before asking in resignation, "What exactly is it that you want?"

"You." Came his abrupt answer. "I want you back."

Heya forgot to breathe for a full minute after he said that. Was he crazy? How could he say that so casually?

"Is that too much to ask? I really miss being happy Li Heya. I miss being with you." He took a step towards her and she took one backwards.

"Why can't I be happy? You miss me too right?" He asked hopefully.

"Stop it! Stop it!! Stop it!!! Just stop it!" She used her hands to cover her ears, trying to block out his words. She feared if she listened any longer, it may get to her.

"You have a fiancee!" She reminded him for the umpteenth time.

"Damn it Heya, I do not have a fiancee!" He said, his voice rising higher.

"We are not officially engaged. Why can't everyone see that I am not up for any of this?"

"But you agreed to it and that changes everything!"

"Because I thought it would help me get over thinking about you every single time!" He confessed.

"My parents thought pairing me up with her would make me feel better and I will finally stop brooding over you but look what happened! We bumped into each other right here. Do you think it is easy for me?"

"Like you, I cannot just pretend we had nothing. I cannot pretend like I do not love you and I cannot pretend like I am happy seeing you with Shen or letting him hold your hands. I..." He stopped talking to take in a long, deep breath. "I love you, Li Heya. Always have, always will."

Heya took another step backwards. "Do not give me that bullshit Liang. Do you know how I felt while dating you? Do you know how much I suffered emotionally because of you?"

"It was never because of me." He corrected.

"It was all because of your inferiority complex. Do you know how annoying it was that you kept questioning my feelings for you? Yes, I admit there are a lot of pretty girls out there. There are slender girls, petite girls, and whatever you think in that head of yours is termed 'pretty'. I saw all of them but it was you I fell for. Did you think I was blind when I said you were the prettiest girl I've ever seen? You think I was stupid when I told you how much you meant to me? But you were always doubting! You see a girl saying 'hi' to me and you get jealous. I don't call you for a day and you get suspicious. For goodness sake, do you know how frustrating it was? Do you know how many times I wanted to break up with you? But I didn't. I could not. Because I was deep in love with you even though you were crazy and fucking annoying. But how... how could you simply break up with me like it was nothing?"

His eyes were red. Maybe it was from anger, or from unshed tears which was slowly forming a pool in his eyes.

"Was my worries unfounded? Was my insecurities? Swear you didn't cheat on me especially with that girl who was always around you? Even the media talked about it—"

He looked at her, disppointement written all over his face. "You always believed the media more than you believed me anyway." He said, his voice sounding weak and resigned.

Heya waited for him to at least give her an explanation or excuse but instead, he walked away, leaving her standing there by herself.

What was she going to do? She was practically stuck here with everyone until their vacation was over. How would she face the Yan siblings if she got herself involved with Liang?

**********

"Can we talk?" Kyle asked Reen. He had been sitting there for a while but none of the sisters paid him any attention. In fact, they also didn't say anything even to each other.

Joreen remembered Changyu had told her to stay away from him. It was now that she began to think seriously about it and why she had said that. She remembered all the times she caught Kyle staring at her, the times he smiled at her, complimented her and tried to touch her.

It didn't make sense that he liked her right? She asked her inner self in panic. How could her sister's boyfriend be in love with her? That was totally crazy!

She wanted to rule it out simply as overthinking, but she remembered Reen's reaction earlier today, and how Reen suddenly didn't want to see or talk about Kyle. Now that he was even here, she wasn't paying him any attention.

It wasn't because of her right?

'Oh God! Why didn't I think of this sooner?' Joreen asked herself. If Changyu hadn't mentioned anything to her, she probably would have been chatting and smiling happily at Kyle thereby hurting her sister without knowing.

"We are busy. Besides, I don't want to leave Joreen alone." Reen said to Kyle who wanted to speak privately.

Joreen's head shot up immediately. If she continued to stay there, this might just get worse.

"Uhm.. I think I'll go use the restroom." She slurred and tried to stand up but her feet were wobbly so she fell back on her seat.

Wow! She was really drunk.

"I will go with you Jo." Reen offered.

"No.. I'm fine. I can walk down to the restroom myself." Joreen assured her with a smile. She didn't bother to look at Kyle. She was so uncomfortable right now and wanted to disappear–after using the restroom of course, because she was pressed.

Joreen pushed herself up and placed her hands on the table to keep herself steady before taking the first step.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Kyle asked.

Her eyes unconsciously went to him and she noticed how worried he looked.

'Don't be worried about me you bastard.' She said in her head while glaring at him.

But when she saw how surprised he looked and how Reen's facial expression also changed slightly, she realised she had said that out loudly and not in her head.

"I... will just go use the restroom." She said and began to escape.

Her eyes were unsteady and her body felt so light she feared she would fall any minute but she didn't want to relent and sit back down or ask for Reen's assistance. Reen and Kyle had to talk. Maybe Reen would feel better?

"You can do this Jo." She willed herself and continued to move. Her eyes scanned around the hall for Hoy. Reen had forbade her from staring at him so she had no idea what he had been up to or whether he was still with that girl.

She finally saw him. Aishu was still sitting across him. She could see the girl laughing to something which was probably not funny. The sight made Joreen remember her dream and immediately, she began to march towards them drunkenly, bumping into someone on her way.

She could tell the person was almost blowing up at her but he smiled once he saw her face, looked her up and down before asking,

"Wow! Who is this pretty girl?" He looked to be in his late 30s while another man who looked slightly younger stood behind him.

Joreen completely ignored him. She kept her sight on the two people. She hated the fact that Hoy wasn't seeing her right now since his back was to her.

"Care to drink with me?" He asked with a smile which showed he didn't have any good intentions.

Joreen ignored him and tried to walk away but he kept appearing in front of her, blocking her path and her sight.

"I am sorry, but I will decline." She said, trying to sound as polite as she could.

"Come on, do not do that pretty girl." As he spoke, the man who had been following him quickly whispered into his ear, letting him know who Joreen was and what family she was from. Also reminding him that Li Hoy was just a few seats away.

"Oh.." He looked a bit flustered. "Maybe... some other time then?" He asked but she was already staggering away.

Was she going to be okay seeing Li Hoy with another woman? The answer was No. She wanted to be the only woman in his life. With that resolve, she appeared beside him.
