Chapter 595 I Appreciate Having Your Company

"May I ask you my dear sister, Joyce, what have you been doing outside so late in the evening that you just got back now?" asked Jonny.

Jonny asked as he came out of the next door with both hands crossed in front of his chest and looked at Joyce.

"It's none of your business! Don't forget that you are younger than me. Don't report this to daddy and mommy. Do you understand?" Joyce replied. When Joyce saw it was Jonny, she heaved a sigh and felt relieved. She was only afraid to be caught by her parents.

If ever they asked, she would not know how to explain.

"I don't mean to be a bother. I just want to remind you that ladies are better to be reserved," said Jonny. After reminding her sister, Jonny turned back and went back to his own room.

He hurried back since he knew that Simon had been back.

Compared to before, Joyce always came back on time. Though sometimes she would be a little late, it never was later than 12 pm.

"You..." Joyce stared at the door which had just been closed by Jonny. She murmured with anger,"You little kid, what do you know? You have no idea how hard it is to be like me now."

Then, she also sneaked back into her own room.

Meanwhile, in the master bedroom.

Rachel, who was sitting on the bed, could finally lie down at ease. When Joyce went out last night, she actually heard it. But she realized that her daughter had already been 22 years old after all and she would not want to interfere too much with her freedom anymore.

"Now, are you still having a hard time to sleep or are you a little bit relaxed already? If yes, hurry, go to sleep, my dear," Hiram said. He patted her shoulder gently and kissed her on the forehead.

"Hiram, do you know who is the one that Joyce was going to meet?" Rachel asked.

Rachel rested in his arms with many questions on her mind. In the beginning, Rachel only worried about Joyce's safety when she realized that she went out. But now since she had come back, she was curious about who Joyce went out to see, what she had done and where she had gone so late at midnight and came home almost in the morning.

"Honey, don't worry so much. She had grown up enough to know what to do and what not to do," Hiram said in a low voice. He touched her head with his jaw.

"Sure, I know. I just can't help but be concerned about her decisions. Do you think our daughter will get married soon?" Rachel replied. She sighed.

She knew that once her daughter fell in love, it's not far from her to get married. Whenever she thought of that scene, she would always feel very reluctant with it.

Hiram could sense that her mood was quite unusual at that moment. So he quickly sat up, leaned over and looked at her. When he saw her literally break down, he could not help but feel her distress.

"Honey, don't feel sorry for that. Our daughter has accompanied us for over 20 years. It's already time for them to have their own life..

"You're my wife in name only, on paper only. My heart and love will never be yours."

Edward made it clear to Daisy that she was nothing to him. They were both victims of family greed -- the marriage was arranged for them.

Six years passed. She remained quiet, gaining a reputation in the army as a tough-as-nails colonel. When she walked into his life again, Edward fell in love with this woman...

ccount.

"To what? I didn't know that you have come here to talk to my father so soon. How was it? What's my father's opinion? Did he say anything?" Joyce asked. She came up to him and held his arm. Suddenly, she felt so stupid to wait for his call in the room for so long.

She didn't expect that he would come to finally talk to her father. Since she had no idea of it at all, she thought that she shouldn't have waited and acted so silly in her room that morning.

Simon looked at her confusingly. Then, he looked at his hand held by her. He pulled it out, left no trace and said,"Joyce, just to be clear, I came here to have a business talk with Uncle Hiram."

"Business talk? Not the things about us?" Joyce curiously asked. She was stunned when Simon said they were talking about business.

She wondered why didn't he talk to her father about their marriage.

They already had slept together, and they both were old enough to get married. Even though he did not like to get married so early, she thought that he could simply talk to her father about getting engaged first.

Simon frowned and replied,"Joyce, what do you mean the thing about us? What is it? What about us? Or do you mean the thing between you and Grover?"

He didn't forget and even reminded her that Grover was her current boyfriend at that time.

Joyce pushed him away angrily when she saw that he seemed to deny what had happened between the two of them and refuse to acknowledge any of it.

"Simon, what are you saying? What do you mean me and Gover? Are you denying us? How about what happened last night?" Joyce asked angrily.

Simon was even more confused. He pulled her hand and kept asking,"Joyce, what do you mean? What happened last night?"

"Get off me, Simon! Don't touch me! I don't want to see you anymore!"

Joyce suddenly shouted. She turned around, went back to her room, and slammed the door shut without paying attention to Simon anymore.
