Chapter 188 - Confusion

After eating his dinner and taking a warm bath, Selene tucked Sach in his bed. Fortunately, she still had those pajamas when she was little. She let Sach use those clothes in the meantime.

'I have to go shopping tomorrow and buy him proper clothes that match his gender and size,' Selene thought to herself.

The young boy drifted off to sleep right away. It looked like he was exhausted. He might be wandering around the whole day without a clear destination in mind.

She was glad that Eros and Azrael saw him outside the gate. Some bad guys might have taken advantage of this boy if they saw him wandering in the streets.

He also ran away from the orphanage. It was dangerous for the boy to sleep in the streets. For now, she would take care of him, providing him food and shelter.

Who knows that taking care of this child might help her heal the pain of losing her grandmother?

"Good night, Baby Sach," Selene softly mumbled before leaving his room.

Azrael and Eros were still in the living room. She asked them to wait downstairs as she also needed to discuss something with them.

After talking with Azrael and Selene, Eros would be sleeping with Sach tonight. He would watch over the boy as per the instruction of Selene.

After a few minutes, Selene joined them in the living area. Eros and Azrael waited for her to speak up first. They wondered what Selene wanted to talk about.

"Azrael, Eros… I am dying to ask you this. Have you seen my grandmother's soul during her last moments?"

Azrael and Eros were caught off guard by this question. How could they answer that if they knew that Selene would be sad? They couldn't explain the phenomenon that happened that day.

"Did you see her? What did she do? Did she see me crying? Was she guided to the Netherworld right away by your fellow grim reaper?" Selene threw them lots of questions.

Azrael looked at Eros, urging him to answer Selene. But Eros didn't want to lie. As angels, they were not supposed to lie.

But how could he break Selene's heart again by saying her grandma's soul was missing.

They didn't know if she reached the Netherworld or not. Did she end up wandering around the land of the lost souls?

"Selene, your grandmother was at peace when she passed away. But I believe she saw you cry at that time. And that made her worry and reluctant to leave you," Eros answered her.

He was not lying. He just put himself into Grandma Elysa's shoes, assessing what she would feel at those moments.

"I'm sorry Selene. But I am not allowed to disclose more information about your grandmother. It is our rule," Azrael spoke up, hoping that Selene would not ask them further.

Selene gave them a grateful look.

"I'm sorry. I just missed her. I hope she reached her final destination and is now at peace. The autopsy report said she died because of her illness. Her body and organs already gave up, including her heart."

Eros and Azrael heaved a deep sigh. They didn't know how they would console her.

"By the way, there is something you need to know about Micaela," Azrael said, changing the topic.

Selene looked at him with her questioning gaze.

"What is it?" Selene became interested in this topic.

Eros gave Azrael a warning look. He didn't know whether Azrael would tell Selene about Micaela and Renz.

"I think she intentionally approached you from the beginning. Beware of her, Selene. She might be plotting something."

"Plotting something? Approached me intentionally. But why?"

"I'm not sure as well. I was doing my mission when I happened to see her in the cemetery. Her parents are dead. And I overheard her when she was talking in front of her parents' grave."

"You should look into her life story. She said she was getting justice for them, avenging their deaths. You should investigate if your family or Renz's family had something to do with her parents' death."

"Carla and Justine Go, those are the names of her parents. Selene, we are not allowed to meddle with the human conflict. This is the first and the last time I am telling you this information."

"I can't continue spying on her. This is concerning humans so humans should be the ones figuring this out without our intervention."

Selene nodded her head. "Thank you, Azrael. This is already a big help for me. I will look into this and investigate what happened to her parents. Micaela often avoids talking about her parents so I didn't know much about them."

"Alright. Just be careful," Azrael said, ending the topic.

At least, he could talk a lot if he was explaining things to Selene. Or maybe, he just wanted to divert Selene's attention away from her grandmother's soul.

Eros, on the other hand, felt relieved. Azrael never mentioned Renz and Micaela. But one realization came to his mind.

'What if stealing Renz from Selene is also part of Micaela's scheme? Is Renz really betraying Selene or is he being played and manipulated by Micaela to hurt Selene?'

Eros glanced at Selene with complicated emotions on his face.

'Should I continue fulfilling my mission? Is this the reason why mother angel, Sienna, sent me to help Selene? She wanted Selene and Renz to end up together to avoid the misfortunes from happening again?'

Eros was having conflicting thoughts right now. 'Is this the only way I can make Selene happy?'

"I should leave now." Azrael stood up, saying goodbye to Selene and Eros.

Eros sent him off outside while Selene went back to her room.

When Azrael left, Eros kept on thinking about his mission. When he learned about Renz and Micaela seeing each other behind Selene's back, Eros thought of not completing his mission.

But now, he was so confused about what he should do. If he stopped helping Selene in winning Renz's heart, it seemed like he was letting Micaela win.

Eros was still lost in his thoughts when he suddenly heard someone calling his name.

"Eros…"
