Chapter 67:Just Like A Pill

"What do you mean she's not here?! She has to be! I've checked everywhere!" Jordan stormed through Kyle's house and was searching every nook and cranny looking for his lost love.

"What did you do to her dude? Why did she just take off?" Kyle folded his arms and looked at his friend. "You do realize it's like 3 am right?" he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"I know..I'm sorry Ky. I just need to find her-"

"Let's go to the kitchen. I think you could use an espresso." Kyle led the way and they sat around the island as they waited for the coffee machine to heat up.

Jones explained to Kyle what happened because Jordan didn't have the heart to do it again. Kyle listened and sympathized with his friend.

"Obviously she's still upset and doesn't want to be found. Just give her time maybe?" Kyle suggested.

"I can't! I need to know she's safe." He replied as he clutched his cup.

"You've got a valid point...I don't know what I'd do if Maya ever-I don't want to think about it."

"Why don't we ask AK? She probably knows-" Jordan's eyes lit up suddenly.

"She's asleep..but since this is an emergency let me wake her." Kyle slid off the high stool.

"What's going on guys?" Maya shuffled into the kitchen and was half-asleep.

"Babe..I was just about to come and wake you." Kyle went over to her and planted a kiss on her temple.

"Is everything okay..I woke up and you weren't there soo.." she looked around, "Hey Jones..Jordan..is everything okay?"

"Lana is gone-"

"Oh no! What did you do to her Jordan Carter?!?" She pushed against his chest with both hands. "She told you didn't she?" Maya narrowed her eyes at him as she tightened her silk robe.

"Told me what?" Jordan asked puzzled.

"Can we sidebar for a moment?" She tilted her head to the sitting room.

"Sure.."Excuse us please?" He followed her to the living room and she switched on the lights before sitting next to him.

"What's going on Jordan? Why did she leave?" she sighed heavily as she plonked herself on the soft couch.

"You said she told me..?"

"You weren't supposed to find out like this...but-Lana is pregnant.."

"What?!" he cried out in genuine surprise.

"So you really didn't know?!"

"She didn't know how to tell you. She had asked me to talk to you and see what your thoughts were.. but I'm sorry I didn't get a chance. I've been so busy and-"

"How far along is she?" He had, in truth, the dazed manner of one stupefied by some powerful narcotic.

"Just a little under ten weeks I think.."

"I wish I had known. You should have told me AK."

"I know and I'm sorry...really and truly. I thought she would have told you-and-you being you must have done something to scare her off-"

"I know I messed up before...and I'm not sure about how I feel about being a father..but I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I don't care if a baby has been thrown in the mix but I'm sure we can make it work AK." Jordan said with conviction.

"Then we need to find her and you can tell her exactly what you just told me."

"I don't even know where to start..I've checked everywhere-she even ran off and left Lisa and Liv at the house. They're also clueless-"

"The airport! We can check the airport." Maya started pacing the room. "She once mentioned running before you did...so guess she beat you to it..." she shrugged.

"Thanks for your help AK but I've got to go-" Jordan rose to his feet.

"No wait..Why don't we all call the main airports and bus stations? We can work faster that way?" They walked back to the kitchen and filled in Jones and Kyle on everything.

They finally found a lead at LaGuardia and Jordan had renewed hope. "At least now we know where she is but how do we find her once we get there?"

"We?!" Everyone chorused.

"We're in this together guys. You can't let me go all that way on my own-that's what friends are for right?"

"I think we could use a holiday," Kyle agreed, "what do you say, babe?"

"I'm in!" Maya chimed and so did Jones. "I'll send a text to Lisa and Liv to meet us back here once they wake up."

"Oh yeah!" Jordan slapped his forehead, "I had almost forgotten about those two."

"Uhmm guys.." Jones cleared his throat. "We seem to be forgetting something..where are we going to find her once we get there? We don't want to go there and be blindsided when she takes off again."

"What we can do to pinpoint her exact location is to trace her credit card-assuming that she used it?" Kyle suggested.

"Oh, she used it! She hates carrying around cash." Jordan stated matter-of-factly. "If that doesn't work we can always trace her movements from the airport and work our way from there."

"I'm sure we will find her. You can call the bank first thing in the morning or maybe block her card-" Jones suggested.

"No, I can't do that. I don't want her to be stranded in a foreign land. That would just be cruel."

"You're right. She will probably be going on a shopping spree tomorrow; because my guess is she took off with no luggage," Maya added.

"Then let's get some sleep and re-group at first light. You guys know your way to the guest wing right? If you need anything just give me a shout." Kyle put the cups in the sink as they all called it a night.

"Good night and thanks, guys. You're the best."

Jordan couldn't wait to get going. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough for him. He was both anxious and excited but more elated than anything. Somehow he would convince her that they still had a fighting chance-that they belonged together. Then he would make his move and seal the deal once and for all.
