Chapter 69:The Verdict

Lana didn't know what to do with herself. She had gone shopping, spent some time at the beach and went back to her room and ordered room service again, but it was no fun to eat on your own, she had decided. When she was walking through the hotel lobby she heard the girls at the front desk talking about Jordan.

"I heard he's staying at this hotel! I can't wait to see him!" They squealed in delight.

"He's so hot! Bet he looks better in person!"

"It's a pity he's married though..but I definitely wouldn't mind.." They giggled.

She didn't want to eavesdrop any further in case they noticed that her steps had slowed and almost came to a halt. They were probably mistaken-there was no way Jordan could be here. What would he be doing here in the first place? He was probably cooped up in his room with Lexie or some other groupie; she tortured herself once again.

She rushed into the elevator and pressed her floor number multiple times. It was hard work being married to a superstar that almost every female lusted after. Why did she even think she had a chance? She felt so foolish and kept berating herself for holding onto hope. Someone like Jordan Carter could never love a girl like her-she was probably way below his standards anyway.

Lana unlocked her door and threw herself on the double bed as soon as she walked into the room. She fell into a deep slumber and it was almost sundown when she woke up. Her stomach rumbled in protest and she rubbed it gently in a circular motion.

"Don't worry baby. Mommy is going to feed you just now. We need to take a bath first, then we're going to treat ourselves with Daddy's millions. No more sitting around and feeling sorry for ourselves okay? Would you like that?" she bent her head lower as if listening for a response. "I thought you would. Clever baby." She patted her mid-section softly and set off to soak herself in a warm scented bath.

After her bath, she carefully selected an outfit. All her clothes were strewn on the bed and she was having a hard time deciding what to wear. If she was going to paint the town red then she was going to look the part. Michelle had taught her well and she was going to put those skills to good use tonight. She heard about the clubs that were scattered around the resorts and she planned to comb through them one by one...she had time after all..lots of it.

She finally decided on a plum satin mini dress, low comfortable heels, minimum makeup, and accessories. She wished she had dragged Lisa and Olivia with her and was about to call them when there was a knock at the door.

"Going somewhere?!" Her two best friends burst through her hotel room and embraced her.

'Hey! What a nice surprise. What are you doing here?!" In the burst of merriment, her pent feelings found their vent. She sobbed weakly in their arms, but her own arms were still tight about their necks. "I'm so sorry for running and leaving you behind."

"It's okay hun. No need to cry." Olivia handed her a tissue.

"Plus you're ruining your make-up. Now I have to do it all again. Sit." Lisa grabbed her arm and led her to sit on the bed.

"Thank you. Not the drink I would have wanted but it will do." Lana tipped the glass back and drank greedily, wondering why she was so thirsty all of a sudden.

"So what are you two doing here? How did you find me?"Lana asked once again.

"We have our ways.." Liv smirked deprecatingly.

"Jordan is really worried about you-you know..?"

Lana did not speak but made an inarticulate noise between a grunt and a sniff.

"Seriously Lans. He's about to lose his mind." Liv pouted.

"Maybe he forgot to mention that I caught him locking lips with his ex-flame!" She spat out.

"Let's not be hasty, shall we? You need to listen to this.." Lisa picked up the remote and scrolled through radio channels until she got to Rock FM.

"If you're just joining us this is Rock FM the station of the nation..your I'm in the studio chilling with your co-hostess with the mostess DJ Lexie! She's just dropped a bomb that she's leaving the station for reasons only known to her. Maybe she's ready to share them with us? Over to you Lex."

"I'm announcing my resignation from radio effective immediately..and before I go I'd like to make a public apology to uhm- Jordan Carter-"

"What?! Back it up a bit?! You mean like the Jordan Carter? Like JC? Like America's superstar bad boy Jordan "freakin' Carter?!!"

"Ye-yes."

"Gosh Lex what did you do to him?!"

"I-I...I made moves on him and he turned me down... but I-uhm- kept on persisting....although I know he's married-"

"For Reals? The whole universe knows that Lexie! He's always flashing his ring and talks about his wife every chance he gets. Look we know he's every girl's wet dream but no means no! And he's taken! What happened to boundaries Lexie!?"

"I know..I know...JC I'm sorry for forcing myself onto you like some desperate...and I'm sorry that your wife had to witness me throwing myself all over you. I am a homewrecker and am ashamed of myself...I'm really, really sorry JC.." Lexie sniveled, "Since today is my last day on air I'd like to apologize to all my fans and management for disappointing you. I'm sorry..."

Lisa pressed the off button and looked at Lana expectantly.

"He made her say it-he probably got her to-"

"Lana please...stop grasping at straws again!" Lisa reprimanded.

"Why would the best female DJ like ever-risk her reputation and career doing what she just did? It's true Lana! She's a skank and a homewrecker-" Liv threw in her two cents.

"Anyway, how did you find me? Did he send you here?" She asked.

"No. We knew that you'd probably want to get away so we checked the airports."

"Does-uhm-Carter know that I-uhm-"

"You ran away from him so what's it to you?" Liv's answer was evasive and Lana noticed the evasion.

"Exactly!" Lisa squeaked as she jumped forward. "Now sit still and let me do your face. Where were you heading anyway?"

"Are you two hiding something from me?" She eyed them suspiciously.

"Noo..why would you think that?" Lisa spread out the make-up brushes on the towel that was on the bed. "Anyway, you didn't answer our question? Are 'we' going out tonight? I thought maybe we could watch a movie..?"

"Snuggle on the couch. Order room service.." Liv added. "Reminisce on the good times.."

"No pity party tonight ladies. I'm all cried out as far as Jordan Carter is concerned." She clicked her teeth shut.

"Hmmm..." Liv was not buying her story.

"You sound very convincing sweetie..just keep at it. Practice makes perfect." Lisa pulled out a facial tissue from the packet and wiped the make-up off Lana's face.

"You know what? I just don't know what or who to believe anymore..this is all so confusing.." she sighed deeply. "I think I just need time and space-"

"Anyway..where are we heading tonight? I could really use a night out you know?" Liv was relieved that they had managed to distract their friend.

"Club Ice or Club Castle? I don't know..we will see where the night leads us.." Lana replied. "By the way, I'm really glad you girls are here."

"We're happy to join you on this adventure too!" Lisa hugged her.

"Okay. I'm all set. Let's rock and roll!" Lana threw her fist in the air.
