Chapter 387 - The Unfortunate Night Pt 2

"Mal!" Fergus checked Malgino for injuries but when he found none, he hugged him tightly. "You are alright."

"Yes, I am now. Thank you," Malgino lightly patted Fergus on the back and curiously looked around the room. "Better than alright. Whatever you did, made me what I always wanted."

Fergus stepped back and looked at Malgino, surprised. Despite Malgino's broad smile, Fergus felt something off.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't you feel the power, Gus?" Malgino stared at his hands with wonder and smiled. "I can do anything. Anything, Gus.. Don't you see this energy? This limitless energy."

"I — what?" Fergus was confused. Yes, Malgino was glowing with power but Fergus thought it was because he was healed. Now that Malgino mentioned it, Fergus realized it wasn't the case.

"Gus, look at me. I have finally achieved it. Because of you, Gus. Because of you, I have achieved unlimited power," Malgino grinned at Fergus. "I always wonder how to exceed the limit of wizards. You already were one of a kind, Gus. But I also needed one, so that we can finally save the wizardkind and all magical beings from those filthy humans. And now that I have finally exceeded my limit —"

"Calm down, Mal," Fergus said taken aback by Malgino's excitement and plans. But Fergus knew Malgino always had a habit of going overboard. "You just got stabbed. You need to tell me what happen there, then we can go to Mama, tell her what Ryan did. I think you are just buzzing with energy, right now. Settle down a little then we will talk about this — this plan of yours."

"No." Malgino's smile disappeared as soon as he heard Fergus.

"What do you mean no?"

"We are not going to your mother about Ryan." Malgino looked serious.

"What? Why? Ryan stabbed you. He needs to be sentenced —"

"Your mother is not going to sentence Ryan anything, Gus."

"Why wouldn't she? If you are thinking it's because she is close to Ryan, then you are wrong. My Mama is and always has been unbiased towards her decisions, Mal and —" Fergus tried to explain but Malgino interrupted him again.

"That's the problem. She is unbiased. After your mother knows what I have done, she probably won't take my side and I will not take my chances."

Fergus froze and stared at Malgino, shocked. He was almost afraid to ask but he did.

"What did you do?"

"I took your and your mother's blood for my experiment to recreate your regeneration process," Malgino replied, unafraid.

"You—what?"

"Ryan found out and thought I was trying to become immortal, using the Queen's blood. You don't know but it's actually a crime to take the vampire monarch's blood without her knowledge," Malgino looked calm and fearless as he spoke. "After Ryan discovered about my experiment, he followed me and tried to kill me. No, your mother won't be in my favor when Ryan shows her the pages of my experiment. I have to deal with him myself."

Fergus stared at the ground, he had no idea what was happening. What Malgino did? Why he did it? What did Fergus himself do? What was going to happen now? And most importantly, why did Malgino looked so unbothered about it?

"Mal, we can talk to mother. I am sure she will forgive you."

"You don't understand, do you, Gus?" Malgino smiled but there was no warmth in that smile. "I don't need her forgiveness. I don't need her help to be great, anymore. With this power, you have given me, I can do anything. I can achieve everything I have always dreamed of. I can rule the wizarding world and the humans. We don't have to hide anymore. I can be the founders' successor of power. And all the power in the world."

"Founders' successor?" Fergus blinked.

"Yes, the founders have stored their power in Hogwarts. After they are gone, their successor can unlock the power and access it. Though, the power I am feeling right now, I don't think I need the founders' power anymore," Malgino laughed. "But I have spent too much time and plans on it to not to get it."

"Mal? What are you — you are — you are not sounding like yourself," Fergus said, alarmed.

"You don't believe me?" Malgino said surprised. "Ah, I always wanted to keep you out of it, Gus. Because you were too good for this world. But they were not. The ones the founders considered to be their successors. Helena is a bitch, she never deserved the power just because her mother was a founder. The baron? He was just powerful but mindless. And don't get me started on who Helga chose. I had high hopes from Gryffindor but he considered his sister and a nobody, rather than you. Nobody, I repeat, nobody considered the brightest student of their school. I mean, who would think about a poor farmer boy when you have so many good candidates? Even though that boy had repeatedly proved how skillful he is and how stupid their other chosen ones were. But now I can easily turn the tables. I can take that power from them. I don't even need to ask for it."

