Chapter 121: Rebecca's Story

In a room, four people were sitting. There were three women and a man.

This was Ayaan's disguised group.

Ayaan looked at Rebecca solemnly and asked, "You know something about that Punishment Hall Leader?"

Hearing Punishment Hall Leader's name a complicated emotion appeared on Rebecca's face. Ayaan could tell there was hatred in her eyes for this particular person. Gritting her teeth she nodded, "Yes."

"And?"

Rebecca looked at Ayaan and he wanted to know. Therefore, she didn't hide anything from him.

She told him everything about the Punishment Hall Leader. He was someone who was like a father figure to Rebecca; he was kind and caring. He didn't have any family or child so he treated Rebecca like his own child.

Rebecca's life was very peaceful. However, two years before something happened.

Few strange humans appeared on the Demonic Continent. They asked her father, the phoenix king, to submit to them and bid every one of their orders. Essentially, they were asking him to become their dog.

However, her father refused which infuriated those humans. Nonetheless, they didn't do anything and disappeared from the Demonic Palace. However, Rebecca's father wasn't able to calm down himself even after they were gone.

At that time her father was at the peak of the Archmage while the Punishment Hall Leader was at the eight-level Archmage. However, when her father faced those humans the Phoenix King felt as if he was an ant. That's why he realised that this matter won't be solved easily.

Furthermore, the Phoenix King didn't have any information about those humans while his enemies knew everything about him which amplified his unease.

After, sometime later, those humans again came to his father, promising him lots of benefits, making him powerful enough to dominate all four regions. Although there was only a little trace of the Phoenix blood in his body, the phoenix's pride was still present in the Phoenix King. He refused those men again and again.

However, the Phoenix King's heart sank when he saw their malicious expression when they left. He knew that those humans had already lost their patience with him. They won't stop here.

Therefore, for the safety purpose, the Phoenix King gave a long-range teleportation talisman and told her how to use it. At that time Rebecca was just a sixteen-year-old girl. She was a naive little girl and didn't understand her father's intentions.

Though she had seen those humans arguing with her father and trying to entice him with different treasures and offers, she never thought that they would do anything to her father. At that time he was supremely powerful in her eyes. She was a pampered princess of the Demonic Continent after all, without the knowledge of the world.

As Rebecca reached this stage she laughed in a self-mocking manner, her eyes wet. She turned towards Ayaan and asked, "Do you think my father was stupid to not accept their offer?"

Looking into her moist eyes, Ayaan felt pain. He knew she was hiding her pain all this time to not burden him. She felt blessed at the same time little guilt for not understanding her.

"Everyone has their own thinking. Some might think your father was foolish and he should have to think about the big picture while some might think he was worthy of respect. I respect your father for his unyielding character. If it was me I would do the same thing as your father. I would prefer to live in poverty than become someone's dog. Better broken jade than intact tile." said Ayaan, his voice was full of emotion.

He didn't say this because he wanted to comfort Rebecca but he genuinely felt that way. He would never submit to anyone. It was similar to giving his fate in someone else' hand which Ayaan would never do. He had his own thinking and no one can change it.

Hearing Ayaan's words, Rebecca smiled foolishly and there was little pride in her eyes. Her father was the supreme hero in her view and if Ayaan had insulted her father she didn't know what she would do. Her question was rather ruthless, only after asking she realised that.

If Ayaan had answered wrongly no matter what she would never be able to form a good opinion for him so how would she spend her life with him. She regretted after asking this question but Ayaan's reply truly won her heart. Her heart filled with pride when she heard his reply. Only she knew the source of pride: Ayaan or her father.

"What happened after that?" asked Ayaan.

"After my father refused them a few times they became furious. However, for some reason they didn't attack father immediately..."

After that day, the humans didn't return for a few months. Even her father thought that everything was over. He thought that those humans might not be that bad. However, when his guards were down, a loud band resounded in Phoenix City which caught Phoenix King unprepared.

He didn't understand at first but then, his expression changed and he dashed out of the palace and saw a burning scene of the city. There were corpses everywhere. Heads and limbs were scattered all over the place.

Looking in front of him, he saw two people were standing not far away from him. In two of those men, he knew one while he found another one familiar but he couldn't tell. The one he knew was the man who came with a group of people to persuade him.

The phoenix King knew that he wouldn't be able to run away. So he didn't try to escape. He just wanted to buy some time for his daughter.

While at this moment, Rebecca was in her balcony and looking at the horrifying scene in front of her. She was so scared that she didn't even dare to make a sound. She saw her father was standing in between those corpses while two men were standing on the opposite side.

She realised that they were talking but she didn't know what they were speaking due to the large distance; furthermore, she couldn't even see the faces of those two people clearly. However, because she had seen one of those men, she was able to recognize him. He was the same man who had come to offer many offers to her father.

Only now Rebecca realised that things weren't as simple as she thought. However, what could she do? She was only a little high mage at that time even a little guard would be able to slap her to death at that level. Only at that time, she felt how useless she was, she realised how weak she was.

At this moment, the Phoenix king was talking with another man while straight into his eyes.

"Father!"

Suddenly, Rebecca screamed because at this moment another figure had appeared behind her father and he penetrated his back with a dagger, painting his back with blood.

The phoenix king turned and looked at the figure who had attacked him from behind and a shocked look appeared on his face.

Though Rebecca couldn't hear their conversation, she couldn't still see a questioning look on his face, as if asking "Why?"

But the attacker didn't answer him and looked in a specific direction. When the Phoenix King saw where he was looking at his face changed. He also turned in that direction and shouted, "Go!"

After shouting he fell on the ground without any life.

"Father!"

Rebecca knew her father was asking for her to run. But she felt unwilling, hatred and helplessness. However, her face changed when that murderer charged towards her room. She hurriedly took out a teleportation talisman which her father had given her. Only now did she realise that her father already knew that this day would come; so he had already made some preparations.

She looked at her father's murderer with hatred and crushed the talisman and her body disappeared.

"When I opened my eyes I was in the Eastern Continent. At that time, I encountered Daren Millar and saved his life from a magical beast. Therefore, he wanted to repay me, I didn't have anywhere to go, so asked him a place to live. You know everything after that." explained Rebecca.

"So that murderer was Punishment Hall Leader?" Asked Ayaan, his eyes were frighteningly cold.

"Yes, he was the one who killed my father," a teardrop fell from her eyes. Then asked, "Do you think I am useless?"

Ayaan looked at her face and felt pain in his heart. He had never seen her in this state before. There was so much pain in her heart which was eating her from inside. This was the reason why she worked so hard to become strong. It was all for her revenge.

"Silly girl. How could you say that? Do you think my wife would be useless? Even gods would become envious of me when they see you much less these mortal ants. Let me tell you, tonight we are going to break that bastard's ball. I will make his life worse than death." Ayaan patted his chest exaggeratedly.

It was rather funny but the lady still felt a burst of warmth in her heart and threw herself in his arms and started crying even more.

"Alright alright. Don't cry."

"Wuwuwu."

"Your swollen eyes don't look good."

"Wuwuwu."

"Your black makeup is painting my clothes."

"Dislikable!"

"Now, let me check the temperature of your mouth with my mouth."

"..."
