"They've got him," Jordan told Lana as he threw his phone on the soft comforter.

"Oh my gosh..really? Did they really catch him?" She was so overwhelmed with relief, she cried weakly in his arms, but her own arm was still tight about his neck.

"Yes, baby. He's under police custody as we speak." They were sitting in bed, watching some series on Netflix, waiting for any bit of news. Jordan ran his hands up and down her back, offering comfort. "It's okay baby. You're safe now."

When she had calmed down he decided to deliver the other half of the news. "I have to go down to the station; because Alexander says that he won't give his full statement until he sees me first."

"Why?"

"I don't know baby but I'm going to go and find out." He kissed her forehead. "I'm jumping into the shower and then I have to get out of here."

"Please be careful." She implored as she reached out and squeezed his arm.

"I"ll be fine. Barry and Ryan will be with me."

"I think I'm going to go over to my Mom's hotel room and check on her. She risked her life trying to save us so I'm worried about her too. You know that anything can happen when it comes to Alexander." She bit on her lip nervously.

"You shouldn't be walking around baby. Why don't you wait for me to get back, then we can go together?" He looked at her with concern and anxiety.

"Your father is locked up so I think I'm out of harm's way now." She pushed herself up and leaned her back against the headboard.

"I know but we have to still take precautions." He sat down again, and the fear flooded back upon him with new force.

"I'm feeling much better babe. Please stop worrying already." She took his hands in hers and kissed him.

"I'll drop you off-with your bodyguards-no arguments."

"Fine." Her eyes rolled upwards.

He was expecting Jones to be the first to call him and was becoming a bit anxious; when he still hadn't heard from him.

"I'm worried about Jones though. I haven't heard anything from him-and we're supposed to leave this safe-house tomorrow morning." His wife did not fail to notice that he was anxious, and a shade of uneasiness darkened his brow.

"He's probably busy, especially with everything going on." She said in an effort to console him.

"No..its unlike him not to touch base." He drew a rueful face.

"I'm sure he's fine babe. It's Jones that we're talking about." She smiled and tried to allay his fears.

"Maybe you're right-but something doesn't feel right." The sense of foreboding was not as definite, but it was stuck with him; he could not shake it off.

"I'll get a nurse to come and help you get dressed." He leaned forward and planted another kiss on her lips.

"Thanks, babe."

Jordan's mind went back to the last conversation he had with Jones and his heart was seized by fear all over again. What if something had happened to him? What if Jones was in trouble and he needed him? What if he was lying hurt somewhere and no one could help him? He had tried his number countless times while he was in the shower and it went straight to voicemail.

His army of bodyguards managed to clear the way for him as they marched rapidly into the police headquarters. Jordan and his crew were led down a long corridor and into a cramped corner office, that had piles of paperwork stacked on a corner table.

"Good day Mr. Carter. My name is Dylan Jackson, I'm the chief investigating officer in charge of your case." The detective extended his hand as he introduced himself. "Please take a seat."

"Thank you detective," Jordan replied. "This is my lawyer Barry and my agent, Ryan." He indicated as the two stepped forward and shook hands with the officer.

"Your father is adamant to see you. Do you have any idea what it's about?" Dylan asked.

"Probably wants to make one last, desperate plea for my kidney I guess." He leaned back in his chair and surveyed the baffled man bemusedly. "Barry please explain to Mr Jackson."

Barry delved right in and gave Dylan a brief summary of events that led them to where they were today. When he had ceased to speak the officer sat as one stunned, trying to realize what he had said to him.

"So he wanted to kill you because of your kidney???"

"In a nutshell-yes."

"All this time I thought you had done something and he was seeking revenge." Replied Dylan with a low whistle.

"It's kind of hard to believe-I know." Jordan said as he drew his lips in a thin line.

"So are you ready to go and see him?" He asked as he rose to his feet.

"I'll never be ready for that Detective but lead the way. "

Lana shuffled through the hotel lobby and pressed the button that led them up to the eighth floor. The receptionist had told her that they hadn't seen Linda Logan since yesterday and there was a DO NOT DISTURB sign hanging outside her door; so housekeeping had stayed away until further notice. Although they were kind enough to give her a spare key; since she seemed really concerned about her mom.

Lana was standing outside Room 808 but her custodians told her to wait outside while they checked if the room was secure first. They took longer than expected and she was about to burst in but the guards that remained behind with her prevented it.

"Why are they taking so long??" She complained, burning with impatience as with a fever, she endured a long minute's wait before she surged forward and pushed the door open forcefully.

"Mrs Carter you can't be in here!" One of her custodians strode forward and tried blocking her view of the bed. She could make out that someone was lying under the covers but the guard kept pushing her back gently.

"Is that my Mom??" her voice quivered.

"Mrs Carter, can you please step outside and wait for the police to arrive? I can't let you see-"

"Let me see her?" She whimpered and shivered visibly. "Please??! Let me see her?" Her eyes flooded with tears that threatened to spill over.

"Mrs Carter you can't-" She dodged under his arm and dashed away before he could stop her.

She stopped abruptly as she got to the bedside and backed away suddenly-as if burnt. She practically ran backwards until her feet hit the wall. She did not scream, but her face grew white and her eyes horror-stricken.

"No-no-no-noooo!" She let out a high-pitched shriek and collapsed onto the carpet covering her ears but unable to take her eyes off the motionless figure. "Noooo! Nooooo! Noo!" Then, overcome by a hysterical fit of despair, she burst into sobs.
