Chapter 165 - The Auction Begins

Although Arthur was still shocked from unexpectedly encountering another progenitor, the rest of the auction hall was not going to wait for him to recover.

Soon there was an announcement stating that the auction proper was about to begin and all the attendees began making their way to their seats.

Arthur also did the same and went over to his seat in the private booth. He downed a glass of non-alcoholic wine the moment he sat down and pressed his hand on his head, evidently still thinking about the earlier encounter.

Until the loud voice announcing the start of the auction brought him out of his thoughts, that is.

[Welcome ladies and gentlemen! To this year's Auction! You know what we're doing, I know what we're doing. But while I know what we're selling, you don't know just yet! So let's not waste time and get to the first item of the night!!]

The auctioneer was a man wearing an elephant mask. Other than the mask, the only thing the man wore was a well-dressed suit, but for some reason, he looked very attractive.

Noticing this, most of the attendees clicked their tongues in irritation. One even amplified his voice with mana before speaking up.

"Why the fuck is the auctioneer a damn incubus?!"

Many other attendees agreed with his sentiment, nevertheless, the auctioneer paid them no mind and carried on with the auction much to their displeasure.

However before anyone could speak again, they all felt a pressuring gaze on their bodies. It was then they recalled that the hidden organizers of the auction always had some hidden guards that stuck around to make sure no one misbehaved while the auction was still ongoing.

[The first item of the night is a type of medicine. Hailed from the Crurn galaxy, this pill is a medicine that may allow you to jump tiers and defeat those who are above you by at most two stages in strength! Known as the External Reinforcement Pill, this pill increases every single one of your base parameters by 150 %! The duration is 3 minutes! Plenty of time to turn the tables!]

Arthur felt the gauntlets that were under his blazer and shook his head. The effects of the gauntlets were by far better than the pill so he ignored it completely.

[Bidding starts at 4,000 gold coins with increases of more than 100 gold coins at a time!]

Seeing people spend more than 5000 gold coins on the pill made Arthur sigh in exasperation. He picked up the tab beside him and scrolled through the catalog, looking for something that would get his attention.

As a VVIP, he had access to the catalog of items to be auctioned before they were auctioned so he could make a decision to bid on a certain item beforehand.

While scrolling through the catalog, the auction was going on with more rare items being brought out as time went on.

As the auctioneer was shouting out, a legendary realm warrior walked up onto the stage.

The warrior picked up the great sword and turned to the right. A steel dummy rose up as he slashed towards it.

The greatsword went halfway into the dummy.

[As you can see, the sword only traveled halfway into the reinforced steel dummy. And now! Once again with the sword's special skill activated!]

A second dummy rose up as the sword flared with a bright red.

Unknown to those watching, the warrior was wearing an artifact that increased his speed. This offset the decrease in speed that came with a great sword of its size and caliber, making it seem more powerful than it should be.

Raising the sword, the warrior slashed once more.

The sword cleaved easily through the dummy as cheers could be heard from the attendees. While the more powerful ones realized the trick, they all kept it to themselves as they did not wish to become enemies with the auction house.

[The bidding starts at 50000 gold coins with an increment of 10,000 gold coins each time!] The auctioneer shouted out as many began placing outrageous bids on the sword.

"70,000!"

"85,000"

"100,000"

"120,000"

[We have a 120,000 gold coin bid, going once! Going twice!...]

"200,000!"

Just when everyone thought the sword was going to go for 120,000 gold coins, a 200,000 bid came through.

Everyone looked up to see that the person who had bid, was one of the VVIPs.

This was the first item that a VVIP of this auction was bidding on. Unfortunately, they could not see who it was as only the display that was at the top right of the booth's screen indicated that the person in the booth placed a bid.

Meanwhile, the one who placed the bid was busy trying to understand the sword that was annoyed with him for some reason.

[Master is cheating.]

"I'm sorry, what?"

[Master wants to buy another sword.]

Arthur couldn't help but summon Celestia and stare at the sword with a look of pure confusion on his face.

"Since when did buying a new weapon become cheating? You say that like we have some sort of relationship?"

[Master is cheating and is denying it.]

Nevertheless, Celestia kept insisting that he was 'cheating' on her by buying a different weapon.

While this was happening, someone else placed a 250,000 gold coin bid and successfully acquired the sword.

In a realm that could only be described as golden, there was a golden castle that floated around in the void of space.

Inside this castle's throne room, a woman sat sideways on a golden throne with her back resting on one of the armrests and her legs over on the other.

In her hands was a device that many children of the late 20th and early 21st century of a certain blue planet would be quite familiar with.

A game boy.

The person holding it was an extremely good-looking woman possessing beauty enough to dazzle men of all ages. She had a flawless complexion, gray eyes, and blonde hair that spilled over her shoulders.

She wore a pair of black jeans and a similarly colored body-fit shirt underneath a gold drawstring jacket.

This woman was concentrating hard on beating the final level of the game she was playing when an elderly-looking man wearing white robes warped into the room.

He looked at her and sighed before speaking.

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like? Also, return to your original appearance or I'm not speaking to you."

She replied to the man with a tone laced with annoyance at being interrupted. The man, however, did not seem to care as he waved his hand a created a black-colored throne behind him.

He then plopped down on it, however, by the time he had done so, his elderly-looking appearance had changed.

He had changed from an elderly-looking man in white robes to a handsome middle-aged man with long red hair, a neatly trimmed red beard, and glowing red eyes. He also wore silver-red armor with a high collar and a reddish-brown tailcoat.

Noticing the change in his appearance, the woman put down her game boy and turned her gaze towards him.

"You look a lot better this way, why do you keep changing your appearance anyway?"

"Doesn't really matter."

She shrugged and held up the Gameboy in her hand before asking.

"Wanna play?"

"What is that anyway?"

Hearing his question, she nearly dropped the Gameboy in her hands due to shock. Quickly catching it, she asked him with a shaky voice.

"H-how don't you k-know this? This is a game boy and the game is Tetris. They are both from the primordial planet- The original Earth!"

To her answer, the man only held a hand to his chin and stroked his beard for a few moments before replying.

"Earth? Isn't that where Adamas is from?"

"Hmm...Yeah. Speaking of which, what's he up to these days? I haven't spoken to him in millennia."

"Millennia my ass, you've been asleep for billions of years!"

The man shot back with an annoyed tone however the woman only laughed at his agitation before speaking.

"I know, I know. Enough about him, what about you? What brings you here?"

Sighing, the man decided to state the reason he came over in the first place.

"I have so many problems. My daughter split her personality and attacks me the moment she sees me.

There's also a new ancient that I want to hand over to those six old fools but unfortunately, they're nowhere to be found."

Hearing the man's problems, the woman only laughed before casually giving a reply that would make anyone else who heard, reel in shock.

"To think that the great progenitor dragon Aleksas would have so many problems on his plate."
