Chapter 331 Rachel As A Bait

Name:Happy Together Author:Vegetable
Rachel glanced at Marcia who was sitting next to her. Marcia was puffing a smoke from her cigarette. Her eyes were twinkling, excited. She was petting the black cat on her lap.

As the clock ticked, the smell of the blood just grew more pungent. Rachel didn't bother to look at it - she hid behind Hiram the whole time, burying her head in Hiram's arms.

Hiram patted her shoulder, whispering," You're not as brave as you think you are."

Rachel was unable to hold herself back and sneaked a glance at the stage. She saw the underdog beaten to the ground and spitting blood - she went back to hiding behind Hiram again.

Hiram held on to her," You have nothing to be afraid of. I'm here."

"... But they're so cruel, so violent. What if they hurt us?" Rachel looked around, uncertain. Everyone here looked like you couldn't trust them, not one of them. They all looked like the bad guys from the movies.

They stood out from the crowd because she, Hiram, and Ben didn't look like they came from the wrong side of the tracks.

"Honey, don't worry about it. I brought you here because I know you'll be safe, okay?" Hiram assured her.

Rachel sat through the show, still nervous. She let out a sigh of relief when it was finally over.

Although, immediately after, Marcia lead them backstage into a room.

The air smelled of rust, old leather, and aged wood.

When they went inside, Hiram lead Rachel to the leather sofa at the far end of the room.

"Mr. Rong? Mr. Rong! It's such an honor to have you here. I have some home-made wine, would you like to try it? It's a bit strong though and it kind of leaves an aftertaste." Marcia gestured to the attendant to fill both their glasses with wine.

"Marcia, just go straight to the point. What do you need? I don't have time for this. I'm not staying that long." Hiram said rather coldly. He was sitting with his left leg over his right leg, pompous in nature.

Marcia sat across them, the black cat still in her arms. "Hiram, you and I want the same thing - Patrick's head on a stick but I'm can't do anything, he's in business with my father. Believe it or not, my father actually likes Patrick - thinks he's a pretty talented. But we both know that Patrick killed his brother."

In order to survive in their little circle, they had to be callous and

"You're my wife in name only, on paper only. My heart and love will never be yours."

Edward made it clear to Daisy that she was nothing to him. They were both victims of family greed -- the marriage was arranged for them.

Six years passed. She remained quiet, gaining a reputation in the army as a tough-as-nails colonel. When she walked into his life again, Edward fell in love with this woman...

at was frightened by her scream that it jumped out of her arms and was scurrying to hide under the couch.

When Rachel and Hiram stepped out, they were surprised to see that it was actually raining.

Just barely stepped into the rain and Rachel's clothes were already dampened somehow as a reflection of how her heart felt.

Hiram shielded her with his arms as he led her to the car.

Ben followed them to the car, started the engine, and drove away.

Rachel sat in the backseat - her mind was a blank space. Suddenly, she remembered how she had saved Patrick. At that time, her intentions were pure - she just wanted to save him. But now, Marcia was asking to use her as bait to kill him.

"Honey, don't worry. We're not helping Marcia this way. No one can take you away from me. No one, okay? No one!" Hiram assured her, calming her down in the process.

Anything could happen in a situation like that and he wouldn't even risk putting Rachel anywhere near a situation as dangerous as that. That would mean risking Rachel's life and he just wouldn't have that.

In addition to that, it was an ethical dilemma. An ethical issue.

Why should her wife be used as bait in order to kill a man?

Rachel buried her head in chest, remaining silent.

Patrick may have done a lot of horrible things but she didn't have the heart to be involved in murdering him.

The car raced the road as the light rain turned into a heavy rainfall as they headed to H City.

By the time they had arrived at H City, the sky had dimmed completely.
