Chapter 524 I Mean It Literally

Marcus quickly pulled Rachel into his arms, just as she was about to tumble down the stairs. As soon as Unna saw her father embraced Rachel, she immediately went upstairs enraged.

Rachel patted her chest to calm herself down. She was frightened by Unna's act. 'Did I do something wrong? I have been quite scared a few times these last couple of days. If this continues, I am bound to have a heart attack sooner or later, ' thought Rachel.

The fear after the event made Rachel forget that she was in Marcus' arms to begin with. Without registering what she was doing, she held onto him tightly.

"Unna, do you know that you nearly pushed your auntie down the stairs?!" said Marcus with a strict tone in his voice. 'It's time to teach her a lesson, or she will continue to mistreat innocent people in the future.'

Marcus always believed Unna was clever enough to respect his guest, but it seemed as though he was wrong about her.

"Daddy, I didn't mean to do that. I would never even think about pushing her down the stairs," argued Unna. She looked down the staircase and continued to murmur, "Besides, it's only the second floor. She won't even die if I really tried to push her down."

"Well now, is that right? You completely forgot about the basic courtesy that I've taught you before!" said Marcus furiously. He couldn't believe the words that were coming out of Unna's mouth.

His voice was so loud, in fact, that even Rachel had managed to snap out of it and realized that she was holding onto Marcus. Realizing the awkward posture between her and Marcus, Rachel walked down a step to keep a safe distance from him.

"It's doesn't matter, Marcus. She is good in nature. It will take time for you to teach her. Mr. Ren, don't be so angry at her," said Rachel. Unna was just a child. Although she had intended to push Rachel with the attempt to hurt her, she still believed that Unna was good somehow.

After saying that, Rachel walked downstairs, as it was about time for her to go home.

Marcus looked at Unna and said, "Unna, politeness is the most important quality in our family. You must remember that!"

Rachel wouldn't fall down if it weren't for Unna's impolite manner.

He rushed downstairs to chase after Rachel after addressing Unna's behavior.

"Rachel! Wait!"

Rachel's first intention was to walk home, as it wasn't as far from Marcus' house. Upon hearing Marcus calling after her, she stopped and waited for him.

"I'm really sorry. I realize that I've spoiled Unna too much. It's my fault, so I must apologize to you," said Marcus with a serious look on his face. He felt sorry for all the trouble his daughter had caused.

He looked at the time on his watch and continued, "It's still quite early now. Let me buy you a new phone. It was broken because of my daughter, so I should compensate you for a new one. That's the least I can do."

Rachel shook her head. "Thanks, but it's fine. It's just t

Jean Wen sacrificed herself for family interests. Before her husband divorced her, she made every effort to please him.

"You are inexperienced in bed," he said coldly.

"You! Give that land to my family, or I won't agree to divorce," Jean replied furiously.

"Fine. It is exactly what I am thinking about," he sneered.

p now."

Without waiting for his response, Rachel hung up the phone. She didn't want to hear Marcus' response.

Looking at the string of numbers on the phone, Rachel was lost in thought. Then she transferred the money to Celine, who was in charge of the company's account, and told her it was for the prepaid home renovation fee from Marcus.

At the same time, she noticed Jonny and Joyce's voice outside of her room. She opened the door and saw that the two were playing with Snowball. She instantly smiled.

Snowball was waiting for Rachel outside of the door, so Jonny and Joyce were there too.

"Well, Snowball. I begged grandma to sew clothes for you. I have it in my bag! Let's go and get dressed!" Joyce said to Snowball in an excited tone.

Rachel went downstairs with them, as Joyce took Snowball to get dressed. Jonny was attempting to write something on the table.

"Jonny? I remember that you don't have homework today. What are you writing my boy?" Rachel asked as she moved closer to see what Jonny was doing.

Jonny looked up at her and said, "Mom, what they taught me at school was so boring today. It was a children's song. I want to learn how to write, but my teacher said that it wasn't included in the curriculum for the junior class of kindergarten. So, I've decided that I am going to learn how to write by myself."

Upon hearing this, Rachel thought, 'Shouldn't children in junior classes be playing games?

Why on earth was Jonny bored of school?'

"Jonny, tell mom. Can you sing the children's song that you were supposed to learn today?" asked Rachel, and took Jonny's hand in hers.

"Of course. It's way too easy. I can sing it after listening to it once. Mom… Could I attend the senior class, please? I think it will be a better fit for me. I heard that they teach you how to write, and I want to learn it as fast as I can."

Jonny looked at Rachel sincerely. His dark brown eyes were blinking, much like the stars.