"You are talking about my father, Mal," Fergus whispered. He still didn't want to believe Malgino was going to do something bad, intentionally.

"I know and that's my regret, Gus. I was trying so hard to get those chosen ones out of my way but then you told me you were one of them," Malgino sighed. "I didn't know what I would do if they choose you to be their successor but that's when I hear Gryffindor. After you took the blame for me for killing that Slytherin boy; your father, Salazar, and Rowena agreed to take you out of the list. You weren't eligible for that position, anymore. Bloody hypocrites, if you ask me. What do they think that we don't know how many blunders they have done in their lives? That how many people Rowena had killed to save herself or how many humans Salazar had sacrificed for his revenge or how many lives Godric Gryffindor had taken in the name of duels?"

Malgino didn't notice the shocked expression on Fergus as he continued, "They told me all of this like their fondest memories. Like they all did what they had to do, but when it was your turn, suddenly, you are the wrong one. Why, because you said you killed someone accidentally? No, the reality is, they just didn't want to give their powers to someone powerful, who could do the same things they did. That's all. It's not good on their conscience, you know. They need someone noble." Malgino chuckled. "Do not be fooled by their appearance, Gus. They are all rotten to the core. Anyway, after hearing Gryffindor, Salazar, and Rowena's discussion, I realized their stupidity and thought I didn't need you to get out of my way. We could achieve this together. You and I could show them how big of a mistake they did by not choosing us. We will take the power for ourselves."

"No."

"What?" Malgino turned to Fergus.

"I said no, Malgino." Fergus stood straighter as he met Malgino's eyes. At that moment, he knew he had to say something because Malgino was absolutely serious. "I won't be joining you in your ruling the world mission and neither I am going to help you get our teachers' power." Fergus soften his voice and added, "Think before you act on what are you planning. You would not be a hero for doing this and you don't know how much power the four founders possess. You could be killed for what you are aiming at."

"But there won't be four founders, Gus. There will be only two," Malgino smirked.

"What?"

"You don't know what happened after we left, do you, Gus? Rowena Ravenclaw is bedridden and most probably dead by now, because of Helena's betrayal and Salazar Slytherin left Hogwarts just after us. Salazar had a huge fight with Godric and Helga when they found out Salazar had created a secret chamber in school and had put a dangerous creature in it to kill muggle-born students."

"Salazar had created a secret chamber to kill muggle-born students?"

"Not to kill muggle-borns but he had put a basilisk in there to defend the school. Regardless, the other founders think he did that to kill muggle-borns because he killed Emory Astralo," Malgino explained matter of factly.

Fergus, however, felt the ground slipping under him. Her eyes became wild and he clenched his fist as he asked,

"Salazar killed Emory?"

For a moment, Malgino stared at Fergus and didn't reply. This was the first time Fergus felt Malgino hesitating, since he was awake, and it bothered Fergus. Malgino said a lot of awful things in the past few minutes but why was he hesitating now?

"Yes." Malgino finally answered turning away but Fergus knew he was lying. Fergus stepped in front of Malgino and glared at him, which caught Malgino off guard. And just for a split second, Fergus was in his mind. Fergus used Legilimency on Malgino and clearly saw what happened that day. . . with Emory.

"Fergus!" Malgino roared and pushed Fergus away from him as soon as he realized what Fergus was doing.

Malgino was so powerful now that his magic threw Fergus farther than he intended. Fergus hit the far wall and fell from the platform. He looked badly injured but he didn't wait for his regeneration. He stood up, his eyes filled with angry tears and blue flames of magic crackling in his hands.

"You killed Emory! You killed her!"

And then everything turned dark.

Before she got those answers, Chris was again left with that utter darkness and complete silence. But this time she knew she wasn't alone.

"You there?" Chris calmly asked the void.

". . . yes." replied an equally calm voice.

"What happened there?" Chris asked. "Why was I pulled out so suddenly?"

"Because there are no memories after that," answered the void then asked, "But are you ready to meet me? Do you want to meet me?"

"Yes," Chris sighed and added. "Yes, Fergus."

The voice laughed quietly.

"Then follow me, Christina."
