Chapter 173 - Don't Leave Me

Eros watched Selene's back as she waited for the entrance door to open. He wanted to hold her and stop her but he couldn't.

'I think I am going insane already. I am not supposed to think about these things.' Eros clenched his fists.

'Will Selene be okay? I have to confront Renz after this wedding. I have to warn him not to hurt Selene again.'

After a few seconds, the church door was opened. It was now Selene's turn to walk down the aisle.

Grandma Elysa was waiting for her inside. She would escort Selene going to Renz. Selene took a deep breath, mustering up her courage.

Seeing her grandmother gave her strength to carry on. She finally took a step as she entered the church.

Everyone gasped in amazement and admiration after seeing Selene. She was very beautiful and stunning in her white wedding dress.

Grandma Elysa flashed her gentle smile as Selene took her hand. She hugged her granddaughter first before they started walking.

Renz looked at Selene with affection in his eyes. He felt at ease now. His heart was overjoyed seeing his beautiful bride.

But he noticed something when their eyes met. Selene was not smiling at him. Instead of joy, he could see sadness in her brown eyes.

Renz's heart clenched inside his chest seeing the sadness in those beautiful eyes.

'Is she not happy? Or I am just imagining things.' Renz pondered to himself.

Renz pushed the negative thought to the back of his mind. He needed to focus and not be distracted by those troubling thoughts.

The important thing right now was he and Selene would unite in marriage. Selene would become his wife.

He wondered when he started hoping for this to happen. He just woke up one day and finally saw Selene as a woman, not as a sister or a childhood friend.

Before he was not sure about his feelings for her, but the moment he realized that his feelings already changed into something more, Renz fucked up and got involved with another woman.

Now he was afraid… afraid that Selene would find out and hate him. He became selfish and a coward. Instead of telling her the truth before their wedding, Renz had decided to hide it from her.

Renz committed another fatal mistake that would ruin his blooming relationship with Selene.

'Selene, I have wronged you. But I promise to make it up to you as my wife. I hope you will feel my sincerity. I hope you can forgive me once you learn the truth.'

Renz had sworn to himself that after this wedding he would try his best to correct his mistakes. He would make Selene happy. He would take care of her and fulfill his promise to Grandma Elysa.

After the long wait, Grandma Elysa and Selene reached the end of the aisle and stopped in front of Renz and Arthur.

Renz's parents were also there standing beside him. They exchanged greetings with Grandma Elysa. They hugged Selene, their daughter-in-law.

"Son, Selene, Be happy always. Love one another until the very end," Renz's mother said to them.

"Congratulations to both of you!" Renz's father simply said while patting Renz's and Selene's shoulders.

The bride and the groom thanked them with a smile.

"Renz, I'm leaving my beloved granddaughter in your care. Please cherish and protect her." Grandma Elysa said with her weak voice.

"Yes, Grandma. I will."

After responding to Grandma Elysa, Renz extended his hand to Selene, smiling at her tenderly.

Selene watched Renz with complicated emotions on her face. It took her five seconds before accepting his hand.

Renz gently squeezed her hand before moving closer to her. They were now walking towards the altar where the priest was waiting for them.

'Sigh. There is no turning back now,' Selene mumbled to herself. She didn't know what to feel anymore.

'Is it really okay to do this? Will I be fine? Will I become happy? What if our marriage ends up into a broken marriage later on? Can I handle it?'

Selene was still asking herself. Her heart was not at ease. She was afraid of those uncertainties.

Selene paused on her track and turned around to see her grandmother one last time before resuming this marriage.

Selene saw her grandmother smiling happily at her. She was crying as she watched Selene.

Then she saw her grandmother's lips move. She was telling her something from that distance. Selene smiled as she understood her message.

"Thank you, Selene, for fulfilling my last wish. I love you so much, my princess."

Selene smiled back at her grandmother. Seeing that smile on her grandmother's face, she thought this was all worth it.

Selene was about to turn around when suddenly Grandma Elysa collapsed.

"Grandma!!!" Selene shouted. She let go of Renz's hand and ran towards her grandmother.

Everyone who saw what happened stood up, looking shocked. Renz also ran towards Grandma Elysa.

Eros and Azrael were utterly astounded seeing Grandma Elysa fall on the floor. The other guests didn't know what to do as they watched Selene drop on the floor and gathered her grandmother in her arms.

Selene's heart was pounding so hard from fear and nervousness.

"Grandma, Grandma, can you hear me? Are you okay? Grandma, please wake up." Selene was tapping her grandma, trying to wake her up but she was no longer responding.

"Call some medics now! We need to bring Elysa to the hospital!" Renz's grandfather shouted, giving some orders.

"Grandma, please! Don't scare me like this! Grandma, wake up!" Selene started to panic. Her tears flowed down from the corner of her eyes.

She was hugging Grandma Elysa in her arms. "Grandma, Please wake up! Wake up! Don't leave me!"

"Selene, calm down. Let's bring her to the hospital first."

Selene couldn't think clearly at times like this. Renz tried to check Grandma Elysa's pulse and breathing.

His eyes widened in horror when he didn't sense her pulse. Grandma Elysa also stopped breathing.

"Selene, put her down. I need to do CPR."

Without further ado, Renz applied CPR on Grandma Elysa. Selene continued crying on the side as she watched Renz giving CPR to her grandmother.

'Grandma, please wake up! Don't leave me yet! Don't leave me!'
