Chapter 15:Attack - Part One

Water splashed onto my face. My hands and feet were tied. I was on the cold grassy ground. I still had the bag on my head, but I could see the starry night sky.

"Kid wake up!"

There were three figures. They I could hear that they were older than any kid in the school. Could this be a teacher? Whatever the reason, I was curious to find out the situation.

"Show me my daughter!"

Was that Pax? Why was he here and daughter? Did they actually want to kidnap Korral? Are they stupid? They kidnapped me, but actually got the wrong person. How could you mix us up? I have a plain looking face, but she looks pretty. We look nothing alike. I even kept to my daily routine. It would take a moron to mix us up. Sorry, three morons.

After that they took off my hood and I could see Pax's face in the moonlight. He was just as shocked as me when I heard they wanted to kidnap Korral.

"We fed your daughter a poison. Even if you do anything you won't get the cure. Comply with our demands and we will deliver the cure to you."

"Dad help me. These guys are scary."

*cough cough* It was the only thing I could do to prevent myself from laughing. It is a serious situation, but since I know both Korral and Glandriel are safe, I can have some fun at least.

I sent Pax a telepathic message asking him to do whatever he wanted as Korral was safe.

It looks like Pax gave a signal with his hand as an arrow flew into the man to my right. He was frozen in time for five seconds before flying backwards half a meter. Those seconds didn't go to waste as the other two were quickly dealt with.

It was an open field, so I was curious to see Kaalm hiding in a shroud of darkness behind Pax. It made sense as to why the same copy of that bow appeared in Pax's hands. I remember they had to be close by each other.

I ran over there to them crying. I saw the shots weren't fatal. I thought it would be best to keep up the charade. At least the bad guys would think that they still had the upper hand if they thought the daughter was still in danger. Either way it isn't something I have to worry about.

"The arrows were with an alchemical powder to knock them out. We can take them back to question them."

Kaalm explained that to me. I didn't send him a message, but he is playing along.

I checked the area. I seems that we have a spectator. I guess the show must go on. I see a belt of pouches on Pax. I send him a telepathing message to take out a vial out of a specific pouch and have me drink it. I tell him of the spectator in the distance.

"Honey can you drink this?"

"Yes dad."

I drink the water in the vial I created. Along with the three men, they bring me back to their home.

---

"I want you both to know that Korral is safe and sleeping right now."

I show them a screen with Korral sleeping. You can hear the snoring from Glandriel in the background.

"I have to be getting back soon as it is almost dawn. Can I ask what the demands they were talking about were?"

Pax sat down in front of me as Kaalm carried the three unconscious people down stairs. While I was at it I found out his specializations were, shadow magic, body enhancement magic, and proficiency in sword and shield. That makes sense how he was able to carry those three bodies.

"They wanted us to publicly denounce the elven refugees in Amber Spring. Then hire adventurers to get rid of them."

"I understand. I will keep an eye on the kids. I hope everything goes well on your end."

I teleported bathroom. It was daytime now, since those two were just getting out of bed, so I decided to pop out there.

---

After getting ready, we all went to class. I didn't pay attention at all in class. I just recorded what Jassi was teaching. I would have Jorgen Captivman replay it back to me later.

I enjoy mysteries and puzzles. The 'Big Bad Boss' wants to create fear. They have achieved that in the school. Based on most of the children here, it must have spread far to even their families. They want to get a close ally of the elves to turn their back on them. With a public announcement and hand made army.

They said that the spymaster was one who was involved with the attack on Glandriel. That list I gave them, was only about the people who planned to hurt Glandriel, nothing more than that. Sure others might hate, but those who were involved and knew what was going on.

I can guess there is a main army used by the kingdom, and a more elite army for shadow operations. It would make sense that a spymaster would have control over that. Why wouldn't he use that army against the elves in the first place? Why resort to kidnapping the daughter of an ally? That seems unnecessary. Plus they are not competent enough to know who the target is.

Speaking of which they kidnapped me in the school. They would have to be registered to enter the building. The crystals prevent unauthorized people from entering. So they had the backing to get in, but they were incompetent to tell them who the target looked like?

As a spymaster you should be able to do anything with ease in his own kingdom. How does he fail at that? The spymaster tried to do things quiet, then went loud. Why would he change tactics? What does he gain from being out of the shadows?

This is starting to get interesting.

The second trimester comes to an end. Everyone is heading home. There have been no moves, since from the 'Big Bad Boss'.

On our way home, I decided to be a little mean. I formed a small ball of water over Korral and Glandriel. The ran after me as we got closer and closer to Korral's home. The giant apple statue in the middle of the fountain really does look amazing. Well I did make it.

We entered the mansion and were greeted again, by Pax, Kaalm, Rin and Zinleth. After hugging and greeting, Pax spoke up.

"There is a new restaurant that was just built. We planned to take you all there once you got back. We will leave in a few minutes."

A carriage pulled up front and we all got inside. It was really spacious. I was surprised. Pax, Kaalm and Rin sat across from us. We started moving as the old man butler drove us there. I love how professional he is. I have great respect for him.

We stood there looking at the building. It was two stories tall and had a terrace on the second floor. A rich persons' eatery.

We got to the restaurant. I think Pax forgot to mention something about this restaurant. It is called 'The Apple'.

"Wow"

Both Korral and Glandriel say. They are really in sync these days.

"What an interesting name."

I say that looking at them while laughing my butt off.

As I am laughing, the screen to my right pops into existence and six notifications appear. Time comes to a halt as the restaurant bursts from an explosion. I look behind me and see another coming from another building in the distance. I fly up in the air and I see more explosions. The Suul is under attack.
