Chapter 13:Daredevils

Name:Heartless Author:My_Day
By the time I finished taking care of the newly arisen vampire, there was only a few hours left until dusk. I wonder if he knew that an emerging vampire was mostly human and so would be vulnerable to other vampires. Although most prefer fresh meat, a hungry one will nevertheless result to cannibalism. The Dean most likely didn't know about that, all he knows is that they're dangerous I suppose.

As the Dean has already covered my afternoon class, there was nothing for me to do but return home. Although being by the bridge at this time at night would be rather troublesome. Though, there is truly nothing to do here.

I took out my phone from the pocket of the lab coat and opened the app yet again. The app had a simple cover of a white circle surrounded by a black backround, the default cover. When you opened it, the numerical keyboard pops up. Typing in a code will of course, teleport you to where you need to be.

In this case, when I typed up the code, it lead me back to the bridge just in time to see a scared looking teenager step onto the bridge with her friends watching her in anticipation.

"Aaaaaaaaaah," she screamed when she saw me appear in the middle of the bridge. The first thing you would notice when you arrive in this particular area was the thick smell of pine, a smell that got more unnoticeable the longer you stayed here. And so by the time you leave the city, many things smell dung or smoke if you were to go to a city.

"May I ask what businesses you have with the forest?" I asked the teenagers.

"I-I-it talks!" one of the teenagers screamed in panic. And like that, they fled leaving behind the single girl they had dared to step into the forest.

"S-spare me oh great ghost!" she finally choked out, "I didn't mean to intrude your territory! I really didn't. I was just getting my friend!"

"I see," I replied.

"Ah, have you seen her?" she asked, worriedly. It seems like she really was a good friend, forgetting her fear for the sake of knowing where her friend was.

"You're friends dead," I told her, "I recommend leaving before you die as well."

"Y-you killed her?"

"I suppose so."

"Are you sure?" she asked desperately. I suppose humans can't digest anything good or bad quickly, now can they?

"Do you ask a killer if they're sure that they killed someone?" I rhetorically asked her.

"C-can I see her body?" she asked quietly, her body shaking. Then she asked as an afterthought, "you wouldn't kill me....right?"

"Perhaps," I answered. I started walking home when I heard the cackle of Melinda, one of the vampires. My mother as my 'father' thinks.
