Chapter 19:Drawbacks

"I still can't decide what to wear!" Olivia said, exasperated. She had gone through the closet about a million times and was even more confused than before.

"Don't worry, Michelle will be here soon," Lana looked up from her phone.

"So has your Mom calmed down yet?" Lisa asked as she plopped herself onto the bed.

"No, she's freaking out for days!" Lana frowned. Ever since they announced their marriage her mother was inundated with calls and was being hounded by the media again. Mrs Logan was upset that Lana got married without telling her and felt like Lana was way in over her head. She had even demanded Lana catch the first flight home but Lana was adamant about staying with Jordan. For now, they had agreed to disagree.

"Hellooo there Mrs Carter!!" Amelia barged into the room and launched herself onto Lana, causing them to fall off the bed.

"You could have just said hie like a normal person," Lana giggled as Amelia straddled her.

"I leave you alone for a couple of days and you come back as Jordan Carter's freakin' wife!" Amelia pretended to strangle her, "Oh-my-days! Will you look at the size of the rock on that ring???!"

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Lana twisted the ring on her finger.

"Thanks for the heads up by the way," Amy scowled.

"Sorry Amy, it just happened," Lana said, out of breath, "Let me up!" she protested.

"Such things just don't happen-oh hey there Lisa! Liv!" she hugged them.

"Right, everyone in the sitting room now, we don't have much time," Michelle bust open the door and commanded everyone to start getting ready, "Lana you're up first, Jordan will be coming for you soon."

"Oh, I thought I was going with everyone else.." Lana said.

"Not a chance, you're Jordan's wife now so it's a whole new ball game. Congratulations by the way," Michelle smiled, "you need to get your make up done so you can stay in here. Let me just grab my bag, I'll be right back."

Michelle had chosen a Chanel emerald embroidered fishtail maxi dress. It accentuated all Lana's curves, a low-cut back exposed her smooth tanned skin; fashioned from a luxurious velvet and lace material with hand embroidery all over the dress. The fishtail design and mermaid hem created a perfect silhouette. Her hair was swept up into a neat bubble-bun and a smokey-eye look for her make-up, her lipstick was a matte in crimson.

"You clean up nice Mrs. Carter," Michelle admired her handiwork and handed Lana a matching clutch purse.

"Good job as always! I can't even recognize myself," Lana twirled around.

"Jordan will not be able to keep his hands off you tonight, hope you're on birth control," Michelle joked and they laughed. There was a soft knock on the door and Michelle opened it on her way out, "hey JC, she's all yours."

"Wow!" Jordan gushed, "You look-gosh!" he twirled her around and she smiled nervously.

"Sweets-you're-for once in my life I'm speechless," he held her in his arms and looked at her intently, the smile still on his face.

"Karaoke?" She suggested.

"Baby, I don't even know which song to sing to you but-give me a minute," his finger flew on the screen of his iPhone and connected it to the blue-tooth speakers, "I've found the perfect song for you- " he smiled and held out his hand to her, "dance with me Mrs. Carter."

Don't even want the attention

But yeah, that's all that she's getting

Her song is on and she's spinning around, yeah

She got me drunk like Corona

Heart racing like it's Daytona

Ooh, I'm in Heaven, I swear, right now

And those eyes can hypnotize

Was designed to blow my mind

"Oh no! Lana and Jordan are doing their karaoke thing again," Jones groaned and gave himself a facepalm.

"What do you mean?" Amelia asked.

"They have this thing they do, where they sing songs to each other in, when they can't fully express their feelings. So they select a song that best describes how they feel and sing it to each other." Jones rolled his eyes.

"Awww that's really sweet! I'm going to watch the mushy," Bella ran towards the bedroom and everyone else followed. The door was slightly ajar and she pushed it open so they could all see. Jordan and Lana were dancing around the room lost in each other's eyes, oblivious to the onlookers that had crowded the door. Jordan was singing to Lana with such sincerity like the song was especially written for her

Look what God gave her

How perfect He made her

She walks in the room

It's like He answered my prayers

The way that she moves

How could anybody blame her?

I know she's got haters

But it ain't her fault, nah

Look what God gave her

It's like I heard angels singing

Like she came down from the ceiling

When she walked in here this evening, I thought, yeah

That girl one in seven billion

Got everyone in here feeling

Like there's a fire in this building, so hot

Got a smile on her angel face

I know I'll never lose my faith

Look what God gave her

How perfect He made her

"Oh he's got it bad," Ryan murmured to Jones as they looked on the happy couple.

"He's a goner and he doesn't even know it..who's going to tell him?" Jones replied, a grin on his face.

