Chapter 209 - A Fortune Teller

[ Watch your back. I'm coming for you! ]

Renz didn't know who sent the note. But one thing was for sure. This was a threat. Someone was threatening him because the words were written in blood.

Who had the motive to kill him? A competitor or a person he had offended?

Renz had no idea. He was wondering if he should take this seriously and report it to the police or not.

But he didn't want his family to get worried. For some unknown reason, he was receiving death threats before. But it stopped. Now, it was back again.

Renz didn't want to worry about this thing because this might be another empty word, just scaring him. Just like before, nothing happened to him.

Renz just called the security personnel of the building in Star Corp. He asked them to check the CCTV footage in the parking lot to know who left the note in his car.

After he informed the security team about this, Renz went home to prepare for tomorrow's date with Selene.

He was more concerned about his road trip with Selene, rather than this threatening note.

Renz had no idea that someone was watching him in the shadows for the past few days. Someone was monitoring his every movement.

Upon arriving at the front gate of their house, Renz met an old woman. It looked like the old woman was so tired that she couldn't stand anymore.

Renz got out of his car to help the old woman. He approached her right away.

"Granny, are you okay?" Renz asked her worriedly, helping her to stand up.

The old woman gazed up and nodded her head with a smile.

"Yes, dear. But I am thirsty and hungry," the old woman truthfully said to him.

Renz had decided to feed her. He brought her to his car. They left to find a restaurant nearby.

Grandpa Ivan didn't fond of letting a stranger come into the house so Renz chose to go to the restaurant to give the old woman a food to eat.

When they entered the restaurant, Renz immediately ordered food for the old woman. Of course, he consulted her what food she wanted to eat.

While waiting for their order to arrive, the old woman opened a conversation with him.

"Young man, you are nice and very kind. You helped this poor old woman even though you don't know me at all. I am so touched by your kindness."

"Don't worry, young man. You will be blessed more because of your good deeds," the old woman added.

Renz just smiled at her tenderly. "Thank you, granny. I just can't help it. I just missed my grandmother after seeing you. Besides, my conscience will not let me sleep if I will just ignore you."

The old woman nodded her head as she reached out to touch Renz's hand that was placed on the table. She patted the back of his palm.

"Young man, do you believe in fortune-telling? Do you want me to read your future?"

Renz was taken aback when he heard that. He didn't know what to say. He didn't want to offend or hurt her feelings.

"I'm sorry for asking you this. Maybe you are now thinking that I am strange and a scam. People look down on a person like me."

"I know this is somehow unbelievable. But I can read your future or even your past. Would you like me to read yours? This is the only thing I can offer to repay you for helping me tonight."

"Granny, you don't have to repay me. It's alright. But sure… I can let you read my future for me," Renz politely said to her.

He didn't believe in this but he wanted to fulfill the old woman's request. She said this was the only thing she could do for him.

The old woman smiled since Renz agreed.

"Give me your hand…" she said.

Renz opened his palm, extending his arm in front of her. The old woman stared down, looking intently at his palm.

She remained silent for several seconds just assessing Renz's palm. After a while, the old woman spoke up while Renz was all ears on her.

"Young man… a tragedy happened in your past. There was betrayal! A woman sacrificed her life for you. And You regretted losing her."

Renz just looked at her confusedly. 'Tragedy? A woman sacrifice her life for me? I didn't encounter any of that.'

"Then you have given a second chance. Young man, this time you should treasure and cherish that woman. Don't lose her this time, or else you will regret everything again."

Renz was at a loss for words. He didn't know who was the girl she was referring to. Was it Selene?

He didn't completely believe her words but his heart was acting strangely. It was clenching inside his chest and he felt a sudden surge of sadness.

'Why do I feel like this? Am I bothered by her words. But I know nothing like that happened in my past. I think she read my past and future wrong.'

Renz still had doubts. He found her words a little bit absurd. But he didn't show it to her.

"Thank you, granny. I will make sure not to waste this second chance," Renz said, smiling at her.

The old woman tightened her grip on Renz's hand.

"Make sure to protect her! You should be good to her."

Renz nodded his head with a smile. "Yes, Granny. I will."

The old woman just finished reading his palm when the food arrived.

"Let's eat first, granny. You can eat everything you want here. Just tell me, okay?"

The old woman started digging in. She really looked hungry. Renz just watched her in amusement.

While he was observing her, Renz was reminded of Grandma Elysa. If he was missing Grandma Elysa like this, how much more Selene?

He knew Selene was trying her best to look okay even though she was filled with sorrow. He hoped he could help her forget about her sorrow even just for short period.

He wanted to see her smile brightly again just like how she used to be.

The old woman noticed that Renz's mind was wandering somewhere.

"Young man… are you thinking about someone?" The old woman asked him curiously.

"I'm thinking about my fiancee."

The old woman's eyes lit up upon hearing that.

"Really? Why?"

"We have a date tomorrow. I want to cheer her up. She is sad lately because her grandmother passed away."

The old woman fell silent for a moment. Then she saw the gentle smile on Renz's face. She could tell that he genuinely cared so much about his fiancee.

"I hope you will succeed in making her happy."

"Thank you, granny."

Renz and the old woman continued eating. After they were done, Renz asked her where she was residing.

The old woman gave him her address. It turned out she was living on the same street. Renz dropped her at the front of a small bungalow house.

Renz was about to leave when the old woman grabbed his elbow. He stopped and turned around to face her.

"Young man,  I know you don't believe my words a while ago. To see is to believe. If you want to know what really happened, you can drink this. This will give you the answer," the old woman said to him meaningfully, handing him a small tube-like bottle containing a green liquid substance.

"Don't worry. This is not a poison. Nothing bad will happen to you once you drink this," the old woman added.

Renz didn't know if he should believe her or not. He just accepted the bottle containing a potion.

Renz politely said goodbye to the old woman. He was still thinking about the words she said to him. He couldn't believe it. And he had no plan of drinking this potion.

Meanwhile, Zaki met the other elite grim reapers who were assigned to capture the Dark Soul. Only Azrael was not around.

One grim reaper asked his fellow about Azrael. They had no idea what happened to him. They hadn't seen him for a while.

Zaki was not even mentioning him. They were surprised when their Supreme Leader suddenly showed up in front of them.

"You should watch and stay with these three people if you really want to catch the dark soul."

Zaki showed them the faces of the three people using the magical crystal orb. The three people were Renz, Micaela, and Selene.

"Start following them tomorrow," Zaki added.

The elite grim reapers were divided into three groups. They would alternately watch those three people. After giving his orders, Zaki dismissed them.

But he let one grim reaper stay behind. He had a special task for him.

"Gray, I will leave this important task to you. I hope you will not disappoint me. We should put things back to their proper places."

The grim reaper, who was called Gray, bowed his head and kneeled before him.

"Supreme Leader, I will do my best!"