"Let's just let Mother Nature and Father Time handle this one," Ryan chuckled.

She walks in the room

It's like He answered my prayers

The way that she moves

How could anybody blame her?

I know she's got haters

But it ain't her fault, nah

Look what God gave her

Got that look in her eyes

Swear she fell right out the sky

Yeah, I think I've seen the light

Every kiss, I could die

It's like the heavens opened wide

Man, I swear I've seen the light

Look what God gave her

How perfect He made her

She walks in the room

It's like He answered my prayers

The way that she moves

How could anybody blame her?

I know she's got haters

But it ain't her fault, nah

Look what God gave her

Uuh, uh

UUh, look what God gave her

(Look what God gave her)

Uuh, uh

Oh yeah, look what God gave her

By the end of the song, everyone was standing at the door, teary-eyed, looking in at the newlyweds. Jordan kissed her at the end of the song, causing Lana to blush and bury her face in his shoulder. Jordan laughed, he found it cute that she was shy. Shy women were as rare as a unicorn nowadays.

"Right everyone, thank you but I need a private moment with my wife," Jordan closed the door, pulled a small gift box out of his pocket and handed it over to Lana. "Open it."

"Jordan you need to stop buying me stuff," Lana protested as she took the gift reluctantly. She gasped when she saw what was inside.

"Thanks, babe, but-"

"No buts sweets," he placed his finger on her lips, "I will buy for you whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like. You just need to accept that then we will be good. Got it? Let's go, we're late," he took her hand, "Kyle has been blowing up my phone. Don't worry you will meet him in a bit."

"Where's Preston?" Lana asked.

"Have no idea sweets," Jordan furrowed his eyebrows, "Are we going to ride with your friends? Or do you-" he stopped before they got into the living room.

"Babe, I know your Aston Martin is your baby so no-let them go with Jones or the others," Lana squeezed his hand and he smiled.

"No sweets don't get it twisted-you are my baby Bambi," he said and kissed her on the cheek.

"Bet you say that to all the girls Carter," she teased.

"I never have sweets," Jordan said, his face turning serious.

"Hey Mr and Mrs, come join the party," Bella draped her arms around them both and pulled them into the sitting room.

"Listen, sweets, meet me downstairs in exactly five minutes okay?" Jordan said before letting go of her hand. He mingled with the other contestants and made small talk with other guests. When he turned around to look for Lana and she was gone.

"Ryan, you got this?" Jordan asked, pushing back his blonde locks that had fallen over his eye.

"Yeah, yeah, go on. We will meet you at the benefit, you're already running a little late," Ryan glanced at his watch.

Jordan took the elevator and walked into the foyer and saw that Lana was being harassed just outside. He ran over and got there just as the girl was about to attack Lana.

"Hey! Get away from my wife!" Jordan restrained the deranged woman.

"But Jordan! I was supposed to be your wife and her! You belong to me! We belong together!" the stalker shouted out.

"Security!" he called out and the guards came running to his aid, "You're okay baby?" he hugged Lana close to his chest.

"I'm okay," she was visibly shaken.

"She's not your baby! I am! She doesn't deserve you Jordan! You belong to me!" the stalker screamed.

"You are all fired! My wife was getting attacked and you were nowhere in sight-what am I paying you for? Something could have happened to her-or you don't care?!" he slipped his phone out of his pocket, "Jones, we have a situation in the foyer-get here,"

"Sir, sorry but-" the guard tried to explain.

"I don't want to hear it," Jordan held up his hand, "Just get this crazy woman out of my face,"

"I love you JC!! You're mine!" the stalker screamed as she was dragged away.

"You called JC?" Jones frowned as he looked around.

"Some crazy stalker almost attacked Lana, so I'm going to need you to drive us to the benefit," Jordan briefed him on what had happened. Lana needed a permanent bodyguard, he thought. Being the wife of a superstar had its drawbacks.

"I asked you to allow me to shadow her until you found someone suitable," Jones stated.

"I know, you're right," Jordan agreed.

"I'll go and get the car, it's not safe to be waiting out here when there's stalkers lurking in the dark, waiting to pounce," Jones said dryly.

"Stop worrying, I'm okay," Lana said, putting up a brave front.

"Hey, if you're not up for it we can stay home okay baby?" Jordan eyed her with concern.

"No,no-let's go. People are counting on you to be there," she said, "besides you're looking too good in this tux, I would rather go out there and show you off," she winked at him as she straightened his tie.

" Touché baby," he winked back and put his hand on the small of her back as he led her to the limo.
